Whole vibe reminds me of Tekkonkinkreet but I have no idea what they're looking for as inspiration. Either way it's nice to see some vibrance and the way Edge describe it as like a Dreamcast game is music to my ears.

Funny thing, in their twitch interview, they mentioned Tekkonkinkreet as one of their influences!

Could be really good, looks like it's going to have that fun element akin to ssx tricky. wish it wasn't xbone exclusive though as I won't be getting me one of those.

We visited Insomniac HQ in Burbank, California to be the first media in the world to play Sunset Overdrive as the studio explained how it intends to put the fun back into shooters – the game brings to mind Tony Hawk, Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Prince Of Persia and the blue skies and bright colours of the Dreamcast era.

I still find it interesting that insomniac decided to develop exclusively for the xb1.

It doesn't work quite like that. They have a project idea, various publishers come in to see it, and Microsoft signs it. Perhaps MS put the best offer on the table in terms of cash, development support, marketing etc. Also games tend to get 'noticed' a bit more when they're exclusive. They get free marketing in every fanboy argument :)

When are we getting a full preview? :(

I thought it would be Quantum Break that tips me over the edge in to buying a XBO. But it's looking increasingly like it'll be this game too!

I assume SO has a full single player campaign? It's not another Titanfall is it?

The problem with Sony was that they wouldn't let them have the rights on their IP, while they want to have full control on their IP instead. When they "left" Sony, they were trying to prevent what happened to Spyro.

They were right, because then they saw Sony giving their two IPs to a Btier developer (Nihilistic) who made two crappy games (PSM Heroes and Resistance Burning Skies). Not to mention the shitty ports of Ratchet and Clank Qforce Vita and Ratchet Gladiator HD. It's understandable that you don't want things like these to happen.

That being said, I hope that SO will be the only exclusive Xbox game from IG.

Insomniac seems to have lost their mojo the last few years. That's an awesome magazine cover but I'm looking forward to seeing actual gameplay footage of this game.

I do hate that they went from making exclusives to..making exclusives...

"fun" you say?

have been enjoying garden warfare way too much to disagree with putting fun in shooters. bring on the preview

Isn't the player character customizable? I remember reading that...

Yeah, I think you're right.

My bad, had a brain freeze...

That is a kickass cover though and I guess it confirms the original art style is still untouched, so no worries about this being another Fuse in that regard.

really does amaze me how hard Insomniac screwed over it's fan base though. i mean we are talking about playstation owners over all these years.... but the kick in the teeth was how they so obviously pulled creative IP from that game they released last year ... i mean when that thing came out it was so generic .... yet the E3 debut of the game had it looking almost exactly like sunset overdrive ... i mean come on.

pretty fucking average. wonder if they regret jumping ship now.

I don't think they regret getting their new game funded, marketing being done mostly by the publisher and retaining IP ownership.

What are you even talking about?

is this the next "shot yourselves in the foot, kiss your game goodbye" moment?

Sounds too good to be true.

Just a couple more hours to go...

how many?

To be honest, I think the style looks similar to fuse. I am interesting in seeing what they output with this one. I quite enjoyed R & C ToD and Resistence series. I do think they have yet to release a truly great game though. They really need to deliver on this one considering how Fuse was recieved.

Look at all that juice!
Sorry, someone had to do it.

It's like they're trying to troll me by deliberately telling me exactly what I want to hear. Now I'm scared that I'm going to be disappointed.
