Wotta just made me spit out my drink.

Penguins&PolarBears, post if you're okay.

The cboat parallels to the Jesus story are becoming tough to ignore.

Didn't CBOAT say something about how they'd work on or introduce a Kinect-less SKU if sales projections weren't up to snuff by March? Or something to that effect, anyway...? I don't remember how he phrased the "March" element, but good to hear MS is diversifying.

Can the voice commands still be done without the kinect or is that out the window if kinect is removed?

They *shouldn't* be ditched - there's very little preventing *that* part of it from being handled by a conventional headset mic. That doesn't necessarily mean they'll make the necessary changes to make that viable, though.

Why? I am a big fan of the kinect. I guess some buyers are not, but reading the forum makes it seem like kinect haters just didn't buy an xbox. Hopefully they continue to use the kinect though. I want to see some games use the controller passing feature.

are you seriously asking why? developers wont touch that shit now

Well it kinda guarantees the Kinect won't be used all that much in AAA games.

Why would a dev bother spending money and time on a feature which would only apply to a fraction of a fraction of their user base?
I think we have seen enough to safely conclude that even with a forced Kinect no developer nor customer gives a fuck about Kinect in games.

They clearly have no intention to support it going forward.

Haha...

On one hand its good as it should help to sell more consoles.

On the flip side it annoys me the Kinect is the reason the console specs are not at the PS4 level and its now its apparently not even that important?

Not that specs are everything but this is just amusing.

They do not kill off Kinect, it's just a SKU option.

Yes, they essentially will kill the Kinect.

Nobody is going to spend the extra $100 for the kinect, and devs will now really have absolutely no reason to develop for it at all since its going to split the user base.

If they do release a Kinect-less Xbone then consider the Kinect dead.

I think they fear having a WiiU-like situation and, unlike nintendo, are going to act as fast as they can to try and prevent that from happening. Kudos on them for making smart moves to try and push units, although you can argue that had they not made so many boneheaded mistakes with the Xbone that they wouldn't be making these major changes in the first place.

Still, the first current-gen machine that gets 3D blu ray support is clearly going to win it all so let's keep an open mind about these things.

Exactly. If it looks like things might go bad, you don't wait until they actually go bad to fix them, you try and change things while it still matters. MS is still in the race, but to remain there they need to get the price down and remove that stupid camera that most people genuinely hate.

This kind of proactive thinking is great, and I wish Nintendo had a bit of this kind of spirit, and ability to move and adjust this quickly.

Again, IF this is true.
