Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

I wonder if it automatically launches you toward another player, or if you get to manually control (or at least aim) yourself as a Bullet Bill.

Huh... I just noticed that the Polar Bear image doesn't have a 3DS watermark in the corner. The only possible conclusion is that it's not actually tomorrow's update!

It is time for another bet. For tomorrow are you #TeamPolarBeat or #TeamSomethingElse?

I just imagined the Elite Beat Agents choreographing a song wearing parkas...

I'd like to think Sakurai's audience-savvy enough to put SomethingElse for tomorrow's picture. Even then I think he'll reuse it down the line.

Ice Climbers are rad and all, but I hope their stage this time around is more mish-mash of a ton of different NES one-offs done in a really pretty HD style. They've already sort of exhausted the icicle mountain theme IMO.

Also hope like the polar bear Samurai Goroh, Ashley and the Franklin Badge were hints we'll see Falcon, Wario and Ness and/or Lucas in time for the SSB4 tourney.

They could just have a simple stage based on the summit.

What with having to design and implement them across two games, I'm starting to think that the stage count in each might be significantly less than what we're accustomed to... and that the "lesser" franchises like Ice Climbers might end up without a stage as a result. I sincerely hope that I'm wrong, and that there's some amazing original Kirby and Donkey Kong stages waiting in the wings, but who knows.

Brawl's IC stages was supposed to the the summit, but it has no layout similarities to the NES summit.
It's also a right pain in the arse, I was pretty excited to play the stage seeing it on the dojo only for it to be pretty awful to deal with.

Isn't that basically what Brawl's IC stage starts off as before they start working in stuff unrelated to the original game?

I suppose that too is a summit, but I was thinking making it truer to the game and having those two walls to the side. So basically we finally got to the top of Melee's stage.

Yeah, I like the concept and loop is one of the better ones (better than FE's invisible floor fade dimension), but the platform layout is weird.

Not sure why, but something tells me (gut feeling) that the last WTF unlockable character for smash that Sakurai could surprise us with wouldn't be Pac-man but...

Considering he would be someone no one would've thought of. Plus he's been a trophy in a smash game before and the last character we got was ROB for Brawl. He's also part of Nintendo's history.

I just read the new German GamePro where we got the early Mario Kart 8 review. And guess what? On the last page they announced a Super Smash Bros. 4 preview for next month. Just before E3.

I wonder if any substantial new info will be in there or if it'll just be "news" from the SSB Direct....

At best they'll get new screenshots of old content

Considering the Direct was also viewable in multiple places as well and most would likely only watch it once that should also be taken into account.

Bullet Bill looks fun. Wondering if it's manually controlled or not, it'd be fun chasing people round with it like a mini Final Smash or something. If we do get Ice Climbers tomorrow that'd be awesome.

Yo

This NFC nintendo thread reminded me of something

You remember how skylanders was supposed to be a nintendo franchise or something like that?

Yo, spyro could have been in smash bros.

I thought they pitched the general gameplay idea to Nintendo, yet to be attached to the Spyro brand. IIRC, they thought it was well suited to Nintendo because of their "broad range of characters."

Damn I wonder how many items are going to be in this game. Playing with items might just become the new not playing with items.

I always use items, regardless.

They make the game way more fun and much less predictable. I mean, imo, items are an integral part of the Smash formula.

That's pretty cool. Didn't expect the character to transform into a bullet bill. The red arrow seems to indicate you choose the direction at launch and can't control it afterwards.

it would be interesting if they managed to reach to 100 items, however I'm concerned about balance of items during battles. Would specific items become frequently to appear during battles, awhile our favorite items would rarely appeared. I hope that every items would have equally percent to appear in battles.
