This movie is bloated.
It needs to be as Warner Bros (foolishly) tries to replicate in 2 movies what Marvel laid down over 5 in a structured plan.
I don't expect them to succeed.
This movie is bloated.
I'd love for Batman to not get an origin story and just exist in the world. Everyone knows the origin story. It'd been done in every medium. Everyone knows it. People who have never read a comic know Batman's origin story.
Bad news is this movie will be bloated, good news is that DC probably won't replace Hal Jordan with boring John Stewart for the team roster now. DC will also be beating Marvel in team diversity!
Just rename it Justice League and have done with it.
Christ just wait for it to come out before judging how it handles its characters.
Why is every casting announcement with this movie met with derision and claims the movie is bloated and awful? It's not like it's a requirement that every character get an equal share of screen time.

I think people claiming that this sequel needs 5 setup films are forgetting that two of Avengers' set-up movies were just Iron Man's alone. Batman doesn't exactly need an origin story again and Superman's movie directly preceded this.
Hawkeye didn't exactly need 100 minutes of explaining, and Black Widow's fascinating yarn didn't really require her own feature either.
I'm not saying this film is going to be aces around, but keep in mind that we don't really need origin films every other summer either.
I always thought it was weird that the first movie in a superhero series can get away with a very simple, one-villain cast (or in this case, one hero). Then the sequels have to escalate that, can't just have one villain! Name a superhero sequel that kept it super simple, I know there's got to be one.

Same exact same thing happens with the ASM films.
I wanted Superman vs. Batman, an intimate picture
You should check the Fantastic Four thread!![]()
A LOT of people dont know Cyborg or Wonder Woman's origins.

Why can't I just have a sequel to Man of Steel. Who gives a shit about second stringers like Wonder Woman and Cyborg. The only thing I have ever even seen him on is as a shitty beat em up character on Injustice for 360.
Batman and Friends movie gets larger.
Is Cyborg the same dude as Steel from the death of Superman arc?
Do they even have a Kevin Fiege type of guy in charge of unifying their cinematic universe? One thing WB/DC needs to get done before announcing these new superheros is timing. They need to hurry the f up. They're crawling while Disney/Marvel is sprinting yelling, "On your left".

So... Martian Manhunter and Hawkgirl are next right?
WB is probably pressuring them to set up as many characters as they can.

It's entirely possible Snyder's doing it on his own. I mean, he's got the keys.
Both Marvel and WB fans seem to envision all the creative decisions coming solely from the brain trusts in the boardroom, and completely discount whatever creative decisions could be coming from the writer/director/producers.
What's even more interesting is that as the Marvel successes have gone on, the credit seems to go like this.
An idea works: It's the executives
An idea stumbles: It's the creatives.
It's a complete inversion of the typical perception with regards to almost any other creative endeavor.
Since introducing 6-8 characters in a 20 minute cartoon pilot worked fine, there is no theoretical reason why you can't have 5 or 6 in a feature length film. You don't actually need an origin story especially for the famous ones. What was hawkeye's origin in mcu again? Oh right, nobody gives a shit.

If it were just a cute cameo it would be silently put in the film for fans to discern and enjoy. Mahvel sure as hell don't announce every comic related minor.
It seems like heavy handed universe building. Studio execs probably watched Watchmen and are just throwing characters at Snyder. "He can probably do it". I don't see it working for characters that don't simply serve a role in a single story. You need time to develop them, and these casting announcements don't seem indicative of that direction.
He should have at least 5 scenes where he blasts civilians to smithereensWhat we could have.
