Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Remakes Announced for 3DS

I feel like they're much more likely to add mega metagross or mega milotic than give wallace and steven mega gyarados or mega aggron. Metagross has always been Steven's signature pokemon and it'd be weird to give his mega evo to anything else. Similar case for Wallace and Milotic

Oh I agree, I was just assuming that they wouldn't. It would make far more sense as per their signature pokes.

I would literally be a sad panda if they didn't put in Mega Metagross and Mega Milotic. Especially the Milotic since it's one of my favorites.

I dunno, though, I kind of feel it'd be shitty to lock of Megas to the new games, though. They've never introduced exclusive forms in remakes before. Who knows what they'll do?
New forms did get introduced in remakes one time.

That's true. We'll have to wait and see.
Groudon and Kyogre on the cover were called brand new pokemon (similar to Kyurem forms and Mega Mewtwo Y) so it's pretty clear they're adding some this time. And I'd be surprised if they didn't add megas for the other starters since Blaziken has one. After that I think Mega Metagross for Steven is pretty likely and maybe mega milotic for wallace if he's champion again. Beyond those I doubt we'll get anything else though

Both are awesome designs. Metagross is amazing and his shiny is easily my favorite shiny color scheme out of all the pokemon in the game. Although most shinies suck ass so it isn't saying as much as you'd think

mega masquerain better a thing with proper typing
I want a Masquerain evolution/mega evolution based on a giant water bug.

giantwaterbug_on-hand.jpg

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if which champion was based on the version.
That actually makes a lot of sense. Steven isn't a Ground type specialist, but he is associated with rocks and all his Pokemon are Rock, Steel, or Ground type, aka things you dig up from the ground.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if which champion was based on the version.
I would. Steven was an optional superboss when he wasn't champion, but Wallace was just a gym leader when Steven was. Unless they made superboss wallace for the version that didn't have him as champion one version would get ripped off. And I don't like the idea of a Wallace who is stronger than Steven

B2W2's biggest problem is you never feel like you accomplish anything, You're just living in the protagonist of BW's shadow the whole time. GSC didn't have this problem because at the end you fight Red and finally get out of his shadow, but in B2W2 you never fight Hilda/Hilbert. Hell, even taking down Ghetsis is more N's doing than yours. It's really weird too, because it feels less like you're helping stop Ghetsis from taking over the world at the end, and more like you stumbled upon an awkward father-son argument that you're just waiting to squirm your way out of.
B2W2's biggest problem is that hard mode is exclusive to one game and is only unlockable after the Pokemon League. What kind of dumbass company makes difficulty settings version exclusive and makes it so taking advantage of it the one version that has it is pointless at the point you can finally use it.

Oh yeah, I remember bwing so annoyed by this. Only Game Freak, I guess.

Gamefreak's always focused its model on Japanese audiences who often have other people to play with in person, and it's not always been so great for international audiences. Trade evolutions, store events, and weird ass features like difficulty settings being locked behind finding someone else to connect their game with yours.

At least online trading's solved the first two problems.

5th gen easily has the best soundtrack. Too many great pieces.
Has best route theme ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=465uaHc-r6A
and best evil team theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LB87TndHlFg

3rd gen comes close.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzsfUdZEi2c -Magma/Aqua
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyPemvn0zZ4 Deoxys theme (which like no one heard)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7SrUYEKMOg Regi theme

...very close. But i can't wait to hear updated versions of these songs.

Holy crap. That Deoxys theme is epic, never heard it before.

Ugggggggh my hype for these remakes is through the roof. Hoenn is going to look so beautiful in 3D. Just imagine Foretree City in 3D. Emerald is one of my favorite games ever, not even just in the Pokemon series and these will obviously include the good elements from Emerald like HG/SS did with Crystal so Im excited.

I cant wait for the first screens and footage of the game.

Personally I think 5th Gen is easily the worst IMO of course and RSE is so much better even with the trumpets. I honestly theorize that those trumps are there because they work well with the GBA's sound system and the soundtrack was designed with that in mind. FR/LG sounds so much worse because of those limitations. Heck all the flourishing Gen 5 does kills it for the same reason as it all just comes out of the DS speakers as a random mess
FR/LG's lower-tier as far as Pokémon soundtracks go, but it's still full of cool new arrangements that writhe with activity. The redone Trainer Battle theme's a favorite of mine, as is S.S. Anne. People are quick to hate on it so much even though it's equally as interesting as the original soundtrack.

I don't remember playing Ruby all that much since I got it around release (when I was 8?). What's all this trumpet talk, were they really that prevalent? I just remember finding the soundtrack inferior to Crystal's.
Trumpets are the most distinguishable brass samples used throughout, but French horns are also common, as are some trombones.

Has anybody posted Petalburg City music yet? Because that's one of the catchiest songs in the series.
One of the most disappointing, I think, because it's so catchy yet so underdeveloped. Morizaku Aoki was a solid musician who did the amazing Surf theme for the same game, but he put out the occasional bummer like this.

They wont abandon the brass, they'll harness this newfangled technology to give us the quality brass we truly deserve, my route 110 horn hype is so ready.
The current brass samples still sound muffled, as in they don't pierce through the speakers enough. Game Freak has to make this happen without having the trumpets take over the soundtrack, which they don't even in the original.

Was anyone else kind of let down by XY's soundtrack? I feel like the gym leader and elite four music was a step down from Gen 5, as was most of the soundtrack.

It did have some good hits though: Geosenge Town, Anistar City, Power Plant, Boutique, the Tower of Mastery, and Route 15 to name a few.

Gō Ichinose wasn't present on XY's OST, so I hope he has some part in ORAS'. I liked RSE's music a lot.
The sound team leader on X/Y, Shota Kageyama, has left Game Freak to work freelance. And now that Soriti Horse is finished, it's very likely that Ichinose's leading this effort.

X/Y's a very solid soundtrack, albeit not one with as many standouts as I'd like. Kalos Power Plant doesn't sound much like Kageyama, which is refreshing, and returning to the original techno concept for battle themes could have worked, but there's not enough of those delicious Minako Adachi tunes!

Really looking forward to how these updates handle Gen 3's music assuming they don't screw it up, removing the GBA sound quality roadblock could mean some damn good stuff, especially for the battle themes that were pretty explosive and energetic.
I say it's all about the timpani beat in the background, an instrument proven to make any battle theme exciting (read: Ghetsis). But there's just so many great melodies and turns of the chord in these tracks, too.

No rse ending theme guys? It is the best ending theme in the series.
Yes it is. The post-credits piano piece is also incredibly charming, a fitting continuation of the same "The End" trend started in GSC and revived in X/Y.

To me, Gen III and Gen IV are top-tier when it comes to music. They felt extremely cohesive. Gen V was brought down by how all over the place the OST was and it having the most boring region, so it felt more like a collection of songs than an album.
I maintain that, even if Gen V easily has the most standout tracks so far, RSE's got the best balance of cohesiveness and personal style in a Pokémon score yet. Part of this comes from Aoki's confidence in evoking both Ichinose and Masuda, as well as knowing what makes a great dungeon theme. Then there's Ichinose himself, who practically lords over the soundscape with conviction. DPPt's got nothing on this level, as great as its soundtrack is.

Goddamn it, why does the music part of the cycle always happen without me?!

Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire with the game engine of Pokemon X/Y?

HOLY MOLY, DAY FREAKING ONE.

May in 3D along with the awesome Gym Leaders will make it so worth a second run through.

What doesnt get enough love is the paino piece that plays right before you fight cynthia. God lord is it awesome. Should have been the actually fight music. I dont know how some of you can stomach that techno garbage. Sounds like a chimpanzee having a seizure over a snare drum.

Okay guys, so since I was bored (and because I have way too much time on my hands) I kind of came up with a nomenclature for the Pokemon series in the vein of other similar Japanese series, tell me what you think:

Pokemon Red/Blue: Pokemon
Pokemon Yellow: Pokemon G*
----------------------------------------
Pokemon Gold/Silver: Pokemon 2
Pokemon Crystal: Pokemon 2G
----------------------------------------
Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire: Pokemon 3
Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen: Pokemon R
Pokemon Emerald: Pokemon 3G
----------------------------------------
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl: Pokemon 4
Pokemon Platinum: Pokemon 4G
Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver: Pokemon 2R
----------------------------------------
Pokemon Black/White: Pokemon 5
Pokemon Black 2/White 2: Pokemon 5-2
----------------------------------------
Pokemon X/Y: Pokemon 6
Pokemon OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire: Pokemon 3R

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* For Generation 1 Nomenclature in Japan:
Pokemon Red/Green: Pokemon
Pokemon Blue: Pokemon G
Pokemon Yellow: Pokemon GG

So I'm not the only one that imagines Piano Before Cynthia being reworked into a battle theme.

Yep. The mods will (thankfully) be shutting this thread down shortly. We're heading toward full retawd.

Thinking I may skip XY now. I've been wanting to get it to play with friends but at the same time I've heard a lot of bad stuff about it (too easy, has a short and mediocre [by pokemon standards] story, virtually no solo endgame). I wanted to go back and play the black and white series first anyways since I missed those and just recently got back into Pokemon thanks to Twitch. So now I feel like just waiting to go Gen6 until Alpha Omega, and then go back and play the XY series only once the inevitable Z edition comes out. Yes, this sounds like a good plan.

I wonder if they'll age the main characters to fit in line with the X/Y characters age? Would be funny if they brought an older May back in the anime to travel with the forever 10 year old Ash, lol.

And I hope to god they make another long circular area to ride around in and hatch eggs like the area in Lumiose City.

Yeah black/.white had a pretty fun single player story. Waiting to see if a z version happens wouldn't be so bad for you, in my opinion.

XY is still worth playing if no Z happens though.

But their reasoning is awful. Dereck thinks the patterns just changed colors but they are major changes.

Think about HG/SS. The main game was virtually untouched. Mega stones are a kaloes thing. I like the idea of them just being powered up versions of the pokemon when the are exposed to their red and blue orbs. As i typed this i can see the retconn.

Dammnit. I really dont like megas but if it makes people happy then whatever. I dont have to use em.
