Sometimes, I swear developers just mine the inside of my brain for ideas. It's like the folks at Insomniac are all "hey, I can't sleep, I wonder what Doc is dreaming about tonight," pull out their big dreamstealer gun (surely they have one of these), and proceed to take what's in my head and turn it into something way better.

I always have reservations when the first word used to describe a game is "mature."

EDIT: I should say that it does look pretty fun, though. I like the focus on velocity.

Every new bit of info that comes out about this game makes me more excited. I'm loving the art style and parkour elements. Can't wait to see some of the crazy ass weapons that they have. Really liking this comment:"It's a game that revels in being a game." He says. "One of our mottos was 'fun trumps realism'. We don't need an explanation, if it's fun; that's good enough." It's looking like this is gonna stand out from other games. Day One!

Last gen GTA's vs Saints Rows were like a case study on this. GTA4's bored me to tears, while I had a blast with the nonsense of SR's. GTA5 was better than GTA4 but their online was ruined due to game design based on grinding to encourage buying credits. Still don't have Heists in MP. $$$ over fun = GTAO.

I will say that I had a quite a bit of fun with GTA V, couldn't bring myself to finish GTA IV though. At the same time though I see your point. Saint's Row games are just mindless fun that more or less says to hell with the rules. Sunset Overdrive is looking to be something along those lines and I'm pumped.

Highly doubtful, MS let them keep the SO IP, but with MS publishing the game I don't see it going to any other platform.

Apparently the HUD they had was so awful that MS gave them an award for "worst HUD ever" and they are working on a new one.

Sunset Overdrive is as far away as you can get from inFAMOUS: Second Son. Literally the only thing in common is the fact it's open world. It's a really dumb comparison. If anything, its most symbiotic partner would be Crackdown 2, due to the mutants in the game world.

Anyway, apart from both being open world, third-person shooters with enemies and traversal mechanics and lots of colour with zappy sounds and music and they both come on a disc or a digital download and are controlled with triggers and buttons and sticks and are videogames in the same genre and big tentpole releases at the beginning of a new generation by teams that have been considered middle-of-the-road on forums across the world for the last six years, just what have Infamous SS and Sunset Overdrive got in common?
