I find it hard to believe Sonic was ever off the table.
Dunno about Shulk and Chorus men. At least dillon was shown off at E3 2011 (not directly in press conference, but I think in one of the press video reels). Don't know if i can say the same about shulk or chorus men. I could be wrong.
I don't think he's prominent enough. Maybe in the next Smash if he gets more games by then, preferably full retail ones. I hope he does, because the character design is great.

Dammit to hell! What a demotion to an otherwise actually nice character. Obscure as he may be, I was hoping a new Nintendo IP would have better representation. I'll be drinking some hot chocolate to some sad music :[
Especially with that five game exclusivity deal.
Yeah, the series is full of neat designs and characters but the low-key releases and frankly rather boring gameplay don't do him terribly many favors.
I'd actually like to see them use him in an straight up Zelda-style adventure, he's already got the toolkit for it.

Shulk was part of operation rainfall, which at least got internet fame, and he might show up in X, although I'd agree that he's the biggest stretch.
The Chorus Men on the other hand are arguably the main characters of the most post popular game in a series with three games. They're above Dillon at least.
At the very least, they both had games that a random person could see on a Walmart shelf or advertisement.

That shot with Dillion and Sonic is brutal. Seeing the stupid character who made it in next to such an awesome one that only made it as an AT is sad.
As much as I would have liked Dillion, I'm pretty thankful we got at Sonic at all (despite if Sega makes a mediocre game with him now and then).

Was it only three? Thank goodness. Opens up the possibility for another multi plat Sega Kart racer if that deal is over.

Yeah, I thought this was supposed to be an All-star game, but instead we're getting nobodies like Sonic playable while Dillon, a central pillar of gaming history, is only an AT.

Ridley is one of the few characters that I don't care for as a playable character. Actually, the only person I'd ever be upset about not making the cut is Mr. Game and Watch, but we all know he's in

Even though you're wrong about that, I still agree with your original statement, Dillon is too important to get snuffed by Sonic of all people. I mean, who?
Xenoblade was basically brushed under the table by NOA. I don't recall them showing off any trailers for it at all. I also don't think rhythm heaven ever made an E3 appearance, either. I dunno. They're probably pretty close, though. All 3 relatively obscure to the world at large.
Me too. Even worse would be to see the rise of "nobody cared about the character anyways" comments. Would be heartbreaking to see the handheld character that led to the creation of the Gameboy so under appreciated.
I'd think Shulk's inclusion would be a good representation of the work Monolith Soft has done in the past. We all know they're formed from guys that have a history of working on some of the best RPGs. I'd say it's fair to include a character that would be a good representation of the work they've done. The only character, aside from Riki, that would fit the bill is Shulk since he's Nintendo's property. Sorry dude from Baten Kaitos.

All Pokemon should have their shiny colors as a palette swap.
Pikachu already has it and is wearing a hat. Jigglypuff's shiny color is confusing.
It was odd that Lucario didn't have a shiny color in Brawl, but I'm guessing they will remedy that.
Charizard was a part of Pokemon Trainer so it seems like they were limited in pallette swap selection due to all of PT's Pokemon having to be of the similar hues. Now that limitation is gone, Charizard should get it.
And Greninja.
Also, I'm guessing Pikachu will get these people's hats?

The first two seem legit but there is no such thing as an atmospheric region of space. You need a planet for an atmosphere ;P

You were making fun of him for not acknowledging a joke that he likely didn't think was funny enough to respond to in the first place. What was he supposed to say? "Haha good one that's great"?
