This is some seriously cool planning on Nintendo's part. A shame they won't be at the show floor this year, but I'm not complaining too much.

Exactly. Nintendo's E3 stream is the only one I remember from last year because it wasn't filled with stupid bullshit like that and people dancing on stage and carrying on.

Don't forget washed up football players pretending they like Madden or washed up singers promoting Dance Kinect. That's what gamers want.
 
You know what I'd really like Nintendo to do even though it doesn't make much financial sense?

Re-releasing old hardware.

Their re-release of the Game & Watch Ball game gave me that idea, as well as the existence of clone hardware, emulator handhelds, retro mods & homebrew, makes me believe there's an audience of retro fans who wouldn't mind a new NES/SNES/N64/GB in a shiny new guise.

E3 has been crap for a long time now due to boring press conferences by everyone. Its only ever good when new hardware is being shown off.

Good lord do you have no fear? Civilisation as we know it would cease to exist if that was to occur. Reggie Fils-A-Mechs weakness to the substance H2O, or what humans like to refer to as 'Water' is our only ally.
 
Reggie Fils A Mech's theme being the Ghirahim battle music is nothing short of perfection. One of the best Nintendo announcements ever. I'm definitely going to be paying a visit to Best Buy.
 
Everyone "guessing" that a Zelda will be shown off at E3, I'm pretty sure Aonuma already said that they'd like to show off the game at this E3.

Now, that's never a 100% guarantee, but I don't think he would have said it if they weren't gunning for it.

They'll probably stream it on Twitch like they did with SSB Direct. In my experience Twitch stream is rather reliable compared to some alternatives. In addition to that YouTube option exists. All better than Ustream. So I don't think lag will be an issue.

Well yeah I thought it was a 100% lock for a while now. They've mentioned it being at E3 this year numerous times.

Ever since they started streaming on Youtube and Twitch I've never had any problems with their Directs. I'm guessing that since the Smash Direct didn't die, Play Nintendo will be fine.
 
Will Nintendo have a UK/EU stream this time, one that ACTUALLY works without freezing & buffering like last time ?

Maybe have it on a channel on the WiiU so you know WiiU owners can watch it on the big screen.
 
I don't know why I didn't see this the first time, or if it was mentioned, but did anyone see the obvious ocarina of time cartridge facing the camera on the side of the desk lol. It seems like a weird place to keep an n64 cartridge. It's just kinda there, for no reason.
 
Finally got to see the video. Lots of nostalgia, it reminds me a lot of the old VHS videos Nintendo would send out with Nintendo Power.
 
If Microsoft were to forgo a traditional conference in order to have a Halo 5 tournament in it's place with fans filling the venue instead of press, everyone would praising MS as making a brilliant promotional move.

Nintendo does it with the game people consider to be their core game with the broadest appeal and people condemn Nintendo for it.

I don't personally see the difference between watching an NA stream compared to EU. Release dates might differ but otherwise it's the same.

Why does the music in that Mega 64 video sound so familiar? What's it from? Not the Gerudo Valley music, but the music where he's exploring the office?

There is a NA stream, a JPN stream & a UK/EU stream, here in the UK i can get loads of links to NA & Jap streams that work fine, but when i try & watch the UK/EU stream i cannot, why should i watch a NA or JPN stream ?

Doesn't Nintendo think that us here in the UK/EU deserve the same treatment as NA & Jap gamers ?

Thats no different to watching on my laptop though, it will be easier to watch on my laptop than in the WiiU browser, why not have a channel on the WiiU/3DS ?

I think the UK stream froze up a lot last year so I jumped onto the US Stream. I prefer watching streams from my territory if I'm honest. You get some different content and like you say dates etc. In any case it's going to show at 5pm in the UK.

I didn't have any problem with Youtube too, so there won't be any problem with this direct too. The one last year was a real mess. I missed at least 10 minutes worth of content...

I'm pretty sure Nintendo UK had a Youtube stream for the Smash Direct, it should be the same here.

Just an FYI, Jap is an offensive term. I know you didn't mean it that way, but I just thought I'd let you know.

Yes i tried watching the YT stream but it was too late by the time i found out about it.

Yeah i know it can be seen as that, maybe JPN would be better.

I'm just very disappointed in Nintendo.
 
Looks like good stuff now that Nintendo puts live events on youtube. Letting the Treehouse cover the games and show demos I think is going to be really cool. The Smash tournament is a great way to ensure that you're in the news all conference long.
 
Loved the video. I wonder if there were any hidden announcements in the video, as people are speculating. The whole Zelda theme pretty much tells me that the Wii U game...or whatever system its on, is going to be there. Can't wait for that particular announcement.

I really like the creativity they're displaying with their announcements -- specifically, teaming up with Mega 64 is brilliant on both sides.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to the Treehouse Live thing. I'm guessing that's where the announcements will be, and the Digital Event will be more based around games we already know about and new trailers.

Yeah probably not. Digital event is most likely there substitute conference, Treehouse live is just gonna be there demos of the games on the show floor with treehouse people commentary.
 
You've heard the people in this thread, Nintendo. And what they want is less game content, more bluster and performances by Usher.
