Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

Still waiting on Anthony Higgs / Noxus / Rundas. If Higgs makes it in he strikes me as the type to be an endgame unlockable along the likes of Mewtwo and Ridley.

You could probably make an argument that one of the two Federation Troopers tailing Samus in the beginning of Fusion was Higgs.

Since I'm obviously reading just this part of it, (and I'm too lazy to read previous posts) are you serious about this? And if you are, please tell me you're aware they give you crazy customization with controls?

I dunno, I use X to jump too on the GC Controller, but I've been using the CCP for Project:M and it's been perfectly swell. I mean, I get to each his own, but I dunno. I think there's more too it than "it will never be as competitive because the control layout is different".

Not trying to be rude either, I'm just laying in my two bits.

I've become accustomed to the diamond layout using the 360 controller and even have Y (referring to Nintendo's diamond layout, on the 360 controller X=Y) as the grab button. It is really interesting when it is there. I'm not sure if I completely prefer it.

The most important thing to note for the Wii U version's controls is that on the Wii U Pro Controller, the button your hand naturally rests on is the A button. I feel that the typical button layout is easier on that other than the fact that the jump button is not right next to the A button.

For the 3DS controller, if you're not comfortable using the A button as the main button, you can use B as the main button and change the special move as Y or A (the latter would require you to change your muscle memory to move right instead of left).

As for the CCP, I think it is hot garbage lol.

Do anyone want NeoRice's Dillion avatar? I have a hard time to decide which one to pick. SimCity's Dr. Wright is always special to me because I played the shit out of SimCity SNES for pretty long time but at same time, Dillion look so badass.

I'm curious....why do you think the CCP is bad? I just noticed the distance between the ABXY is bigger in the CCP, in comparison with the Pro Controller. For me, this difference alone makes the CCP pretty damn bad to play Smash. Is it too because of that you don't like it?

Haha, no, I know better than that from back with Street Fighter 2 . Keyboard is not meant for fighting games.


I actually preferred the classic controller over the gcn controller for Brawl, so I'm not expecting any problems.

I knew a guy that played SSFIV with a keyboard. He did pretty well because there was never an execution error. Granted, he mostly played shotos, but when he wanted an Ultra, it came out immediately.

That is a part of the reason. The others being it doesn't have much weight to it so it doesn't feel good to grip it. The bumpers/triggers are really small as well.

While this reason is due to personal preference, I prefer the left stick to be at the top-left. Though when I use both sticks on the CCP at the same time, my thumbs may touch each other at times.

If it works like Brawl, which it probably will, you only have to change the controls once. Then you just have to remember to select your profile. Takes like two seconds. It's really not a big deal.

Hmm, I thought the reason was only related to the ABXY position, but now that you said it, the other reasons are also valid. I didn't think it was going to end up being that bad lol. I'm yet to try the Pro Controller though. I'm thinking of trying it with dolphin later.

1. It's stronger than regular hammer
2. Swung faster than regular hammer
3. It helped you to stay floated in the air
4. it was given with more Horizontal knock back
5. At small ratio, it would backfired since it could become squeaky golden hammer which would do nothing.
 
For clarity, anyone can use any avatar that's no longer in use.
I haven't paid super much attention but I feel like half the playable
cast is no longer in use by people atm. Once someone gives up their
avatar they're free to take by anyone.

Does anyone know if Stafy is in use? (and could link to me a avatar version of it?) Stafy is one of my favorite Nintendo characters and I wish the series didn't die after the international debut. :(

So, what are the odds NeoGAF will be up during E3? Should I be expecting the site to crash during Nintendo's stream?

B for Normals and Y for Specials is the one that closest resembles the original N64 layout. They should go with that.

Yes. And if by some miracle the site will stay up during Nintendo's E3 stream it will be down immediately after the stream for sure.

Don't expect GAF to be up for long during a press conference. If there are megaton announcements during Nintendo's stream, GAF is definately taking a dive.
