"Little shorter" is an understatement. Granted its a matter of seconds, but a few down to just one if even that is a significant difference.

And being an older game is a double edged sword here, given we're talking about an SNES game with no perceptible loading, and as it wasn't designed with that in mind it can stick out like a sore thumb especially as it doesn't have transition screens. But as noted it would be crazy to get a DS JUST for this, so it's more "if you have a DS or Wii you may want to consider getting it there," nevermind that $5 isn't a big deal either way.
I agree. Although, If it doesn't completely hinder my enjoyment of the game, I'm all for it. Hopefully that's the case. If it's just terrible, no thanks.

DS version is a little quicker.

The load time issue is overblown.

Have you played FFX-2 HD on Vita?
On average the fights take about 4-5 seconds to start. The post battle screen also takes way longer than FFX.

It's a matter of tolerance.. Understand that you're playing an older game.
I like quick load times too. But I'm not going to run out and get a DS to play Chrono Trigger. It's great game, play it on what you own.

First half is great.. The second half lacks gameplay, you'll be watching a movie.
Lol, nothing to do with understanding you are playing an older game. The problem people had was that the snes version had zero loading while ps1 loads just to do every other action

Some people might be overblowing it, but also some people are downplaying it as well.

3-4 second load time every time you enter the menu, enter a battle, or enter/exit an area is alot of loading time. It adds up over time and by the end of the game you'll probably have spent 15-20% of the time just loading. If you have any other means of playing it you should, but if not $3.50 is still pretty cheap.

I managed to put up with it for one plahthrough but i didnt do it again for NG+

I had already beaten P4G last year when I had my Vita but I just got a Vita again so I wanted to go through the masterpiece again. Clutch sale.

Thinking about picking up Muramasa Rebirth. Not sure yet.

Do you like great boss fights? Get it.

Do you hate tons of backtracking and boring encounters? Don't get it.

P4G
Muramasa
Chrono Cross
Tactics Ogre

Good sale. Thought about Tales Chronicles but I already played the GC version and still got Graces F and Xillia to finish

It wasn't so bad in Chaos mode, but yeah, the backtracking became a little bit much. Doing the two stories back to back is just a bad idea. I spaced them out and had a fun time then.

I ended up getting Armored Core which I'm about to start up, Muramasa, Tactics Ogre, Chrono Cross, and Vagrant Story.

I have hard copies of Tactics Ogre, Chrono Cross, and Vagrant Story but having them all on the Vita sounds great. I've always intended to fill out my digital PS1 collection so I can't say no to a sale. I'm actually only missing a handful of square games available, though I really hope they release more.

Picked up Armored Core. That mech customization is scratching an itch that hasn't been touched in a while. No NeoGAF team, though? I assume teams are like clans... Should I just make one?
Well, we have this thread as the closest thing to an OT (the Armored Core V one was left alone even after VD came out) and Teams... well, I made one named New Sun, but there's a 20 member cap so the prior GAF team is full up.

It's part of why I'm more inclined to recommend jumping in with Ayesha. That and Escha & Logy seem to be free of the fan service and other odd bits, and while it doesn't sound like the Arland games get as bad as some stuff out there it's enough to give pause.

Yeah, "it'll do in a pinch but it's not ideal" is the best way to put it. There's worse ports out there (though whenever a port falters people have been eager to claim it as outright terrible or even the worst, as the "parity is good enough for From!" Dark Souls 1 port showed) but the issues can drag it down for people, especially with the loads to menus.

And that's part of why the "it's an old game" defense is kind of shit. At best you can make the case that it's from an older era of porting, where jumping up a generation not only requires real work to take advantage of but due to the medium shift can easily bring in disadvantages (this is why Nintendo touted the non-existent load times of carts, and that's held true generally until the Vita showed Sony can absolutely bring significantly long loads to carts too) and being one of the later, bigger SNES carts Chrono Trigger had it particularly rough in the transition while a lot of earlier FFs ported up came out fine. Likewise, it's why we have issues like load times for menus that didn't even exist in RPGs like Chrono Cross or FFIX with way longer battle loads. You at least get the animated cutscenes, though the DS version has those too which is part of why it's generally considered the definitive version. No Woolsey translation there though, but that's a YMMV thing anyway.

Thanks for mentioning Vagrant Story, somebody in this thread. It wasn't listed in the sales thing on the Vita PSN store, but sure enough, it's $3 in the store right now.

Thank whoever I need to thank for the descision to go dual audio tracks on Atelier Totori. I am only an hour in but I was about to cut my losses and chalk it down as a bad purchase. But then, I switched it from dub to subs and I just started enjoying it. The dub isn't throw up in my mouth bad or anything, but it's not decent... So, the best I can do is switch it to a language I don't understand and start reading the words instead of letting the characters do that for me. Next up, Tales of Symphonia, Chrono _______, and Tactics Ogre maybe. Damn. And I wanted to buy Child of Light. But Child of Light isn't on sale and these are. Sorry, me.

Yeah, I wasn't entirely put off to Ayesha due to them going with dubs only, but these generally aren't games I want to hear in English. Though it seems Tecmo Koei's weird and inconsistent about this stuff anyway given they'll release some games with Japanese only, then turn around and dub other games with no Japanese option.

Is there any reason to believe that Sony might do a buy $50/get$10 promotion tomorrow? I mean, I've waited today. I may as well wait for the remainder of tomorrow.

I honestly don't think so. I mean we only had one a month ago. I don't feel like they'd do another one this soon.

still bugs me that HSG Vita isn't on sale for $5 as well
WHY SONY WHY

hmm what else to spend my $9 on
Man, I didn't even notice that was the PS3 version. I kinda want to double dip and see how it compared with 5, but it's sort of surreal to not put both on sale given the age of the other. Ah well.

Played Neptunia V for half an hour, the battle system's already waaay better than Mk 2's. I'll probably actually finish this one.

Also, for anyone who picked up Meruru, best new feature in the remake is the jukebox. The little descriptions for each song are just so cute. Especially Two Teaspoons of Honey.

Got the following :D

I am so glad to have Tactics Ogre and Vargant Story in a stealth sale. The only games that i haven't gotten from this sale now are the two Atelier games, that i will get later. Don't wanna just increase my backlog.

I now got Muramasa, Dragon's Crown, Vargant Story, Chrono Trigger/Cross, Metal Gear Solid HD, Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics and a hell lot more games to finish before i can think of purchasing another :P

Kay. I'll still just go ahead and splurge tomorrow to be safe. I'm not going to be playing any of these tonight. My only regret would be if Tactics Ogre randomly went back up in price.

Question on the MGS HD collection for Vita...if I buy the HD collection are the downloads for MGS2 and MGS3 separate? Same with the PS3 collection?

Nitpicky but it really isn't a stealth sale for them, it's just that with no Plus discount they weren't going to be reported ahead of the store update. And this time we have a huge sale going on so they're sort of getting lost in the crowd, though given the other SE games on sale they kind of blend in anyway.

It's a single download. 3.3GB in size.

It's taking forever to download for me. Normally Vita downloads max out my connection.

I'm in the same backlog boat as you because of the sony sales( minus Muramasa due to not owning a vita yet.) I could get used to this.

Went ahead and bought Zone of the Enders HD and Armored Core Verdict Day. Since ZOE 2 is the only one I haven't played and from what I hear it now runs well with the patch, I feel good about purchasing that. And it's been a long time since I've played an AC game, so Verdict Day will be interesting.

Was tempted to get Neptunia Victory so I could play it again, but I got two games for the same amount as that game is on sale for, so I think I'll hold off on another time.

Even if there was a promotion next week I don't think they would announce it until Monday like they did last time.

Damn it, I would need to buy a memory card just to hold the games from this sale.

Do the Vita versions of the Atelier games include JP voice track?

Yes. At least Totori does anyway

Are Tactics Ogre and Vagrant Story the only surprise sales or are there any more games that had unannounced sales?

I'm buying both for sure this week along with the Chrono games and Rain, just gotta get paid.
will be buying a 64gb card alongside these games >_>

This sale is killing me. I want MGS2 HD for PS3 and HSG for Vita and neither are on sale.
