Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

Other than a full content blowout, what could they possibly show at E3 that warrants 90 minutes of smash bros?

What feature or set of features is worth talking about for 90 minutes?

I definitely think it will have some explaining, similar to the smash direct, but what the hell else do they do, other than reveal more newcomers?

Show off single player for wii u? show off online? show off... what!? I'm racking my brain here.

Yeah, same here. Look at the amount of stuff shown in the 40 minutes direct. What could they talk about for 90 minutes without spoiling the entire game?

If it's anything like mario kart 8, they're going to spoil the entire game :(

Oh well, at least it's sakurai spoiling it. Can't get mad at him! :)

Game modes, connectivity, interface. I imagine 30-45 minutes is dedicated just to Q&As. They had an hour long one for Pokemon XY last year. Look through that thread to get an idea of how long it will be I guess.

But IIRC Sakurai specifically said he didn't want things as spoiled as last time, didn't he?

I thought he didn't like the internet SPOILING IT FOR HIM. He's ok with putting out that info, as long as people get it from him, and not some random person on the internet who got the game early.

I had this same question in the other thread, I'd guess the 90 minutes is a placeholder and they won't use it all up for starters. I also wouldn't be surprised if there was a gameplay demo as well as some form of Q&A. Because unless they decide to literally show everything and announce a release date for a few weeks later, I can't see it all being explaining gameplay

That would make sense. Maybe they could grab some opportunity to disconfirm Snake there :(

Smash 3DS coming the day after E3, BELIEVE

Am I doing this right?

Thanks I just spat out my Cola. Perfect.

I'm hoping they just reveal everyone else (that was not unlockable) at E3, he has around 3 months to reveal them at this point. I know NoA wouldn't let Summer 2014 get pushed and then release it in September, they know the western world doesn't view that as summer traditionally.

They're not going to talk about Smash for 90 minutes. 60 minutes will probably be time for the press to play a demo or something.

I can see the questions now:

"What will the online mode be like?" "

"What about the single player mode?"

"How will the Wii U version and 3DS version interact?"

"I have another question that is not related to the actual multiplayer gameplay everyone will spend 99% of their time with the game on!"

24 days left and we have a smash presentation, I don't know how you guys survive Gaf before E3.

It's going to be 12 hours of sitting in front of my tv plugged in to my computer, with gamepad use for web browsing (gamepad is the only tablet i own :( ) so i don't miss a minute of content.

I feel like some of you don't know what a roundtable presentation is. Here is the Pokemon one from last year: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=585006

It was actually an 1 hour 30 min long. The first hour was their presentation while the last 30 min was the Q&A.

EDIT: Video summary of the presentation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDo5qFREiss

It won't spoil the game like some are thinking. If they were to do that, they wouldn't do it at a press-only event.

Pokémon had an hour long thing last year but a good 30 minutes of it was Q&A. I think the actual presentation was closer to 25 minutes? So temper your expectations!

EDIT: DaBoss corrected me above :P

pfft, check your locations, this is the crazy hype thread :P

Yeah, that's why I'm thinking it either has to have a spoiler warning, or it's just gonna be like fun facts or something. Even something like showing the moves of every veteran is revealing a lot! Maybe it'll have a lot of "History of Smash Bros" stuff?

This roundtable is definitely where we are getting in depth information about customization and connectivity, two things Sakurai said he's reveal "at a later date" during the Direct. And expect a Wii Fit Trainer style character reveal near the end.

Good call, that makes sense. Maybe some looks at Greninja, Zard, and any new characters from E3 too.

He was only talking about the videos from SSE, how can he not want something spoiled and then waste time making hype videos for each newcomer with the main purpose of them going viral?

Thanks, I actually forgot about this

True about SSE, though the newcomers videos aren't spoilers as long as they are part of the starting roster.

I hope it's livestreamed. I don't want text updates from the press :( :( :( :(
I also don't want a 5 minute video afterwards.

Well Sakurai didn't reveal any unlockable characters besides Sonic and Snake until after the game had launched in Japan, so the Dojo didn't spoil those.
He was mad that SSE cutscenes were posted on YouTube, not the Dojo.

He didn't like the Dojo because it revealed too much overall, not just spoilers.

Nah, he said that too, but the whole point of the PotD was to reveal less.

And yet, here we are, knowing about as much if not more than we did during the Brawl era. We got items, mechanics, online modes, alts. Sakurai doesn't know what the hell he does or doesn't want.

Yeah, that's true. I'm just pointing out that he didn't just say that about SSE, he said it about content overall.

We also have much less revealed than we did at this point with the Dojo. The dojo had much more newcomer reveals in comparison, and that's saying nothing of stuff like Music that the pics of the day can't possibly cover.

Smash direct had tons of music, even if it wasn't the focus. We can pretty much assume all music used in the direct will be featured in the game, like the electric guitar version of ballad of the goddess.

Sorry to burst your bubble but it's almost definitely not going to be livestreamed. Nintendo will definitely put up a shortened version of it on YouTube afterwards, plus any trailer they'll show off there.

Don't worry, we're gonna get a live stream of Smash footage at the Nintendo Digital Event and Smash 4 Invitational. :P
