Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

I grinned when I saw this.

As I've mentioned in another thread, I'm really happy that Dillon (a character from a more recent Nintendo I.P.) is being represented in some fashion in SSB4, and he's a great addition in every respect.

With that said, I'm curious to see if Sakurai will might include a character that represents the Game Boy Advance, the Nintendo DS, & Nintendo 3DS.

But it is. My problem with wavedashing isn't that it's difficult or unfun. My problem is that it doesn't actually add anything to the game. It lets you do something you can already do faster. If you're not good at that thing, doing it faster isn't going to help you. If you are then you suddenly have a huge advantage over someone who is just as good as you, but can't do this one thing. How does that even make sense?

Otherwise, I agree with all the previous points made, except the one about infinite air dodges. I think they could add a lot to the game, but they'd need to be heavily tweaked to work. If the option is one or the other, though, I'd rather have directional air dodges. So much more useful, but the two shouldn't be mutually exclusive.

I am seriously curious to know exactly what kind of tweaks to infinite air dodging are you talking about? If you feel so adamant about, surely you can give an example?

Just got an email from Amazon saying that my order of the 3DS version would be coming January 05, 2015 lol

That would really suck.

Nintendo forcing Sakurai to delay the 3DS version so that the Wii U version sells more than 8 copies (which would be a 100% attache rate, but still...).

The point of infinite air dodges was to improve the midair game. If they add back directional air dodges with a null input period after that also increases your falling speed (so you can't just air dodge your way back to the stage from the boundary), I think it could work. It'd take a lot of testing to get the gravity and exact timing right. But basically make air dodging at the wrong time easily punishable, so abusing it is riskier than using recovery.

Not only we got no Meta Knight... Dillon was also disconfirmed as playable.

Joking, it's actually a nice assist trophy, that's an awesome model right there!

My favorite AT is still Color TV-Game 15. Its graphics are perfect, it's obscure, it's historically significant, and it goes to show how wide of an array of video games Nintendo has under its belt.

First in a smash game? Yes.

No, I meant the first screenshot.

Pretty sure it was in the million screenshots we got after the direct.

Late to the party once again. :/

But this reminds me. Is this the first new transformative item we've had since Melee? We've had tons of projectile weapons and bludgeoning weapons, but we haven't really seen any that give your character special powers and abilities.

Does Franklin Badge count?

Actually if you consider they only sold 8 Wii Us, selling more than 8 copies gives them a higher than 100% attache rate.

I'm pretty chuffed to see Dillon as an AT, since he unfortunately had no chance in hell of being playable.
He'll probably just roll around and possibly slash people but it'd be neat if he could throw out one of his gimmicky bombs or drop a turret before he departs.

Dammit, seeing those screens only strengthens my desire to see him playable, this is how the other people stung by AT reveals must feel.

Pic of the day. We didn't introduce ALL of the Assist Trophies in the Smash Bros. Direct. Here's Dillon from Dillon's Rolling Western!! He may rival Sonic in the art of rolling.

Pic of the day. This is his trophy. He may be an animal, and his buckles are definitely on the adorable side, but there's no denying he looks cool!! His Assist Trophy can even do things like a quick charge.

Nice to see that he's an AT.

Hopefully they make him playable next time so that Nintendo finally considers giving him an actual good game.

Nice to see Dillon getting any representation .... but he would work best as Sonic alternate costume =/
I'd rather him be a AT than be reduced to a colour scheme for Sonic.

Though saying that Sonic certainly needs more colours than blue, blue and blue.

Character models are looking great.

Oh man. I would really love Dillon to be playable, but I didn't expect to see him in at all, so this is really awesome! He looks badass.

Looks pretty good, can't wait for how this compares to the Ridley AT model

but he would work best as Sonic alternate costume =/

Considering how the Sonic alternate colors in Brawl couldn't even actually change his colors, just the tone of his fur slightly, and some accessories, I don't know how you'd ever expect Sega to allow him to be replaced by a completely different character who's not even owned by them.

He's a boss, not an AT.

Also, I really like Dillons design, it's a shame both of his games are bad. I was expecting him to just be a trophy if that.

Also, if not all ATs were revealed in the Direct, that still leaves room for fan-favorite AT Isaac!

The model look fantastic. I'm glad that he got in the game as Assist Trophies but he would be great character to play with if he was playable character. (I watched few youtube to see how he work.)

I approve. Would have been nice for him to be playable to give people a bit more exposure to one of Nintendo's latest IPs, but I approve.

I agreed. I really need to pick up the games tho. Maybe when I managed to have extra cash on side, then I would more likely to pick up those two games.

Dillion! Yes!

I would have loved playable, but that was a pipe dream. I'm glad he's represented at all.

He really highlights the difference between the new ATs and the old ones in terms of overall model quality.

I wonder. I found it weird that quality of Dillion being better than any new assist trophies so far. I can't help but wondering if they had a original plan that Dillion were meant to be playable character but got nixed and becomes assist trophies instead.

I'm pretty sure that it's really wild hyperbole if any of you take me serious. Haha. I'm astonished by Dillion's quality.

I wouldn't say he looks better, most of the new assist trophies are really high quality.
