Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

Predicting a picture of one of the Namco Assist Trophies/Items to tease a Pacman reveal at E3. Donno if it'll be today, but definitely one day in the few weeks left before E3.

We're getting a song for the Loading Screen.
We'll also get a loading screen mini game.

It will happen because Bandai Namco.
and THE IDOLM@STER!

Man I hope the controls on 3DS are good
The 3DS camera monitors you to make sure you're doing a handstand while balancing a stack of dirty dishes on your feet, otherwise it doesn't recognize your inputs, which mind you are done via a combination of voice command and calligraphy via the stylus.

If by something you mean something significant, I wouldn't get your hopes up.

We might get something, we might not, we just need to keep our expectations in check.

SOMETHING IS HAPPENING

a man in japan is going to upload a picture of a game in development onto the internet and it will get overanalyzed

My hopes are always up! You should know me by now, I hype it all up. Just like Isaac being playable. *ahem* I expect things to go very well this coming week, all good things!

I'm more interested in new stages than characters right now. Aside from Halbird & Jungle Japes, the only new stage shown in the direct was Balloon Fight. We have yet to see a new DK, new Kirby, Star Fox, or Yoshi stage in either version. For 3DS in particular there's no known Metroid, Sonic, Mega Man, Pikmin, or Wii Fit stage (though granted it'd be understandable if the last 2 weren't in 3DS). & of course Wario, F-Zero, Earthbound & the like are up in the air. This close to release I'm starting to wonder if either or both versions will have lower stage counts than Melee or Brawl.

Why wouldn't they be?
I find the buttons responsive enough, but the shoulder buttons can feel a bit squishy and I've already had to get the circle pad fixed once. I'm sure SSB43DS will be fun, but I'm not sure with the controls how it'll compare to the console counterpart. I guess I could always get a Circle Pad Pro if the game supports it.

Before today, I wasn't opposed to the Ghostly Adventures version of Pac-Man. Now after buying and playing the Wii U version of that awful freaking game, I have now changed my mind.

Please Sakurai... not that one.

Which character reveal could singlehandedly make your E3?

For me, it's Palutena. I adore her design. As of Uprising, I also adore her character. One of the funniest and all-around coolest characters to ever appear in a Nintendo title.

Now if they revealed Palutena AND Pac-Man, I'd go into hype overdrive.

Pac-Man, for me, isn't so much about him and his games, as it is my love of gaming in general. He's one of the Founding Fathers of Modern Gaming, if you would -- his head would appear alongside Mario, Sonic and Mega Man on gaming's Mount Rushmore. He also perfectly complements DK and Little Mac as a fellow grand-daddy of the arcade scene.

It's a symbolic tip of the hat to one of the most iconic characters in videogames. A character who by his very silhouette is instantly recognizable as an emblem of gaming.

So yeah, those two would get me PUMPED. Depending on how Chrom is implemented (I.E. with Lucina, or perhaps summoning other fighters), I could get really hyped about him, too, since Awakening was an incredible game.

Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton.

Unrealistic expectations but fuck it, I'm driving this train to the moon
Both Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton (or better yet, Layton & Luke) would be incredibly deserving candidates given they more or less made their name over multiple iterations across multiple Nintendo portables. And a Layton stage with the Monte d'Or theme would quickly become one of my most-played stages!

They'd make a cool DLC package: The two characters, plus their stages, music, items, ATs and trophies. :)

Oh god please make the horrible shrieking from this mutant cartoon character stop.

Imagine this. A character pops up and the song plays.

GAMESTART!

At the same time you have a mini-game akin to the Dragon Ball Budokai series where you murder your analog sticks trying to get Muten Roshi float across the screen.

For those who haven't played the Playstation Dragon Ball Games, think Wonderful 101's loading screen.

It's genius.

Yeah Phoenix Wright would make it for me.

Also if we're going down this Idolmaster road, Hatsune Miku is pretty big and the Project Diva games (with the Project Mirai spin-offs on 3DS) are some of Sega's biggest titles. If Sakurai is okay with having multiple characters from a single third-pary then there's a tiny tiny tiny tiny sliver of chance she would be in and that would pretty much make my E3.

I want the Koopalings as playable characters. All seven of them. Accessible from one slot. You only bring one into battle, so it's not a switch character -- as we all know, those are gone. Rather, it's one moveset based around their magic wands, shell-spinning, etc., and whichever one you choose affects their weight, power, speed, etc.

So same moves, same attacks, but if you pick Roy, he'll fall faster but hit harder than, say, Wendy, who can jump higher and move faster.

I think Pac-Man should look like this:

And as a nod to Pac-Man's roots, his final smash could be him turning into his 8-bit self while chasing down other players who have been turned into blue ghosts.

I think that would be a great way to utilize them.

That and the Saibaiman one were fun.

G'Day, smashGAF! I can... actually post now, instead of reading in silence? Kinda surreal. I've been basically lurking in this thread since last September - shortly after Peach was revealed, I found out that the pictures on smashbros.com actually came with captions, and Googling "super smash bros picture discussion intelligent" eventually led to me stumbling upon this forum. If I'd known that it would take several months to get an account activated, I probably would have worked up the courage to register sooner... or not.

So yeah, I've come to the conclusion that this place is sufficiently crazy to meet my requirements for a good time. If someone can spend an entire day debating the wingspan of a giant purple space dragon without repeating themselves more than three times, then they MUST be doing something right with their life - and I mean that sincerely!

SSB4 was just secretly cancelled while you weren't looking
