Nah, he's way better now rather than being a chump in the olde issues.

Would pay good money to see this play out on screen.

Damn.

What's your point? What difference does that make? That the Ultimate stuff happened sooner? Would you be happier if they went into Ulimate Peters parents origins in 2031 then?

They're both dumb ridiculous origins that make Peter look too special.

the difference is that you use the word ''destiny'', in Ultiamte the destiny was implanted from the get go.

As in original Amazing Spider-Man, that CIA Richard and Mary Parker storyline only came into 30 years after Spidey's creation

= you destiny argument falls in the water

No, my argument is fine. The back story was implanted a decade after 616 did it. Because 616 did it. They're both still dumb. Though personally Richard Parker a being a scientist seems more believable than him being a CIA agent fighting with super heroes and super villains.

What a weird argument to make. How does the timing of when their backstory was even made even matter? Ultimate is worse because they did it sooner than 616 and thats your argument? The fact is that it happened. Does Marvel still only follow the Lee and Ditko issues as Canon or something since your riding so hard on how the back story wasn't part of Spider-Man originally? Surprise, a lot stuff has happened since their run.

For all of the problems with OMD, killing the whole marriage, teacher, and MJ bullshit was probably the best thing to happen to Spider-Man in a long time.

Bullcrap all the story saga that took place after one more day still could have happened without have Peter and Mary-Jane getting divorced.

It was also annoying to see Aunt May regress backward as a character, she was much better when she knew that Peter was Spider-Man.

There was no need for One More day to happen period.

Spider-Man comics ever since the Clone Saga have been pretty much trash to me.

The Gathering of Five, The Final Chapter, Sins Past, Sins Remembered, The Hunger, Son of the Hunter, The Other, Death of the Chameleon, Cosmic Carnage, Skin Deep, New Ways to Die, Kraven's First Hunt, Return of Green Goblin, Return of Doctor Octopus, Changes, Chasing a Dark Shadow, OMD, Spider-Hunt, Identity Crisis, Mind on the Fire, Character Assassination, American Son, Red-Headed Stranger, Power of the People etc......years and years of straight up trash.

Plus every issue of Peter Parker: Spider-Man v2 is terrible.

The only stories I really enjoyed post-Clone Saga was the Civil War crossover and Back in Black.

I think I'm gonna go read the early Stan Lee ASM comics.

Ultimate Spiderman has been great since the getgo. I think it's by far the best Spidey book out there, and having only one author for its entire run has helped it maintain consistency. The only flubs, imo, are when Marvel forces some WORLD CHANGING ARC that Spidey is forced to be in which takes away from the overall narrative of the books.

Ultimate Spidey, for me, has been better than anything the 616 has done since JMS was writing Spidey (before the gwen stacey retcon).

Yeah, now we have riveting tales of everyone in New York getting spider powers and Doc Ock pretending to be Spider-Man for a year

Both Spider Island, and Superior Spider-man were clever and entertaining. Dan Slott doesn't get the credit he deserves. The man is a solid writer, and I've highly enjoyed his run thus far.

...

Did someone say SUPERIOR? Because that's pretty much the best Spide-Man comic ever right after Ultimate.

There was an Arc of Ultimate Spider-Man about the making of Spider-Man 2 while Spider-Man fought Doc Ock. That was a good arc, I think.

With Bendis pointing fun at the whole production and Ock looking like his film counterpart and so forth.

Lot of fun that story was.

Whoa, that sounds awesome and meta as hell. Sounds like Ultimate is the book to go with. Though I do want to check out the Ditko/Romita Sr. stuff that's been recommended.

Please do both! Early Ditko/Romita is definitive Spidey stuff.

And Ultimate is simply the best(ish if we're not counting SUPERIOR).
