US PSN: Golden Week Sale Celebrates Japanese Games

Well it really depends on your definition of "worth it"
If you're hoping for some traditional JRPG epic, its not gonna deliver that. It has menu based towns, a pretty good battle system, rather repetitive dungeons, a fairly likeable cast and funny script with a fairly nonsensical silly little console warz story.

I'd recommend getting the Atelier games over it if you havent played them and Symphonia HD to a lesser extent before you consider buying it. It's leagues better than something like Time & Eternity though

Thank you. I love the Tales of series, and simply love the art direction of T&E.

My main question was, this isn't the first game of the series I realize, is it worth it to go back, or is this a good point to start the Neptunia series?

You can pretty much start with this, it takes place in an alternate timeline and has very little to do with the first two games

load times when the original didn't have any is unacceptable. But if people really wanna spend the money, I say let 'em. Hopefully, as a last resort.

Yah. I realize it's cheap, just loving it as much as I do, I hope people can experience the best version. Although some CT is better than none I suppose.

Cute avatar btw <3

Thanks again!

I'd only get digital only games, so just Meruru and CC for me I think.

StI'll adoring on sales for physical copies of Ys to go on sale.

Hmm. I'll probably pick up a few Vita games in anticipation of actually owning one (waiting on vita-2000). I'll probably get Dangaronpa, Muramasa and persona 4 (haven't ever played it).

Definitely getting ToS, thinking of getting ZoE HD Collection.

I have it still shrinkwrapped on 360 (back then when it was the best version) maybe I should get it for PS3 with dat new patch. Should I?

EDIT: I still think it's fucked up that the 360 version wasn't patched btw

Buying for sure:
Tales of Symphonia Chronicles
Zone of the Enders HD
Rain

Maybe:
Soul Calibur V
Armored Core: Verdict Day
Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational
Atelier Ayesha: Alchemist of Dusk

I played one of the AC PSP games and didn't like it very much (I didn't give it much time though). Is there still a chance that I'll like AC:VD? How does it compare to other AC games? I'm willing to give the series a try again because the Souls games are one of the best games I've played this generation.

I never played any game in the HSG series but I fucking love Pangya. Should I buy World Invitational? I don't usually play online in these types of games, does this game have a good single player mode?

I'd buy Atelier Ayesha but Amazon has it for $18 so I'd rather buy it there. Is Ayesha a good place to jump in the Atelier series? I've played Mana-Khemia on PSP and I liked it a lot (god-like music and synthesis mechanics). How does this game compare to it?

Yes, ZOE HD patch is awesome

I want Muramasa but considering that EU PS+ is getting it for free, it's only a matter of time we'll get it on PS+.

I wouldn't even play it for months anyway

Armored Core: The PSP isn't really built for AC games. The controls are a bit too complex for the PSP to handle without some serious compromises. So don't let that give you a negative impression of the AC series. Give VD a shot (I'm going to do the same once the sale starts, haven't played one since For Answer).

Hot Shots Golf: Hell yes the singleplayer is good. HSG games are FULL of content for SP. Plenty of courses/characters/unlockables, lots of game modes, etc. Definitely worth the five bucks.

yeah Armored Core really shouldn't be judged based on the PSP titles.

However playing on Vita makes the game much more playable.

This. One of the best games I've played in years.

I'm gonna need a bigger Vita memory card....Muramasa for 7.49 is super nice.

And damn..Tales of Symphonia is hard to resist for 10 bucks. I would rather have trhat physically too but.....

Hot Shots is the PS3 version, not the Vita one unfortunately :(

Just to confirm about Hot Shots Golf, it's Cross-Buy and Cross-Play. So you get the vita and PS3 versions of the game.

literally every VA in P4 has been in an Atelier game, with JYB voicing no fewer than a dozen different characters across the series :p

Thanks for reminding me yet again why I prefer the option for dual-audio and JP voice tracks.

Reason #78:
I don't have to listen to JYB as literally everyone ever. Except Sora.

Re-bought Persona 4 Golden digitally at $29 a couple weeks ago, I'm not even mad. Seriously, this is one of the best games I've ever played. This sale price is such a steal.

Wowee, some great deals. I'll definitely grab Tales of Symphonia and Chrono Cross. How is Armored Core for newbies? Never played a game in the series before.

Only just got the MGS Legacy collection recently which is still unopened, could grab the Vita version for cross-save I guess.

Tales of Symphonia Chronicles for $10 is a damn steal. Was planning on buying it a few days ago and now I'm glad that I held off on it. I also plan on burning my hard earned money by purchasing Time and Eternity. I remember seeing footage of it a long time ago and would love to see the trainwreck it ended up being. Might rebuy Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross even though I have both on disc (and Trigger on DS).

How is Metal Gear Solid on the Vita? I want the HD collection for Snake Eater since I haven't really played it. I played the hell out of 2 so don't really care for it. Are the controls good? Is it enjoyable to play on the Vita? Or is it bad?

Question for those who have played Atelier Totori Plus. Should I use a guide for it? I've heard there are multiple ending to it and I don't really want to waste my time getting a bad one. Or is it like some super obvious choice that'll determine the ending and I should just go in blind?

I believe that it does. I know for sure that it supports Cross-Buy and Cross-Play for sure.

News to me.

I bought the Vita version at launch, and had to re-purchase the PS3 version. I'm not sure about cross-save either.

I don't have the games installed ATM. But I'll check in the morning.

Time to double dip and get MGS for PS3 and Vita. Looks like a Peace Walker/MGS3 replay is immanent.

I'd love confirmation of this. I'd totally pick up Hot Shots Golf if it was crossbuy.
