RUMOR: Project Beast (From Software/Sony Japan Studio, PS4) [Port begging = ban]

Screw Sony defense force, I'm pretty sure so many of us want this on PC as well. Hope they deliver eventually.
I wouldn't mind this on PC at all, hell I'd prefer it.

But apparently to some people in this thread pointing out that if the part of this being codeveloped by SCEJ is true means this is never, ever getting ported to PC is being a Sony fanboy.

Project BEAST getting 100K+ more views than CODAW on the same leak day. Well then.

Is GAF growing up?

Doubt it. Everyone knows there is a yearly COD update that is more or less the same as the previous year's. This game was entirely unexpected, and it's a Sony exclusive at that....

I wonder if the Kadokawa buyout of From changes this at all or did Sony make the deal that gets around it?

A smart buyer isn't going to come in and torch existing projects, that will only hurt the value of the purchase.

They are also well aware of From's assets and projects during the purchase project. The books were opened.

I am not ashamed of wanting a hype new game for one of my favorite franchises ever on PC. I played Dark 1 and Dark 2 on PC, and I am pretty much exclusively a PC gamer and didn't really want to buy a next-gen console until maybe a bit more than a year after coming out.

Also yeah everyone is getting angry and quoting me, sorry I didn't know it was apparently being assisted by SCE again like they did for Demons. I missed that somewhere during the hype. Sorry about that.

It's just kind of sad to see Fromsoft turn their back on the PC gaming community when they finally started tuning an ear to us for once, which most Japanese developers never do. They even developed Dark Souls 2 for the PC in mind first.

I would say you'd have to thank Bamco for that, if they weren't involved, FROM probably wouldn't have bothered with a port. depending on the success of this new project, who says there isn't a possibility to port it to PC? as easy as porting things back and forth (apparently) is, it might not be a huge issue to convince sony to go PC as well.

i simply cannot view this (Project Beast) as anything more than reactionary to "whats hot with the kids right now". they revitalized an increasingly formulaic genre (action RPGs) with a lot of new ideas (asynchronous MP) and some old ones that fell out of favor (roguelikes) and have essentially created their own market in which they are the top provider. i just don't want to see 'Souls' style games become the next Dynasty Warriors in which every release is marginally iterative on the last one, and people just keep buying them "because it's hard and there's fucked up enemies and stuff".

i realize that i'm being exceedingly hyperbolic AND reductive here. i'd just like to see a little more innovation and novelty in their games going forward. just stop basing everything off the same core template of "shit's dark, everything hates you, and it looks vaguely like medieval Europe".
Demon's Souls was an iteration of their work on the King's Field series. They've been making these games for twenty years now. There's nothing 'hot right now' about why they make these games.

I love how everyone is just calling it Beast Souls.

Dark Souls just went into Beast Mode. That is what I'm always going to think if that is the real title.

That't not crazy.

Ok maybe thinking AGENT still exists is a little crazy.

Not that crazy. The less likely one is Agent but Rockstar needs to announce something. They never go one year without releasing a game, its strange enough that they didn't announce something already for 2014 as well as something for 2015.

Whaaat TLG and AGENT were up their with FFversus as the biggest vaporware titles. I think that would be a heck of an E3 lineup obviously along with the other stuff like Order, Batman and Destiny.

Well considering the character is wielding a shotgun, I'd say you have nothing to worry about concerning treading old grounds.
King's Field > Demon's Souls/Dark Souls > this game
This won't be just another Souls sequel, it will be something unique.

for fuck's sake From would you make something else for a change?

You know, they have been making the same type of game since their inception. King's Field/Shadow Tower ring a bell? (not counting the PS2 games)

I feel you are just mad that their next game, in line with what they are great at, is not on your console of choice so you must try to shit on it for no reason.

Oh and all those games before DeS got "huge" debuted on Sony's PS1 btw.

Hold onto you Pony. All we really have is a blurry view of FS art style and confirmation it's a 3rd person FS crawler.

FS innovated a shit ton between DeS and DkS. Nothing revealed says they won't innovate a ton, while still being spiritual successors. All we know is they're not changing their art direction to happy go luck rave colors oh. We literaly no nothing about this game yet, except it exists.

Maybe the thread title should be changed from "Japan Studio" to "Sony Japan Studio". Perhaps people just see Japan Studio and assume it's From's Japan studio or something.

More of that "B-Team" nonsense? Anyone have that list of the people who worked on the games? Most were on all three projects.

I get a strange feeling that some of these port beggers seem to think that our discussion in this thread can somehow sway the exclusivity factor (if one exists). How strange.

This thread is faster than light.. my god.

Also wow at the PC crowd up in here. Having a gaming PC does not make you entitled to anything that comes out on consoles. At one point the two hardly shared anything at all.

I don't think they would torch it but with Kadokawa obviously wanting to use From's knowledge to push wider than their normal stuff, would they want to restrict it to one format? I guess being a Japanese company they are hedging their bets.

Just Sayin', I see a cursor in the pics not PlayStation Prompts...

Crazy ass dream scenario:

TLG
Beast Souls
UC4
AGENT
FFXV new trailer
P5 trailer

We might get a AK gameplay trailer at Sony's conference, they seem to have closer ties to WB than MS. There's been some Crash hints too. No doubt stage time for destiny as well. I'm unsure about P5 or Agent, mostly because persona seems like something to be shown at TGS but I'd welcome it at E3 at any rate.

You are being exceedingly hyperbolic and reductive, so you should probably just shut up.

You can do what you're doing in regards to every single video game idea in existence and try to make it sound dumb.

When there are so many video games available out there, why do you choose FROM, who are doing something that no one else is doing, to be the developer that must "do something new?" You don't have to play everything they put out. Not everything announced and marketed in this world is necessarily for you. It's something that we all must come to accept at some point.
