RUMOR: Project Beast (From Software/Sony Japan Studio, PS4) [Port begging = ban]

looks about right, pc master race is green with envy!

Whereas I agree that port begging might be...well less desirable..

There is definitely no reason to poke fun of them with only a PC.

It's really funny how port begging works. Everyone seems to run into each others exclusive threads and say it should be on their console of choice but never to say "I'm glad this game is being made" and to share a personal preference.

I think everything should be on PS4/Vita and PC/Shield so I could either play it wherever.
But that is never going to happen. That's why many of us have multiple places to play on.

I find it really funny that after a 100% bona fide not-controlled leak, a paranoid trend has emerged here over the last several months of claiming that every single leak is controlled by those Dastardly Publishers.

That was an official reveal that was hyped up, we then got trolled tremendously, until bam it was revealed.

This is just BAM PROJECT BEAST. Out of nowhere. I think it would be better to compare it to other leak threads but I don't remember any comparable ones.

I should clarify, P5 had more views than COD lol. Beats is way ahead though this should come to no surprise seeing how popular Souls is on Neogaf, with all the OT's it gets.

These pics screams "controlled leak" from every pixel

Do they now? Which part screams that, exactly? Is it the fact that someone photographed them off a screen instead of leaking actual screengrabs? The fact that they're visibly taken from a trailer reel rather than posed as screenshots? The way they're unceremoniously dumped out rather than used to tease anything that could hold people's attention over time, with still a full month to go before E3?

As always when people start peddling this, I ask: what's the marketing plan that puts this into place? What's the real-money return on investment that's driven by this release of information? If you're the guy who proposes this, what do you say to your boss to explain why you will make more money by releasing bad photos of your game early than you would by saving the reveal for the conference that's being covered by major media outlets?

ntkrnl...

Yes, ntkrnl was another situation where people who didn't know what they were talking about went on and on about "controlled leaks." It really only took about five minutes of thought about things like the canceled XB1 model to understand why that wasn't a marketing-planned leak, but that didn't stop people from opining without any factual basis.

Pretty sure he got banned for that post, so anyone wondering in this thread, don't mess around :p.

It's funny because right about every publisher is paranoid as fuck about footage and they won't ever release footage if it doesn't look polished as fuck.

And then people think said publishers will release blurry screenshots just to please the hardcore fanbase.

IIRC he actually hinted at 3:

1) SCEJ x FROM
2) A smaller scale JRPG
3) A FF AAA JRPG.

Has he said that 1 and 2 are separate projects though? I mean I know he's hinted at all three before but I seem to recall them coming from separate posts, so he could've easily been referring to one project with both hints. That's the way I've always looked at them anyway.

For reference, here's where he hinted at the two JRPGs:

Yes, that is what I was referring to with the first part of my post.

newp, he would be quoted like hell

Because he has been silent, this is probably legitimate.

I'm not interested in this game at all. Didn't like the other soul's games. Don't really understand why people do.

Looks cool. I hope you guys enjoy it.

It sucks that we can't be surprised by stuff as cool as this anymore, I'm pretty bummed out about it as this being revealed at E3 would've been so awesome. To the leakers out there: Your heart may be in the right place (or you think it is), but please don't. It's not worth it imo, you end up doing a disservice to the fans.

Everybody looks pretty hyped on these 3,000+ replies in a few short hours.

Oh man, after finishing Dark Souls 2 just a few days ago, I'm totally up for a spiritual successor to Demon's Souls. I loved all three.

My PS4 is ready.

People really like those games apparently. I hope them being partnered with Sony Japan means we'll get a newer Havok version and better animation blending.

PRAISING INTENSIFIESSSSSSHNGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHAHHHHHHHH.

My reason to buy a ps4 could only be validated by another Souls game, and here it is. /tears

If anything, the presence of guns and emphasis on horror makes this a sort of successor to Shadow Tower.

The only way I'll accept/forgive From Software for their unwillingness to reboot King's Field is if Project Beast implements body party dismemberment through the usage of firearms (like in Shadow Tower Abyss). Oh, and the game better AT LEAST (if all that we're seeing is legit, game looks to be 3rd person) provide a first person view option so I can attempt to emulate a King's Field-like experience with whatever the fuck this game ends up being.

Sorry From, tough love from a vet who's been there since the beginning. =/

Since most of the posters are US based I think it has something to do with the fluoride.
As most people of the world know not to drink the tap water when visiting the states since the US Govt. has been proven to be using a mixture of fluoride and other unknown chemicals to make the populous more docile, more stupid and easier to control. Many people think that this was something the German Govt. or Russian Govt. started with but as we all have come to know, thanks to Fox News, this is actually something the detestable overlord Satan(also known as Obama) did early during the 60s.

Yes you are right. That's unfortunate. Well anyway perhaps to add more while I'm editing.

Can someone point out to me where the Werewolf-esque quality is? All I see is a female Pirate running around, fighting some humanoids and some sort of demonic dog beast.

The key word here is "now," and this is both why every publisher has pushed back reveals to closer to release date and why early leaks can be counter-productive: the hype in this thread is both incredibly localized (to forum users who have approximately 0% influence on how well major games sell once released) and unsustainably early (since people will find some new best-ever game to make gross masturbation references to soon enough.)

The whole point of E3 reveals is to get media attention, because that coverage translates into brand awareness amongst more casual buyers. That media attention is directly reduced by leaks like this, since the game is seen as old news by the time it gets its official reveal.

Whatever it is, I want it.

Be nice to serve up some crow to all those people that yelled about From never working with Studio Japan again, never competing with themselves, and everyone who disagreed was a fanb--Aw forget it. Just happy a new compelling-looking game is being made.

Probably the push I needed to pick up a PS4. Good job, Sony & From. Make games I want, and I'll buy 'em.
