Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Remakes Announced for 3DS

I initially thought this was an April Fools joke.

On May 7th.

Interestingly, the Japanese logos for the games have the Omega and Alpha symbols in the same place where the Mega symbol went on the X and Y logo. These same symbols can be seen on Groudon and Kyogre's arms, respectively.

Someone should remove those Omega and Alpha symbols from the logo so we can put them on our avatars. I tried... and failed.

Basically I just ran through every gym with a normal type poodle Pokémon, occasionally bringing in some reserves. Then the online multiplayer and "meta" game (I'm using this term without really understanding what is meant by it) is incredibly complex and seems to require a tremendous amount of base knowledge to compete in. Every Pikachu isn't the same? Jesus, I not only have to learn 700 Pokémonsters but also how to spot which ones have better propensities suited to their strengths?

There needs to be a middle ground between the too-easy single player game and then the people who have been learning their Pokémon for almost 20 years. I really did enjoy walking through the world in X, though.

When playing through the story of Pokemon, you don't need to worry about all of the details that make up the competitive metagame. Take your time learning type matchups and abilities before you go there.

Superior Blastoise better get twice as many Alpha and Omega evolutions as that inferior Charizard does, I'm still bitter about that useless fire gecko getting preference in X & Y and in Smash.
 
Oh wow, I just realized Groudon and Kyogre have different patterns.

Mega Kyogre... How the fuck do you balance that?

So hyped, i can't believe they actually decided to release this, i was expecting it next year if they did a X / Y "sequel".

Can't wait though!! Emerald was my favorite game for a long time. Can't wait to see beautiful 3d Hoenn.
 
I'm excited. Gen 3 was special to me. I was in high school during the peak of Gen 2 and got made fun of for playing Pokemon so I quit. Then once Ruby/Sapphire came out I went back and have been playing them ever since.
 
Yes! Glad they finally announced this. Can't wait!
It had better have secret bases though. The lack of them in the last and current generations is terrible...

Anyways, this announcement was quite a surprise and the trailer is barebones as hell. I don't remember another Pokemon game being announced with so little to go on. While it's my least favorite generation, it's definitely the one that needs a remake the most.
 
The coolest thing about Ruby/Sapphire was the tree house mechanic.

I loved being able to battle an AI controlled version of my friends. I hope that's back in the remake, but with even more people.

I don't know if you're kidding or not but she's one of my favourite characters so I'd be up for a cameo. 'Oh hey I was just in your region cus I research myths and a big monster caused a drought recently, seen any regis around here? Also, Garchomp.' Do it Game Freak.

That is why I have no hopes of Game Freak fixing some of the annoying stuff from RSE. I am just hyping 3D Hoenn, the remixed music and hopefully more mega evolutions.

Diamond and Pearl had the best music, just behind Ruby and Sapphire. I could list every awesome theme in the game, but I will just post the best route theme to ever grace the series.

We are likely getting only new Mega Evolutions in the remake, I think. I do think Game Freak might put a second batch of new Pokémon in Z/X2Y2, though, but only time will tell.
