hi5 though in my case we still had one in the household but it was my brother's...
...also not being able to transfer my Pokemon over (though definitely a good move as it helped them set up the rest of the franchise) killed my interest.

It's already leaked. There's nothing there; it's just the announcement. Next info will likely be at E3.

Adding in Crystal plot line into Heart Gold/Soul Silver didn't impact the story greatly because Crystal didn't change too much of the detail of the story, however Emerald completely changed the story and judging by the trailer and how Groudon and Kyogre footage looked pretty much the same but with slight differences.
I honestly don't think they can easily add Emerald plot in and keep the focus on Groudon and Kyogre like adding Crystal plot in Heart Gold/Soul Silver.
Why so Hoenn can endure the same problem that Jotho suffered as result of Kanto being shoehorned?
I haven't played any Pokemon games since Gen 3, so more than 10 years ago. So what is this fascination with trumpets?
I can't remember anything about trumpets in Ruby or Sapphire...
Listen to this and then apply the trumpet to all the game music.

Kanto was so awesome to go back to as a kid I guess you become jaded as you get older because having Johto to go back to even limited would be AWESOME.
It was awesome, but unfortunately introduced all sorts of problems. A lot of them I didn't notice at the time because I was 10, but notice very easily now. It's better focusing on filling out one region properly.
To be honest I still think Johto was alright, it's the awful pacing when you reach Kanto that is worse.
Anyway, this is never happening with these games.

I won't lie that revisiting Kanto wasn't awesome but it came at a terrible price and Game Freak have never went back to the two region format as it just doesn't work.
The point is moot as we aren't going to Johto.
Same here, I just hope we get an explanation to why the ship was Abandoned and what caused it.
Oh crap I just remember we're going to see the trick master in full glorious 3D. Hnnnnnng.

I saw that gif Kotaku posted earlier in the week, but has this been confirmed to be on the X/Y engine? I'm hoping that it isn't just the cut scenes.
Man I haven't played RSE in like 10 years. I'm having mini nostalgia bombs just looking at some screenshots and the music posted. Me and a bunch of my friends just played them over and over and over and over again.
In my probably 10+ full playthroughs, I might have picked Swampert and Sceptile once or so. It was Blaziken all the way. Sometimes I'd evolve Torchic in the first grass patch before continuing. I had a lot of time back then :lol

The Frontier brain music in Emerald was epic too.
The Emerald battle frontier just has to be in this game. It was the best Battle Frontier by far.
So hyped for these games. Hoenn is going to look amazing with the X/Y engine. Sucks that we'll probably have to wait until around E3 for gameplay footage but itll be worth it in the end. Im just glad these remakes are happening.

I'm confused. People in here are talking about revisiting places when potters are talking about how it will be a new place.
I'm hoping it's a new environment myself.
If I had to guess this game will be something similar to BW2, a basic straight forward classic storyline. No new pokemon outside of new Megas and maybe some event legendaries. A way tog et all the Gen 3 pokemon and starters available on the current games. So DS forward will have every pokemon.

It's a remake of Ruby and Sapphire, so it will take place in the sane region and have all the old locations. There may be new locations post game, but we don't know any of that yet. We only know that this is in the same vein as Heart Gold and Soul Silver as far as remakes go

IMO Ruby is better than the ones on 3DS, too much shit got added and muddled it. WIll likely trade in my pokemon 3ds for ruby 3ds.
