Nintendo Fiscal Meeting - Over

Iwata- not hopeless or at a loss in coming up with something new but unless existing users satisfied we cannot release next hardware

"We will not move on until you like the Wii U. Say you like it." *crosses arms*

I know that's not what he means, still fun to imagine it that way.

Interesting that they are still touting WD

At this point, they probably paid Ubi for them to continue developing a WiiU version

I get excited just by Iwata confirming that they're working on new hardware. And really like that they're not willing to kill the Wii U and jump to a new platform.

Here's something to get you even more excited, MS and Sony are already working on next gen systems.

Should be sticky on top of every doom thread.

(Gibbo sure adds some strange language to his tweets.)

It's kind of a non-answer, isn't it? It's basically dodging the question of "hey when are you going to release that thing that you are obviously not going to announce tonight?"

C'mon Iwata, it's not like there's a lot of them.

I think there is a string argument to make that they should worry more about the huge audience they lost than the tiny audience they retained. Otoh, Nintendo die hard fans have sustained them through dark days in the past. Losing them to chase bigger game could be the end of the company.

Well at least they're not completely stupid. I'll never go near another Nintendo product again if they drop the Wii U anytime soon.

Good move on not releasing new hardware anytime soon. Bring out the full potential of the Wii U before doing so.

I would kill for Kid Icarus: Uprising HD if it were possible...

As a life long Nintendo fan I'm sad about the current state of affairs. Wii U bombing, almost no games on the horizon aside from the handful I'm already hyped about, company losing money and having no idea wtf is going on, etc, etc...

BUT....

I'm buying ALL those fucking figurines. All of them. Maybe even some duplicates. And I'm 32 years old. I give no fucks.

Why would it?

Their market is still shrinking on both fronts.

You think that they don't have expenses elsewhere (R&D, salaries, acquisitions)?

Of course they do, and that's what their bankroll is for. Right now there is a thread about a blog on Time, about them not being able to 'save' the Wii U, and thus they maybe need to move on to the next system. This says it no longer needs to be saved, that they can continue to put games on it, and Iwata is even going even further by saying they aren't just going to dump the Wii U.

This is why many people have been on the fence about getting the system. Now that Nintendo is saying they have confidence in the system, and they aren't going to dump it like the Virtual Boy, shouldn't we talk about that?

So it is a memory card.
Not necessarily. It could be exactly how Disney Infinity works, in that the figurines are associated with many games. Or it could be like Skylanders, in that all the figurines can be played in the expansions.

Or, it could just be that the figurines have multiple games to play.
