Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Remakes Announced for 3DS

I'm doubtful that there will be ANY new megas. Groudon/Kyogre are probably just form changes. The only "new" megas we're getting were already datamined in X/Y (Mega
Lati@s
)

If they're new formes, it wouldn't be a stretch to think that they might put in new Megas.

Character customization with ugly outfits and an ugly trainer design (especially with the male protagonist)....No thanks.

Neat.

Its gonna get better over time, and i'll be able to be black dude in pokemon with more customization options as gens go by.

Most important update , the beginning of inclusiveness.

XY is patchable. They could patch this stuff in easily.

This is where relying on data mining to tell the full story isn't wise.

I think GF will be doing a lot of patches from now on especially after the data mining fiasco.

I am sure if they watched to, they could add new Megas, items, moves, abilities, and Pokemon into ORAS and just patch XY. The question is whether they will, and I think that they might do it for Megas at least, but with GF you can never be 100% sure.

As for customization, I have a feeling that if we are getting Brandon & May, or versions of, that customization might be either gone or limited. Honestly, 'm expecting it to be clothes only, if it appears. No face selections.

There's no way in hell they're leaving the Hoenn starters unequally represented in terms of Megas. There's no reason not to go for Blaziken if there aren't Megas for Swampert and Sceptile as well.

Besides, they always add new forms or designs to games like this. Even HGSS had Pikachu-Coloured Pichu and Notch-Eared Pichu.

There's also the fact that Blazikenite (?) isn't found in XY, except through event.

Pikachu-Colored Pichu's kinda cheating since it was just a standard shiny Pichu with an event flag, but yeah.

I'm thinking that these remakes had been planned for awhile to come out after X/Y so Team 2 was developing ORAS concurrently. M-Blaziken was probably already finished so they packed him into X/Y as potential cross-promotion.

They gave Charizard two mega evolution whereas the other Kanto starters only got one. They also stated that Mega evolution is a popularity contest and are given to Pokémon that are popular regardless if they need one or not, like Garchomp.

Which is one of the reasons why I dislike Mega evolution.

Have faith! Rather than hatless options! Gf will stay true to gen 3 and give us hats that look exactly like hair!

Just as long it looks good.

They really said that? Shit.

I could great a cool feature. Not a significant one, but with HD and full characters (not dwarfs) and tasteful outfits options, I would be happy to change how my trainer look, like it is possible in open-world games (e.g. GTA V)

Also for the remakes I like the idea of a non-customizable character, or a least less options of customizations (a few colors for the clothes/hair/skin, a few different clothes with the same Hoenn vibe (like the differences between Sapphire-Ruby & Emerald)). It needs to make sense, like the different cities and roads make sense in each region. It was lost in X/Y with Kalos and the trainers imho. Though I really enjoyed the game, I don't want its flaws to be repeated in the following games.

That doesn't make the other two inferior, though. Without Megas, Sceptile and Swampert are unambiguously inferior to Blaziken in a way that starters normally aren't.

Uh huh. This is why spectacular fan favourites like Manetric, Medicham or Banette got Megas.

I don't doubt that popularity's a factor for some Megas, but I'm going to need a citation on it being a popularity contest.

Gen 3 remakes being in the pipeline actually goes a long way to explaining why a lot of not-so-popular Pokemon got Megas in X/Y.

Yeah, Abomasnow, Pinsir and Ampharos must have been at the height of popularity.

Mega Evolutions were not just a popularity contest, it was also Pokemon who needed more power.

When youre gonna disagree with an answer straight from the horses mouth i dont know what to tell you. Just because you dont think a certain pokemon may be popular doesnt mean that it isnt elsewhere to others.

While I will be one of the first people to call bullshit on Charizard getting 2 megas vs Blastoise and Venasaur getting one, in the end you only got one mega Charizard anyways. You couldn't get the other mega stone unless someone with the other version was generous enough to give you their stone, or unless you got it in an event (which I think happened, or will be happening, in Japan). There is no way to get two mega Charizards (or Mewtwos) in one game through normal means.

Meanwhile, as it stands right now, only one of the three Hoenn starters you can choose has a mega evolution. I mean, unless there is no way to get Blazikenite in the remakes (something I strongly doubt will happen), you would be tilting the scales for picking Torchic extremely heavily. You can't give only one starter the option to go mega and tell anyone who picked a different Pokemon to go scratch. It would be total bullshit if there aren't mega forms for Sceptile and Swampert, it's way more unfair if they don't get anything than giving Charizard two megas.

Then how come Pikachu hasn't gotten one yet?

I haven't had the answer straight from the horse's mouth. I've had an answer from someone who dislikes Megas to start with.

I can assure you that there's nowhere on Earth where Banette is more popular than, say, Pikachu.

Pretty sure gamefreak went on record about this.

Me disliking megas is completely irrelevant to the question.

On the third point i wonder how important balance is to gamefreak. I mean has mega ampharos really served to balance the game in any way. Or how about mega banette?

Edit: i dont play competitively so someone inform me? Has the introduction of megas balanced the metagame in anyway? Look at things like mega gengar and mega kenga. Balance must be a distanct third.

I can't believe anyone listens to Dragonknigjt when he talks about Megas anymore. It's really not worth the energy to argue with him.

Dude, relax. A poster asked about megas and i told him what i know i read. Popularity was a huge reason behind the decision to give pokes megas.

I left the mega thing behind yesterday. Welcome to today.

How about you throw me on your ignore list?

I think the idea of requiring a patch would alienate a lot of children who don't know what they're doing
How? They have patched the game TWICE already.

Want to use the GTS? An update is required. It's literally that simple. Remember the Lumiose City bug? That was fixed in a patch. New Mega's can be added in the same way.

There is no way Sceptile and Swampert aren't getting Mega Evolutions.

I don't see GameFreak ever doing that. GameFreak prefers to have everything in the game day one, which is why every promo Pokemon and the two mega pokemon that I'm expecting to be in ORAS have already been discovered.

I also can't see them adding new Formes/Megas in ORAS and not patching them in on a console that is perfectly capable of doing so. XY already has a compulsory patch when you connec online; I imagine they could do the same for any new Megas/items/whatever, even if the items/Mega Stones are only found in ORAS.

People underestimate how tech savvy children are in today's world.

I wouldnt start spouting about who is getting what megas yet. Just dont make sense the way GF is handling it. So what? Are you gonna have to wait ten more years for megas of gen 2 starters? They should have been consistent across the board. The execution of who gets ad doesnt get a mega just feels very spotty and under cooked.

I feel like the main goal should have been to make every fully evolved poke viable first and foremost.
