Rumor: A Halo game releasing in October 2014?

Ehh, that campaign was sort of a disaster. My friends and I must have played through the CE campaign 30 times together, and I couldn't get any of them to play through Halo 2's campaign even once.

I seem to remember Phil Spencer tweeting about this. IIRC, he said that a theoretical H2A release would only make sense if they came correct with the multiplayer this time.
I think what he meant by that is that halo 2 was the first halo game to have full fledged online multiplayer. And it kinda kickstarted that aspect in console games. So not having multiplayer this time around wouldn't be something he would be ok with.

I liked Halo 2 but it's abrupt ending always made me feel like it was an unfinished game.

I'm hoping for Halo 2 HD and Halo 5 this year. Unlikely, but a man can dream.

They are pretty massive. I think nearly 400 people? Also, they laid a lot of the technological and artistry groundwork for the next game with Halo 4, so theoretically it shouldn't take as long.

That was temporary I believe near crunch to get the game finished and shipped. I swear I read an interview with Kiki where she discusses this. Also, keep in mind, even with the size, they did outsource things like CG as well.

It's an all new system, that's the biggest problem. Sure they'll reuse assets, retool the Halo 3/Reach engine that was completely retooled for Halo 4, but they also did get a new art director. I don't know, I just can't see it happening so fast.

Halo 2 Anniversary I can believe because they'll get Sabre and CA to do what they did for CEA, while making sure it runs flawless etc. At this point, I choose to believe Ntkrnl, a lot of what he said came to be true. Even better if his leak of Halo 5 beta being a part of H2A because it'll mean they're prepared for Halo 5 launch better.

day one, whatever it ends up being. i really liked halo 4. played the campaign a few times and played about a hundred hours or so of the multiplayer before i fell off the game.

I doubt it. It's their biggest franchise. And after halo 4, they probably want to make sure to get it right.

Was Halo 4 really much of a disaster in Microsoft's eyes? It reviewed well and it sold well. Other than player retention, I can't see them scrambling to make the next one that much better.

More or less. But they have been very vocal in communicating that they hearing what fans say. So maybe it will more people happy this time.

As long as they make the narrative easier to follow I'm happy.

The pessimist in me says that whilst 343i might understand this, Microsoft won't and therefore won't budge on the development cycle. But who knows, Phil's in charge now so I'm a lot more trusting.

DLC sales was undoubtedly effected by the dwindled player base, and MS(and other platform holders) are likely more invested in making sure their IPs are taken care of more than third party publishers.

Even if the development cycle doesn't change, then they could still change the game itself. But looking at how much money Microsoft is putting into Halo with the tv show and so on, I imagine they understand the need to not ruin the quality of the brand.

But I have a hard time understanding what went wrong with 4 since I only play the campaign once and maybe ten MP matches.

This has probably been said already but I think it's halo 2A and will probably be released at the same time as the rest of the world launch. September/October?

Halo 5 is supposed to be very different from the older games - more or less open world and very ambitious.

Halo 2 had the worse SP out of any of the main titles. If this is going to be H2A I hope to god they expanded things. Halo 2 reeked of compromise and rush.

Halo 2 had my favorite campaign. :o It had the most unique biomes from any of the games, in my opinion. From the anti-grav area on Cairo Station, fighting through New Mombasa with Sgt. Johnson, those structures in the water on the ring and fighting the Prophet. It was all pretty grand to me. xD But I loved every Halo (even Reach) made by Bungie so maybe I'm a fanboy.

hope it;s on xbox360 as well. no way imma buy an xbone. halo 1 anniversay is on xbox360 they need to have halo 2 on that as well.

I'm not sure, but I think you must be some sort of logical mastermind.

Halo 5, a Microsoft console exclusive, is a pre-release general shooter game to be released in December of 2014.
More information is on the way! Check back soon!
Pre-release shooter? Microsoft console exclusive? Releasing October 1st but in December of 2014?

What have these Wal*Mart interns been smoking lately?

Everytime i see one of these "Said game is to be very ambitious and interesting/game-changing." All i can think of is someone screaming "GUYS!...HAI GUYS....THIS GAME IS GOING TO BE A GAME!"
