perfection that was the Demon's and Dark 1 animations .

There was a huge discussion in another thread about this issue with people posting gifs side by side that clearly showed that the animations in DS2 were pretty bad compared to the perfection that was the Demon's and Dark 1 animations .

They weren't talking about the animations at all, but rather the hitboxes of the moves. Those things are more about balancing choices done by the devs. It had a lot to do with the gameplay and mechanic changes done between DS1&DS2.

hope we never go back to DS2's constant warping either.

I'm not gonna lie, I liked how easy it was to move between the areas, made hunting for certain things much easier. Though the frequent checkpoints made moving forward far less risky.

Yeah, i agree with that. Thought that the moment i saw dark souls 2 gameplay. Guy looked awesome, but walked that he'd shat himself.

So are you going to give an argument on why a opinion such as Dark Souls 2 being someone's favorite Souls game is so funny that you just post the equivalent of pointing and laughing? Or do expect toxic circle jerks over Dark Souls 2 in every thread you go in?

Why? Think about it the other way. Demons' Souls was an exclusive with Sony helping fund the game. After it becomes a success, From Software goes and makes an unofficial sequel multiplat, thereby bypassing the contract. Ouch. Not a friendly business move. They kind of owe Sony a favour. This game would be that favour.
Not a friendly business move? Sony practically abandoned the game. If they owe anyone a favor it would be Atlus.

I take it I'm the only one that actually preferred the Linear level-select-y approach that Demon's Souls had then...

An interconnected world is fine and all but I just prefer that approach.

The warping made it easy enough to co-op and pvp that you actually wanted to.

No there was another thread were we talked about the animations and there was a GAFfer who was making the running animation gifs and posting them side by side.Even the people who were first saying that DS2 had better animations actually changed their mind when they saw them side by side.

DeS/DaS doesn't have perfect animations either.

For me (and many others) they both had.

I would say the animations in the first Dark Souls game are undisputedly better. You would see it in very subtile stuff like running and walking animation changing depending not only on your gender but also on the weapon you hold, whether you hold it in one or both hands, and how much equipment load your character has. It's these little things which show how much care devs have put into the animations of the game.

And don't bring me to post the slow-motion Dark Souls moveset gifs.

But yes, "perfect" was nothing

Must have missed it. From announcement until recently I have been avoiding every single thread about Dark Souls II as I didn't want to be spoiled.

No, there are others who preferred Demon's Soul design as well. I also preferred Arkham Asylum over Arkham City but both were excellent titles.

Can someone post these comparison gifs? Not that I don't believe it, but I played 40 hours of DS2 and didn't notice anything weird with the animations so I'm just curious.

How did they abandon it? Sony paid for the development of the game, and a Sony Japan Studio producer was one of the primary creative forces behind the game, with Japan Studio and From Software working together on the project. They just didn't know how big it would be and didn't give it a worldwide release?

Hey guys, what's going on in this...

Hnnnngggg

And me (any many others) still think DS2 is in some ways a better game than Dark Souls, yet i do not laugh about their opinions.

Oh now all of a sudden that has become your problem on our discussion?

Yet when someone says that X game pisses all over Y game without backing it up then you have no problem with it (since you also happen to like X game more)?
Nice hypocritism there.

You might want to learn about what actually happened instead of coming up with a revisionist theory.

Yeah, the warping is good but I don't know how I would change it. Maybe only allow certain areas for warping instead of every location?

Yup, I'm down with this for sure. I still have to beat Dark Souls, and maybe pick up Dark Souls 2, but I admit I was kind of holding out for a Dark Souls 2 PS4 version, but that's ok.

The setting of this game has me frothing at the mouth. I don't know, I just love the 1800's, with a supernatural twist. It's why I'm so pumped for The Order. This game definitely has me intrigued.

I have to say I love the new aesthetics, it doesn't look very similar to the prior Souls games which makes me excited as hell to see a trailer. I'm interested to see how guns work as long as alternative melee and spell based combat is still prominent which I expect them to be.

I'd hope it retained demon's souls universe, lore, systems, mechanics and responsive controls (something dark souls lost or fucked up, especially dark souls 2's controls) but maybe this game screws it up too?

Well, Fromsoftware didn't arbitrarily alter the mechanics because it was a new universe. And I don't agree that Dark Souls fucked up the controls. The animations are slightly slower (not any less responsive), but the movesets had enhanced spacial meaning and a greater emphasis on timing.

Souls fans are quickly becoming like No Mutants Allowed.

Can't wait until Bethesda buys the IP. :V

edit: I just remembered, there were guns in Shadow Tower: Abyss, the "Proto-Souls" game. So hey, there's that.

I don't think there are any comparison gifs. I was talking about simple 60fps gifs of certain weapon movesets from Dark Souls.

But I've seen some really stupid looking animations in a couple of videos.

Like this one here: http://youtu.be/t2xPah553Ew?t=12m27s
Look at the way the hollow soldier thing walks....

Brave enough to point and laugh, not brave enough to explain why that behavior makes sense or is welcome. Bravo, you'll really change my mind on Souls topics with the way you handled yourself.

What does this post have anything to do with laughing at someone's opinion outright without saying a single thing? Am I the boogie man? Did you think I would stop posting if I saw "ahahahaha"?

Not going to divert the thread any more, so lets just say we agree to disagree.

Still hope this isn't DeS 2 but a new Souls game with new lore and new mechanics.
