The true power of the WiiU: Moustache Wobble

wazre1N.gif

This is awesome. Could you make one with the lettering just a little smaller to be clear of his face?

Yeah. Nintendo seems OCD in that regard, hence I believe it's hand animated.

But I just gave you a good reason why it isn't though! The dynamic changes in speed, orientation and now gravity wouldn't be possible to do by hand. That would be hundreds of little animation clips set to fire when specific conditions are met, all for one character's hair.

Why did the horse figures stop moving?

It seems these unique vehicle animations happen when you get a speed boost(hence the animation stopping after the flames dissipate), as well as drifting(yoshi bike shows the arms spread out when drifting, and closing in when done).

It's so cute seeing Nintendo fans being amazed with all these new graphical features. Like your mom being amazed with that 99$ smartphone while you enjoy your Nexus 5.

I don't believe this thread was created to be taken seriously, it seems light hearted to me. You're over reacting.

Nintendo is a legendary video game company, so it's awesome to see their first take in the HD era. They've definitely left an impression with this game.

not really

speed - vary animation loop speed based on speed going
orientation - not that intensive. I mean, set "this is the base plane" and like eye, tracking, hair would do typical animation aligned to that base plane of gravity
gravity changes - now gravity animation loop.

like when a character has a jump animation in a platformer or adventure game, but you jump from a different height, that jump/fall animation just loops until it's time for the landing animation. Same would apply here.

Also, the provided .gif is an in-air taunt, so that animation can only happen in that specific scenario of doing a jump. idle fall animation would start after the taunt-boost.

Even if that were what this thread was about (it's not), what makes you think that this comment would be in any way constructive to the discussion? Literally the only thing this comment does is make you look like a condescending jerk.

I also think its cute that despite owning a GTX770 equipped rig, I find Mario Kart 8 fucking gorgeous.

All the raw power and specs in the world mean nothing without an appealing artstyle and quite frankly, MK8 oozes charm (like very other Wii U game Nintendo has put out so far)

"Discussion"? you mean the discussion about posting gif of Mario moustache?

Yeah, sorry for not being more constructive, I should have made a joke about DK being on drugs or something.

I already said it is, just talking about the physics stuff and similar things.

Remember that thread about the "hyper realistic" doll in Smash Bros Wii U? Yeah, things like that.

I guess "constructive" was the wrong word he was looking for as that definitely isn't the intention of this thread. lol

He does have a point about you being somewhat condescending. I mean sure the thread is silly, but why come into it for the sole purpose of making fun of the people participating in it, then proceed to act all shocked when a few people get somewhat offended by what you said?

I don't think I was making fun, that would mean I was making fun of my mom, when I'm not lol I just thought the reactions were somewhat amusing, like going with a time machine years back in this forum. But yeah, seems like stating indirectly the fact your favorite console is not very powerful equals making fun of people.

When I say variations in speed are problematic, I'm not saying it the hair has to move more intensely at higher speeds. I'm talking about the variation of speed and the inertia of the hair being acknowledged. If a character grinds to halt, or is pushed in any direction at speed, canned animation isn't going to be able to cover that.

I agree that the taunt could be canned, but I'm not going to believe that nintendo would opt for using only canned animation in this case, rather than an appropriate use of both.

My favorite console? When did Wii U become my favorite console? lol
Or were you referring to someone else?

We all know the truth.

Heh, nextgen moustache tech. Amazing. Nintendo at the forefront of video game design, once again. Just how do they do it!?

Also: Just ignore the party pooper, peeps.
