Playfire Rewards Discussion Thread

Starting up these old school Star Wars games and having to tinker endlessly just to get them to run for a few minutes was amusing and brought back memories of the early days of PC gaming. I sure am glad I don't have to do that stuff nearly as much now though.

Edit: It's currently impossible to play Battlefront II or Empire at War unless you bought them and installed early in the sale, they are out of keys and the games won't boot at all. I even tried using the key I have from my boxed copy, but it won't run from steam at all.

I'm new in the playfire beta, they just started some new rewards for Darksiders 2, I finished this game a while ago, I guess several achievements are already done(20hrs with 32/50 achivements). I need to reinstall it?

While you can't get rewards for what you've already done, you're probably in a much better position now to get some of the highest level rewards that are essentially out of reach for those of us who are just starting the game.

Current plan:
Play each of those Star Wars games for at least 10 minutes to qualify
Get the last 2 rewards in Gunhound EX
Play Space Marine for a bit (I love this game and have it on PS3)
Get as many cheevos off of Darksiders 2 as possible

Interesting, my Playfire balance is updating properly but sadly it's not transferring into my GMG account so I can actually use it. I'll give it a day before I write yet another ticket.

It's a longstanding bug, if you make a purchase it will sync, if you've never bought the Eve Online free trial you can use that.

...and even if you already did buy that free trial, there's another method involving it.
Log out of your GMG account, then attempt to purchase the free online trial, during the final steps log into your account and it should process it and update your GMG credit.

Yeah this is happening for me as well. I've had a bunch of extra credit for days, and it's not transferring to gmg.

I don't understand... why would they give reward for a free game? Is it one of those pay to play games and even then it doesn't make sense.

Maybe they want to bring some attention to it because they personally like it/dev contacted them...?

Honestly, none of the rewards make any sense. They give rewards for games they don't sell, games other sites have on sale (or in bundles), and other games seemingly randomly. I just think at this point they give whatever rewards strikes their mood so they can continue to iron out the bugs and eventually there will be more logic to it. But hey, I'll take 15 cents to try out free games any day.

Unrelated edit: CD keys for Battlefront II and Empire at War are up on steam so both can be played now for the rewards if you couldn't previously.

Apparently the "Kiss Me" achievement for Planet Stronghold is bugged and not unlocking properly (thus the low unlock rate on Steam even though it should happen with any romance). Hopefully it will get corrected quickly.

This has now been corrected (always nice to get rapid Dev response and patching) and so if you get either of the lower playfire achievements you should get the Kiss Me achievement at the same time. You do have to play through quite a bit of the game in order to be able to complete the romance, probably 4-5 hours minimum. You don't need to be nearly as high a level as the strategy guide says so long as you bring plenty of potions to heal between fights.

While I wish Spelunky would win, Strike Suit Zero is better for me since I 100%ed Spelunky a long time ago. :p

I haven't played either on PC, but I know I could probably knock out most of Spelunky's again in a day or two and it would be a lot of fun.

SSZ seems to be very mediocre.

I guess they are referring to the original SSZ in the H2H and not the Directors Cut version. So my achievements won't be tracked since I own the DC, right?

My playfire profile shows £2.50 but my GMG profile shows £1.65, how long should it take for them to equalise?

That sadly is a glitch but there's a way to fix it.
Buy a Free EVE Online trial and checkout. Your GMG credit should match Playfire's.

Ugh wish Playfire spread out the SS games so it's one game per week. All in one week seems like overkill.

Shit, I've already "bought" that, any other ways?

If I use SAM now will I get money for the last couple of Dark Souls II achievements I need? I almost made it to the end but money's money.

edit: nvm lol, I see the disclaimer at the bottom. TIME TO GRIND DkS2 TODAY. And also, someone should save Alo before he does it.

Didn't we have a playfire rep posting in this thread? Did he just disappear?

Because my GMG balance isn't updating either and I don't think buying a free trial is the intended way to do it.

Just took a look at the playfire reward forum and yeah it's a mess, loads of people are having problems =/

PS: For the "Play for first time" rewards, is there a time limit to that? Couldn't I just boot the game up and then just quit?

The system is weird and don't always work, but with the star wars games i just booted for a minute an it worked.

Seems like my play fire account is going to be "refreshed" . Hope that fixes things
Just got an email and so is mine (after a month I opened the ticket), although it does say it'll take about 24 hours for it to be refreshed.

radMonkey is, but he hasn't posted in this or the Steam thread(s) for a while.

Yeah, it says 24 hours but things only seem to look a little better. My recent activity now shows some "Mirror of Fate" achievement that I acquired in mid April. However, it still does not show me having acquired the achievements for rewards in Papers, Please (2 of them) and Dark Souls 2 (all of them).

For the Dark Souls 2 ones, they do not show up in recent history, but it does show that I have all of the achievements in my Games tab..

Of course, I will give it 24 hours to see how things refresh

argh, this system!
