Phone's not showing any pictures, but how prevalent is the color purple? I bet there's a ton of purple.

Please for the love of god prove me wrong.
Alien's skin is purple, parts of the clothing are purple, other parts are violet blue, pretty much the entire logo of the movie is purple. But the most interesting part of the poster is that for some reason, the color orange is associated with all this purple. The letter O is colored orange like a basketball. If that's not a hint of racism I don't know what is.

Y'know I walked into this thread thinking "oh hey cool, some progress!"

Then I see poorly worded posts that really can be seen as not progressive. It's like I don't know what to expect anymore.

The thread is about the first black protagonist in a 3D animated film. Really the way I see that is this is the first 3D model where the textures are just a darker colour on the model. Nothing else.

Watch Da Birdie

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
It's already done with foreign movies (for example). I was just making the awful jump that these assholes that ruin movies could potential exploit the unique nature of 3D animated movies to specifically tailor movies for target audiences cheaply and easily.

But that is an awful idea, I find adjusting any movie from it's original form to be awful with next to always terrible results. Hence 'opening a can of worms'.

They just added in a Chinese actor though as a cameo.

What you're suggesting would be equivalent to taking Robert Downey Jr. and replacing him with a Chinese actor.

I like her hair. Confirms she's mixed, not black.

Nice pitchforks, guys.

To elaborate, it's from experience. I've only dated black girls and the only one that had hair like that was part Dominican.

I don't know where to start with these posts.

A) Your lack of knowledge on natural black hair
B) Your lack of knowledge on what can be achieved from a quick visit to a hair salon
C) Your statement insinuating that mixed and part dominican =/= black
D) Your Personal Experience > All
E) You liking her hair because she's mixed and not black which is either poorly worded or just messed up in general.
F) You coming to these conclusions based on a computer animated heavily stylized rendering.
G) All of the above.

levious

That throwing stick stunt of yours has boomeranged on us.
Surprisingly innocent yet NSFW? Still trying to wrap my head around that.

Judging by your stellar posts in this thread so far... that's an understatement.
Well if you insist I probably should explain myself.

CGI movie's have the inherent advantage that major assets could easily be changed, with little to no cost.

+

Movie producers love to specifically target certain audiences. Children, adults etc etc.

=

A 3D movie could be tailored to target specific markets and demographics quite easily. For example a main protagonist could be easily altered with little cost to appeal to the US, Asian, African or European market for example by simply altering a few properties of the main character.

Okay, thanks for clarifying. Your original post made it seem like you were suggesting that they change her race for other markets.

Can someone tell me what does the color purple have to do with black people?

Couldn't tell you.

At least I understand how yellow and blue happened (we have a good complexion for yellow and blue goes really well with it). I'd say the same applied to purple, but you see that without yellow a ton of the time.

probably has something to do with the common snap 'nigga you so black you look purple' that some youth of color have been known to use against the darkest of the dark of their peers. i could be wrong though...
