PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | April 2014

Huh. Bought a PS4 today and got it set up and everything. Set up the internet, tested the connection and it was successful. But for some reason, I can't log in to PSN. Is it currently down right now, or is something just up with my internet? My PS3 seems to connect fine, but not the PS4. Any ideas?

Most of the "omg y is the PS3 wifi so slow" issues are hardware related, as in, the old ass PS3 wifi chip doesn't like your router or something similar so it might be that.

Are you on wireless? I used to get awful speed wireless on my launch US PS3 over wireless, but when running wired at got full speed on my Virgin Media line (3mb/sec).

Yeah, I've always found it quick. I'm wired though, which helps.

I am on wireless. And my PS3 is older (I believe the first model without ANY PS2 backwards compatibility). I'll see about wiring in, but my router is one room over. Wish I knew that last night wired vs wireless makes a gigantic difference.

Ouch, you can finally buy picks in No More Heroes and bottomless is $8. Why not just buy the mega pack?

Guess with how invested I am in the F2P version I'll see how long it takes to complete the Monsterpedia.

Great thanks.

Anyone know why I can't download directly to my Vita from the playstationstore website? My PS3 and PS4 are both listed but for Vita games it just says "Download"...

If the games has all two/three platforms listed, then clicking the download link will give you the option to purchase the Vita version. You could also get the games from the Vita PSN store as well (either from the games links themselves, as if they have a red shopping bag icon near the buy button, you own it or from your download list).

Hope this helps :).

One thing you should definitely try if you haven't already is pause the download, wait five seconds or so, then resume it. This is highly likely to connect you to a different server in their content distribution network.

I bought the mega box and I've played about 17 hours so far, it's still going to take me some time to fill that out. I expect the hero-pedia will take even longer.

I just bridged my connection between my laptop and my PS3. It's not pretty, but it's only temporary. It's downloading a lot faster now. Not super fast, but a loooot faster. I'll take it.

(my stupid roommate told me that "ps3 downloads are just slow" and it doesn't matter if he's plugged in via ethernet or connected on WiFi so I didn't bother)

1) Largely correct, yeah. Memories of Celceta is now the canon Ys 4, considering it's the first version of Ys 4 that's developed by Falcom. With that said
2) With one notable exception (Ys 2, which nowadays can't be bought without the required Ys 1), the entire series is episodic. There's basically nothing that you need to know about the other games in order to jump into a specific one. In that case, Memories of Celceta would be a great place to start.
3) Not hard at all.

Sounds great, thanks. I'll pick up Memories of Celceta once the price goes down. Good time to clear my backlog, which is just getting bigger and bigger. Vita, with its PSone classics and PSP games, is not helping.

Alas, the time has finally come. My 64 GB card is officially full. Definitely have some games I can delete without too much fuss, but I really liked having my entire library available at once. Especially since my school apartment internet is controlled by the hospital we are affiliated with across the street, so pretty much everything is blocked, meaning I have to download all my games over a 3G MiFi type connection. I hope for a 128 GB card someday, but we all know it will come out in 2020 and cost as much as a second vita.

On PSNProfiles Monsterpedia is 1.2% vs Hero 1.9%. Currently at a quarter of your playtime though, just beat world 4.
My 4star monster wants a Level 65 to evolve :x

How long do downloads take for you? If I were in your situation, I'd just get all of my games physically.

A sale for Ys Celenta was teased during the last flash sale for NA; via a reply in the comment section.

They are generally pretty slow, but the major issue is that the connection is just so unreliable. Typically any download finishes overnight, but for some of the biggest games like Killzone Mercenary I waited to download it till I was at my parents house visiting.

Main reason I prefer digital when I can is because about 50% of the time I play my vita is out of my room, and I really like being able to decide in the moment which game to play, rather than having to decide on one to put in the system when I leave. Also, there have been so many good digital sales recently, and with PS+ my digital library is growing even if most of my major purchases are physical. Oh well, good reason to clear my backlog, less reason to keep a game if I know my save is safe in the cloud and I already have the platinum trophy for it.

Back from GameStop!

This is just my opinion, but after putting some hours into Conception 2, I'd say it's not a very good game. If you can still return it, I'd recommend you do that. I mean, it's not terrible; I'll probably finish it since I already paid for. It's just boring. Nothing interesting about it. And the sexual innuendo is actually pretty tame compared to what I was expecting, and also boring.

So basically, I have a PS3 4k and bought a new Dualshock 3. I can turn the PS3 on with the controller wirelessly, but it won't assign itself (all four lights keep blinking). I have to connect it via USB to get any assignment. I can then turn the controller off (manually or with the power saving mode after a set time), and reassign it without the USB cable just fine. The PS3 and the controller, they know each other. Just (partially) not on bootup.

I did this whole "controller reset" thing. Pressed and held the little recessed button on the controller with a paper clip, 30 seconds at least. Does absolutely nothing. Manually reassigned the controller (while USB connected) to all four "ports", and then back to "port" 1. Does absolutely nothing.

What else can I try?

Model number on the controller is CECHZC2E A1.

Why have they still not updated NA Vita box arts to use the monochrome info boxes instead of the ugly gray gradient ones?
And why is Demon Gaze's memory required box pushed next to the NISA logo?
Why do they even put those warnings on the boxart when you can't even use a Vita without a memory card? They should only be there if it's an excessive amount of space.
Grand Theft Auto V apparently has an 8GB mandatory install yet there's nothing on the box art warning you. Yet we need a big ugly gray oudated-style warning that you need -less than 1MB- for Demon Gaze.
:(

Just finished Guacamelee on Vita. What a great game. Perfect difficulty for me, one of the few final boss fights that I really liked.

If the rumors are true that it will be free on PS+ for PS4, everyone is in for a treat!

IA/VT looks kind of cool. I think I'm gonna preorder it. The special edition is sold out but the regular one can be found right now for around 35€, a little bit cheaper in Nippon Yasan I believe.

Guys, should I get Soul Sacrifice? I just got a $10 card from sonyrewards and have $25-some laying on the account waiting for good price-cuts for the past month or so.
We can safely assume that SS will cost me 15 bucks. Is now a good time or do you think they will make a promotion before Delta comes out?

And is it a good game in general? I've got a massive backlog already, but always wanted to try it and I joined the Vita gang about a week after they took down SS from PS+ (talk about bad luck. Same thing happened with MH3U on 3DS. I bought one a few days after the free MH3 promo ended and only learned about it afterwards.)

Delta will have all content of basic game. So not really unless you plan to wait for few months.

Backup individual games to a PC or PS3 via USB, so you can out them back on more easily.

I heard Soul Sacrifice Delta is getting a physical English R3 version, so questions:

Will I be able to play worldwide with everyone or just the same people playing the same version as me?

Does Delta's DLC have trophies or are there none like the first game's?

I know I can't download the DLC, but what about patches?

anyone got tips for Luftrausers?

I'm getting stuck with the firing nonstop and killing 30 enemies
the combo gets lost

Use the Armour body and either default gun or the spread weapon. Just hold down fire and aim in the general direction of enemy planes. Use the Armour to fly into planes/boats for kills. If there aren't awards of small planes to kill, just dive bomb and attack the small boats to keep the multiplier going.

Does Soul Sacrifice Delta not have a full English website like the original game and Freedom Wars do? The only English info I've found from the NA/EU/HK PlayStation sites have been a bit lackluster.

I can't wait for Final Fantasy ~Idols of the Crystal~ and Senjou no Valkyria 4 ~Idols in Blue Flame~.

Would be good to know. I'm very much interested.

Started Demon Gaze today. Not really sure it's my thing. The only other first person dungeon crawler I've played was Class of Heroes 2 - and I stopped that after the first twenty minutes. I'll stick with it, because I want an RPG I can really dig into and there isn't a Vita version of Dragon's Dogma :p.

If you can't download DLC, then you can't go online.

You need Online Pass, just like Soul Sacrifice.
Oh, I totally forgot about that.

Hmm.

Do you know if the trophies for "defeating one/twenty Archfiends in co-op" can be done by doing it in ad-hoc alone, sort of like what was able to be done in the first on with the "100 multiplayer pacts" by playing an ad-hoc pact alone?
