I'm fine with that.As one of the starting 8 charactersin pokken fighters!
Oh so that's why it sold badly
Chibi-Robo!, Golden Sun, Captain Rainbow, Sin and Punishment, Custom Robo, and the list goes on. The Wonderful 101 isn't unlike any of those games.I believe this is the first time a third-party has actively created an IP specifically for Nintendo.
So reveal Ridley tomorrow now that everyone isn't expecting it?

First-party - Nintendo developed, Nintendo published (Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, etc.)I wasn't aware that those were all developed by third-parties. Golden Sun is the only one whose developer (Camelot) I'm familiar with, but I thought they were a second-party, especially since they also worked on the Mario Golf and Tennis games.
But I think this just highlights the key difference; Platinum Games are a well-known developer, and as such, it's well-known that they develop games for non-Nintendo systems. So that's where the mistaken notion of Wonderful 101 being third-party is coming from. Again, I still think it's a very easy mistake to make.
Reveal ridley in 3 hours at QA meeting, duh. Nothing will get investors more excited than knowing that ridley will be in smash 4. That means nintendo will hit that 3.8 million expected sales day and date with smash 4 release, all because of ridley.

Yep. Kirby and Fire Emblem are also technically second-party, though Wikipedia is insistent that Nintendo owns HAL and Intelligent Systems (which isn't true).Don't forget Pokemon.
Developed by Game Freak, published by Nintendo
Haha, that would be funny to see someone wait in line to askReveal ridley in 3 hours at QA meeting, duh. Nothing will get investors more excited than knowing that ridley will be in smash 4. Second-Party is a bullshit term that confuses everyone. Best to not use it ever.
I still don't know what it means to this day.

Someone just explained it
So Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon is a second party game. Why not just say it's first party? I don't understand.
So Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon is a second party game. Why not just say it's first party? I don't understand.
Sin and Punishment is a Nintendo IP, and I bet that's not the first time that happened either. But really; it's an easy mistake to make; it was developed by Platinum Games, a third-party studio. Sure, third-party studios have worked on Nintendo franchises before (such as Sega with F-Zero GX and Capcom with Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons, and Minish Cap), but I believe this is the first time a third-party has actively created an IP specifically for Nintendo.
Because it wasn't developed internally?
Luigi's Mansion 2 is a first party game (owned by Nintendo) developed by a second party dev.
Why? It was still published and owned by Nintendo, so it's second party.
I agree the distinction is kind of academic, for all intents and purposes it's first party, but it's not exactly difficult to understand...
So is it first party or second party? Also isn't it developed by a third party in this case?
Why what?
Next Level works exclusively on Nintendo platforms, they are a second party dev.
Why not?
So is it first party or second party? Also isn't it developed by a third party in this case?
Luigi's mansion is a first party property, delevoped by a second-party dev. It is by all accounts still a first party game.
Second party doesn't mean they're in thrall forever to Ninty. Just that they worked on a project that was owned and published by Ninty.
You trying to incite the super purists to come out?For the purposes of Smash does it really matter if a game is developed by a second/third party if the IP is owned by Nintendo?
Why not what?
You trying to incite the super purists to come out?they don't exist, at least I hope not
Who?
Oh, I know. Hence the spoiler. I was just fucking with him. lol
<3
As long as they have had some history of being on a Nintendo platform, they should be eligible.Oh, I'm sure they exist somewhere. I don't think it should matter who develops it.
How?
So I made a chart for items in alphabetical order with the red marker indicating whether an item is new or not. May have made some mistakes. If I did, please point them out.

So many new items from Mario, Zelda and Kid Icarus in particular, I think they could've shared the wealth a bit more among other series there but I suppose not every game has that many logical item choices that'd fit in.
Mario universe has so many interesting potential items the fact they made that fire block sword kinda annoys me.So many new items from Mario, Zelda and Kid Icarus in particular, I think they could've shared the wealth a bit more among other series there but I suppose not every game has that many logical item choices that'd fit in.
People complaining about Smash having too many Pokemon make me laugh. Pokemon is kinda sorta (just a little) important to Nintendo's history, so it having seven reps would be totally justifiable, especially in a roster that will likely be somewhere around 50 characters.
Heck, assuming that the final roster is 48 characters, 7 Pokemon would be the smallest ratio of Pokemon-to-characters that any Smash Bros. game has ever had: 64 had 2/12 (16.7%), Melee had 4/26 (15.4%), Brawl had 6/39 (15.4%) and a hypothetical 7/48 would be 14.6%.
Man, I really hope we have some DK items beyond the hammer this time. The barrel cannon in Melee was a ton of fun and I'm sure some of the items Cranky/Funky sell you in Retro's games could be put to use in Smash. So I made a chart for items in alphabetical order with the red marker indicating whether an item is new or not. May have made some mistakes. If I did, please point them out.

The day LJN revives and becomes the sole developer of Smash Bros. is the day you regret this statement.
Loving the diversity.
