Silver and the league are hoping this goes away temporarily and they can put attention back on the games. They are in a tough spot. People are out for blood but realistically there isn't a whole lot they can do right now.

Exactly.

They have a chance to take a stand immediately, when it will be most effective. But Doc wants to win. That's more important to him. It seems some posters feel the same way and that's incredibly disappointing.

How effective is a boycott if it does just as much to hurt the players as it does Sterling? In fact, Sterling likely doesn't care. They can take a stand and make a statement without throwing away all the hard work and effort they've poured into the season and post season so far.

Maybe referring to Docs Boston home being burned down by a racist? That sounds like an isolated incident though, not sure how that implies rampant racism in Boston
I thought it was common knowledge that guys in the NBA don't lie Boston cuz it's racist as hell.

I mean, I'm from Detroit which is built in racism, so I'm not judging. Just saying, I thought it was common knowledge. Hm.

Players can solve it right now if they want.

They just don't want to. What do they care?

It's not like there's an imminent threat, nor is DTS's racism a sudden revelation. The players have spent the past 7 months (and realistically, all the years they've spent preparing for and playing in the NBA) to get to this point, and winning is the important thing right now. As a Clippers fan, I hope that something is done about DTS. But I don't think now's the time to do it.

Expected. Surprised they hope to wrap this up in days. How? They will hunt down this girl? Then announce a suspension in the middle of the playoffs? Don't believe that.

They don't play there because it's not a warm weather location. Florida and California are the sexier destinations.

What can they do? Fine him or suspend him? Won't do anything and if anything, Sterling could fight it for due process. Do you want them to force him to sell the team tomorrow?

I'm pissed off Sterling has only accepted missing a single game, and Silver shares that news like it was an incredible get.

And how many days do you need to confirm the authenticity of a guy's voice in a recording? Silver said, a "few days". We'll see.

I hope Clipper player really considering boycott, its sucked they actually have chance to win it all this year, but hey their complete focus for that must've gone now regardless they actually give a fuck to this issue or not.

As a Bostonian myself I have no idea what he's referring to, anybody able to fill me in?

But the Angels must face off against Boston once more; this time for a four-game set that begins with a doubleheader on Friday, in one of baseball's most infamously scathing arenas: Fenway Park.

"It can be hostile if you're not accustomed to it, depending on what type of player you are emotionally," Matthews said. "It's not that friendly your first time in there. It's different. It's one of the few places you hear racial comments every once in a while, but I've learned to enjoy it.

Torii "Dominicans are imposters" Hunter said something similar as well.

Do what? Not play? That solves nothing and puts the league in an even worse spot.

They would earn respect and back up their stance. So, what? They play and...what if they win the title? Congratulations! You won Donald Sterling a title! Making everything even worse!

Guys in the NBA don't like Boston because it has a season called winter.

It's not a very sexy life to live in Boston when compared to Miami or LA.

The hell. Did this girl actually say "I'm sorry, i wish i could change my skin colour"

I guess, theres no such thing as dignity when money is in the equation.

Just to play devil's advocate... sure, Sterling's racist, but does that really mean anything? he owns the team. I'm sure lots of owners bust unions, support the death penalty, donate pac money to halt gay marriage, and other things.

Is it okay to strip an owner of their team for their beliefs?

Wasn't it the Boston Bruins fans who where hurling racial insults towards a black player a few years ago?

I don't know how this thread turned into a "Is Boston racist?" thread, but what happened in that incident is that Joel Ward scored the series clinching goal against the Bruins and a bunch of idiots on Twitter posted disgusting comments. Many of those idiots weren't even from Boston but that didn't stop people from declaring Boston a racist city because of it.

I watched that entire Vice documentary over breakfast beers this morning, regardless of how I felt about the content, it was some damn good, impartial reporting that got me to half mast oh yeah. We need more journalists like that here in America.

The denials, man

Is Boston racist shouldn't even be a discussion. It's pretty understood Boston is racist as hell.

No, but you should be able to kick a team out of your league for the beliefs of their racist owner.

Then they achieve personal success. Make more money. Are remembered as players who overcome adversity in the midst of an extremely taxing professional challenge.

And Sterling is still a racist, with or without a title. Not winning one doesn't hurt the man.

I dunno. You guys must think these Clippers players have no personal investment in winning an NBA championship. It's not like doing so is the basis of their profession and what they dedicate the vast majority of their life in attaining, I suppose.

An NBA owner who is a racist.
Talk about cognitive dissonance.

He should make it so that his team only hires white people.
