Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Remakes Announced for 3DS

You are more free to use different Pokemon and strategies compared to the typical sweeper strategy in Singles.
Can you show me a stall team in doubles?

There are a diversity of strategies in both formats. That's why people continue to play them.
I never stated Doubles is perfect, but it definitely is more balanced than Singles.
I don't disagree. I just feel it's pointless to rail about balance when neither is particularly balanced in the first place.
Well, VGC is currently in a format where they aren't allowed to use anything that isn't in the Kalos Dex. It's going to be limited to what works with little checks. It is very possible it could balance itself out when most Pokemon in the National Pokedex are allowed to be used.
You mean when the genies and Cresselia arrive?

I just want new Poké Balls already! Gen V introduced one. Gen VI introduced NONE!

Game Freak, publicly apologize and make new Poké Balls or you can kiss your business goodbye.

I had an idea for a Ball type where your game competion percentage equated to Critical Capture rates. So basically, once you completed the game and wanted to get duplicates, you had a near-guaranteed capture rate.

I can see that working more for a super pokedex type ball. where the more pokemon a person has seen. This includes forms, different language versions, shinies, etcs. A Collector Ball =D.

So basically...

718 pokemon + 718 pokemon shinies + pokemon forms (vivillons, rotoms, unowns) + shiny forms x 7 languages. (ENG, JPN, GER, FRE, SPA, KOR, ITA)

You're looking at an actual, over 10k individual different pokemon seen.

That needs more than just a special ball, that should be like super shiny charm, super breeder, and whatever bonuses lol.

Doubles is just as bad as singles if not worse right now imo.

Any community that has a seemingly huge ego is unbearable, smogon isn't an exception in the pond that is Pokemon. I'll say it depends if you identity with them or see yourself as mere passerby.

My issue with what Smogon does is that while it's accepted there's always a level of luck involved in Pokemon battles, what is an "acceptable" level is often completely arbitrary. That and some people using them as an authoritative source, but that's not really their fault.

On the other hand there are clearly overpowered strategies not reliant on luck that a good chunk of people in the competitive battle scene feel they can live without and if they choose to execute the option to do so then what's the problem?

Spinda means billions of different forms lol. Though I'm guessing if such a ball ever existed, they'd ignore Spinda.

I know it will be slim, but I hope there will be a collectors edition for this.

Or at least an included mudkip thing like what they did with HGSS with Lugia and Ho Oh

Id like to see the return of apricots and expand it so that harvesting different varieties of apricots can get you more unique pokeballs. Also the return of Pokeball seals. I also wish they would return contests back to its RSE format or expand on that one, including the Beauty, Cool, Tough, Cute, etc. Stats that the berries could be used to enhance those stats. They could tie all the different pokeball customization to Pokemon Contests and Pokemon Amie.

I think the sad part about Gen VI (X&Y) not introducing a new Pokeball is that you visit a place that makes them...

The #1 reason why I played VGC instead of Smogon when I was into the game was because there was no constant bullshit meta-meta-game of what "should" and "shouldn't" be banned. We just played the damn game, then rolled with the new rules for the following year and did it again.

It was also pretty clear that 4th gen was balanced considerably more around doubles than singles. Lots of the "problematic" dragons that Smogon were so eager to ban weren't nearly as obnoxious in doubles. I have no idea how 6th gen turned out.

The exciting thing is that it is now possible for them to add new Pokémon (forms/evolutions) in the middle of the generation and maintain 100% compatibility since they can easily update the older games. I'd expect to see Mega Sceptile and Mega Swampert if they don't want to make one starter seem superior to the others.

The Dragon's were cheap in doubles too and that's the main reason why Game Freak decided to create Fairy types. My biggest problem with Smogon's 4th gen metagame is that they took too long to ban Salamence because it was basically murdering every thing else in the metagame with different sets and required different pokemon to attempt to stop each one.

Outrage was much riskier in doubles because it picked a random target, and self-imposed confusion is more costly in a format where switching is more discouraged. That cut down the reliable power output significantly.
Blizzard was also somewhat more viable.

It's funny that you even bring up Salamence at all, because his ban is one specific thing I was thinking of that just made me roll my eyes and further ignore Smogon's metagame when I read about it. I just can't respect a fanbase insistent on morphing a game into something that they want it to be instead of accepting it for what it is (or just finding something outright better to play if that's impossible), because the former just leads to way too many annoyances once there's too many cooks in the kitchen.

That never really stopped them from dominating even now. Most people either use Dragon Claw or Draco Meteor and get their kills either way.

So how about those remakes?

If we get another round of megas, it could be pretty nuts. Last time, we got megas like Kangaskhan alongside megas like Banette. Since everyone's speculating on Sceptile and Swampert, I'm guessing Sceptile can't be too stupid with its typing.

Or it can lead to a fantastic and well-made fanmod that helps support the tournament scene for the official games.

But that's Smash Bros, and this is Pokemon.

Sceptile has an amazing physical pool...and a much higher special attack. A Mega Sceptile with an outrageous attack stat could be really special.

Hopefully Mega Swampert will somehow have even worse stats and replace Damp with Truant.

This is basically what everyone wants Mega Sceptile to be: Tone down Special Attack and crank up dat Attack.

Swampert should go the tank route for contrast. Not sure which ability would get it there without recovery moves; Regenerator is an obvious suggestion, but I'm not sure that would be enough.

It's all rng though, because it relies heavily on confusion.

Unless theres a different term for it.

Oh you're talking about confusion. Their reasoning is flimsy beyond belief and makes me think they only mention it because their favorite style (hyper offense) couldn't easily go through with it.

Seriously but I wouldn't mind giving Mega Sceptile huge power just so it can remain mixed sweeper with options. Regardless we already have two mega evolutions with that ability so I guess it's best to just raise attack and give a useful ability like Moxie. Holy shit imagine a Grass/Dragon Physical Moxie Mega Sceptile.

I just really hope that's the case since I had to raise a physical Sceptile for my MonoGrass teams.

I really think Swampert could use an ability like Drizzle, but I guess Filter would work. If love regenerator but like you said it has no means of recovering and it'd be a waste. Maybe Sheer Force, Gooey, make it a super Gastrodon with Storm Drain? I can't think of anything other than maybe a new unique ability.

I'm thinking Infiltrator or Magic Bounce could be useful on Swampert. I like Gooey as well

I'm behind on a lot of stuff with this gen, but is it feasible for there to be new Mega forms? How would they interact with XY? I thought the director said they wouldn't be patching the games with extra content.

They could just prevent the stones from being transferred if they really wanted. That way they would always be in their normal forms when traded to XY.

It's not exactly extra content though. The patch could be about them being viewable on XY but not tradeable or something like that. The Groundon and the Kyogre of the covers look a lot like Megas but it's still possible they are something else like forms or something. I guess we'll find out soon.
