RUMOR: Project Beast (From Software/Sony Japan Studio, PS4) [Port begging = ban]

Damn! JP-developed action-adventure game? Sign me up! Might be one of Sony's E3 megatons. Hope the other surprises won't be leaked like this. I mean, sure, it's fun, but I'd rather be blown away at E3. :D

Cheerful reminder for the cry babies: games cost money to make. People, as in the developers, need to be paid cashmoney to spend hundreds of hours chipping away at their creations in order for them to come to fruition. If they don't have money, they cannot do this, because they need to eat, pay bills, feed families, buy cocaine, fuck hookers, and whatever else. No moneys, no games.

Enter the publisher. The developer often pitches a project they assuredly do not have money to pay for on their own. Publisher agrees to pay their wages and ensure the game actually gets made and shipped.

Catch: Publishers often have requirements to sweeten their end of the deal. This is fair. This is business. Because it's their goddamn money paying for a game that would otherwise not exist.

Example: Bayonetta 2. SEGA partially funded a project they technically owned, pitched by Platinum Games. SEGA ultimately decided "fuck that" and pulled the plug. Enter Nintendo, who struck a deal to finish paying for the project. Ergo, Wii U exclusive.

This is the same case, most likely. Project Beast/Demon's Souls 2 needed funding. Those people making the game need someone to pay their wage, so they can make the goddamn game, and eat/shit/fuck. Sony is, by all rumours, funding this project. No Sony, no game as you see it.

Hence exclusivity.

I keep imagining Sony starting a trailer at E3, not saying what the game is but looking a whole lot like Demon's/Dark Souls, then the trailer cuts to black and we hear: "So that the world might be mended. So that the world might be mended." Boom to title card: Demon's Souls 2.

Madness ensues.

"TGS will be a Beast of a show"

oh so this is most likely a TGS reveal and not an E3 reveal then

He probabily meant TGS '13.
Looks like it was originally set to be revealed at last year's E3, then skipped TGS too, so obviously next E3 is where's at.

Why would people be up in arms over exclusivity? Isn't Studio Japan helping development? So... Sony... is helping development?

Am I missing something?

People are disappointed that there's another exclusive Souls game after two of them were multi-plat, and that's understandable.
Still, with Sony helping they'll probably be able to push out a more solid product.

So happy if true...... That atmosphere looks fucking amazing.... Full-on Berserk roleplay now possible?

Lucky I already spilled all my soda.

Well it certainly looks like a real video game.

I'm also heard this name uttered multiple times for the project so it seems plausible.

Edit:

Okay so since a lot of people seem to be questioning if this is real, let's do a quick analysis:

Do the screenshots look like something that someone could have easily photoshopped? Are there screenshots of a game, or only a logo? Are there multiple of them? Do they show any signs of being from a different game? Is the scope of the screenshots within the realm of something a hoaxer could make in a short period of time? Do they resemble other games from the purported developer? Has there been any supporting evidence anywhere else?

I would propose these look like an actual video game that has both From's art direction and technology. We know Yoshida hinted at something along these lines at one point as well, as we know that From Software has both senior and non-senior staff that worked on Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1 that was unaccounted for in Dark Souls 2.

Now, obviously the logo for the studio and the game could have been faked much easier, but in context there's not too much reason to disbelieve them.

Sounds right to me. I'm pretty sure this info has a healthy amount of truth behind it and might actually be dead on.

There is never a reason to make a game exclusive, unless it is completely made by Sony, M$ or Nintendo. From Software isn't owned by any of those three companies, I have no idea why they are making another exclusive game. They are shitting on the people that buy their games, but have either PCs or Xboxes. Even worse than From Software making it an exclusive, is the people who actually thinks this is a good thing.

Actually Demon's Souls was developed with assistance of SCE Japan Studio and if i'm not mistaken the IP belongs to Sony, so no, it can happen and no, they aren't shitting on anyone.

Besides if this is Miyazaki's new project then it must have been in development since before Dark Souls 2 and that's why he wasn't head of DS2 project and he was reluctant to say why.

I don't know if this one is the real deal, if you ask me they only possible way to fake this could be to make a mod for DS PC, a very sophisticated mod that would take a lot of effort so logically it's very unlikely. I think and i hope it's legit.

What i can say though is that watching those screens my heart skipped a bit in anticipation of a Souls game that is as dark and menacing as DeS and as this one looks. I say bring it on.

So the world might be mended....again. BOOM!

Interesting to see what they can pull off without having to worry about other platforms. Hopefully we see it at e3 and don't have to wait until TGS.

Resolution sucks but exciting none the less.

wasn't that Shadow of the Beast? That post is from June 2013.

No, I'm pretty sure that this game's announcement has been delayed a couple of times.

"Screw that crap, if I don't play it, no one will!"

Fake?

There's a cursor on every image. It seems like the leaker somehow had a video of it and capped these shots.
