Sony's E3 2014 - What are we all expecting?

No way Dogma can be exclusive. Capcom cant be that stupid? They will be alienating a large portion of the games fanbase and it will sell almost nothing in Japan looool

I could see it happening if MS founded the development like DR3. Are there any other solid rumors that Capcom has been working on a Dogma sequel?

This x100. They know how to make things pretty, but they really need a new writer for their new IP. KZ:SF was terrible.

They hired the Fallout: New Vegas guy from Obsidian. So fingers crossed they have good writing from now on.

I don't like first person games since they make me sick rather easy .

Even Elder Scrolls games? I figured slow RPGs wouldn't make anyone motion sick.

There may be a third person setting anyway. TES lets you choose between the two.

Thats how I see it. DD isnt RE. Funding it would be fairly small

Well, a couple of things:

1) DD's budget was huge.

2) A large chunk of DD's sales were from Japan on a PlayStation system.

It'd be very expensive to moneyhat that game I think, unless it was just timed. Either way it wouldn't make much sense for Capcom but... it's Capcom. When have they ever made sense?

yep even RPGs , it getting worst now since i becoming even more sensitive to frame rate so even 3rd person getting me sick now .
Had to take stuff to finish TLOU and TES having a 3rd person option was a god send .

It maybe doesn't even exist and you already killed my hype on it. I want them to work on something in third person.

Third person would certainly be more interesting. I just figure first person is a safer bet since it probably uses an iteration of Shadow Fall's engine.

Though one argument against it being an FPS, if it indeed features any kind of futuristic space-type setting, is that it might make it too similar to Destiny. With that being one of the rumored strikes against Stig's canned project, it's unlikely Sony would have another internal studio working on a game of the same ilk.

That said, maybe it's a third person ARPG with a swords and sandals setting. Maybe its not even real. Like I said, this games makes me curious so I enjoy speculating on it. Really hoping for some kind of reveal.

I predict Sony will show some cool stuff that will continue to make me appreciate my PS4 purchase, and on many occasions I will accidentally glance over to the chat and see numerous people stating how enraged they are that there are no games.

A XV tease would be neat too, if only to inflate my hype a bit.

I'm really hoping Gravity Rush 2 will be announced PS4 exclusive and Gravity Rush gets a HD version for PS4.

It's such a great game it really deserves a chance on something much bigger and more important than the Vita.

Multiplat wouldn't surprise me, but PS4 only and not Vita? I just can't see that happening.

Why does this matter? First person games are good too. :P

No, they aren't. First-person perspective annoys the shit out of me. Destiny is the only game getting a pass, and I'm actually pondering not buying the game after the demo's done, entirely because of the lack of a third-person perspective.

I think it was Yosp who said that every SCEWWS team is working on PS4.

30 first-party games were indeed in development at the time of last year's E3. DemonNite has a list of dots that showed the list seemed to have expanded, and also did not include ports.

Okay.

I've seen on Twitter from a certain 'source' that Dragon's Dogma 2 could be at the MS press conference.

Don't think that means exclusivity mind.

I'd orgasm if DD2 was really happening.

The iffy thing about Dragon Dogma's 2 being MS exclusive ( based on thuway's tweet, at least) is the whole 'troubled development thing.'

We're talking about a game that had 5 year of development time. It's kind of absurd that Capcom would be looking for shoppers one year into the development of the sequel.

Besides, Japan makes up a very healthy segment of the Dragon Dogma's audience. If they were wanting to look for shoppers without killing off the brand, they'd go for Nintendo.

Holy hell....shots fired (somewhat lol?) Where's Tidux lol:

There has also been talks of Massive shifting focus from the PlayStation 4 to Xbox One after pressure from Microsoft, something that our source denies.

"That's not correct. PlayStation 4 is the more powerful hardware and we feel it is easier to develop for. Snowdrop works better on PS4 and even if Microsoft do want us to shift lead platform that's not something that has happened."

That 'source' also said Capcom was looking for someone to help fund it. Sounds like a Titanfall-type situation to me. They also said MS is basically hungry for games to get people on their side again.

While we're at it, GopherD mentioned the "age of exclusives" returning again.

I think all im expecting is to be disappointed at this point.
I want to see new games, but I think they'll only show 1 or 2.

So for the past 4 years, they've showed at least 4-5 new games, but this year they'll only show 1 or 2?

Okay.jpg

How many new *exclusive* AAA games did they show last E3?
I think they'll show Uncharted, one of their biggest franchises, to try and deflect some Halo hype and Beast Souls, and then focus on the Order/Driveclub/Upcoming Indies.

Sometimes I wonder if it's even possible to satisfy most people during E3.

When you realize that there's certain things they have to cover, then that third party developers need a place to showcase their stuff if they aren't under the Konami(lol)/EA/Ubisoft umbrellas, and that they're going to re-show whatever didn't come out last year that's scheduled for this year, along with games that are probably announced but haven't had a proper video reveal....

I mean, how many new games do you want? Personally, knowing a lot of what's coming out of E3, I'm not terribly disappointed. I'm honestly wondering where I'll find the money to buy most of these titles.

This is a mistaken belief. Last year they showed off several games at their PS4 reveal, then revealed The Order at E3. They then went on to show off games at Gamescom and some third-party titles were shown at TGS.

They had 30+ titles in development, and only a third of them are released/announced.

I wonder what these guys are up up: https://twitter.com/Natsume_Inc/statuses/467331659726344192

I would totally love for a Kiki KaiKai reboot really loved those games.

Oh wow, I haven't heard from that studio in awhile. I would love another game like Medabots AX with online!

I think my happiness is already guaranteed. I know Guilty Gear Xrd developers will be there, so we'll get a US release date. I'm interested in seeing more gameplay footage from The Order. They still have to show off the destruction and exploration. I really want to see gameplay footage of Lily Bergamo, but I'm not sure if it's going to be there. It's trademarked in the US, and the release date is 2014, so there's a decent chance of it being there.

If 2 of those games are there, everything else is bonus. At least 2 new game announcements would be great though.

Theater goes black, suddenly...new Uncharted 4 trailer.
10-30 minutes of company BS.
Destiny.
The Order.
Indie spotlight.
10 more minutes of company BS.
Project Beast.
The Last Guardian.
New IP.

The nature of man is thinking everything revolves around E3.

Let's look at the Sony cycle in terms of announcements (first-half of the year) for the past few years back:

1H 2010:
Killzone 3 ( announced preE3)
inFamous 2 ( announced preE3)
Twisted Metal (E3 announcement)
Sorcery (E3 announcement)
Heroes on the Run (E3 announcement)

5 games. (3 at E3, 2 before E3)

1H 2011:
Uncharted : Golden Abyss (pre-E3)
Modnation Racer : Roadtrip (pre-E3)
Ruin ( cancelled ) (E3)
Dust 514 (E3)
Sly Cooper : Thieves in Time (E3)

5 games ( 3 at E3, 2 pre-E3) (6 games if Uncharted 3 announced in Dec is included)

1H 2012:
GoW:Ascension (pre-E3)
Beyond : Two Souls (E3)
PS All Star : Battle Royale ( pre-E3)
Wonderbook (E3)

4 games ( 2 at E3, 2 pre-E3) ( 5 games if TLoU if included)

1H 2013:
Knack (pre-E3)
Killzone:SF (pre-E3)
Driveclub (pre-E3)
inFamous :SS (pre-E3)
Order : 1886 (E3)

5 games ( 4 pre-E3, 1 at E3) ( 6 games if including Deep Down)

1H 2014:
TLoU Remastered
(special mention: Uncharted PS4)

Reason for special mentions was because said games are announced at the very end of the year (PS4 launch and VGAs), and it's practically no different from a 1H reveal if there's no real footage until the following year.

All of the above are their announcements made in the first-half of the respective years, which already exclude Gamescom and TGS to begin with.

I don't understand, are you agreeing with me?
Edit: oh, nevermind - I see what your trying to say, they haven't announced as many things pre-E3 as they used to and so you expect them to announce a lot at E3?

I don't understand, are you agreeing with me?

By historical precedence, Sony has always announced 4-5 games in the first half of every year. ( if not at E3, before E3)

The bigger their pre-E3 blowout, the smaller their E3 event is. Last year was an anomaly because it's the first time they announced 4 games before E3.

Thus, it would be irrational to think that last year's Sony was somehow their norm when it comes to games announcements.

^^ Are you saying Sony will announce a lot of games because they have been quite all year long? Their line-up of only Order/DC and Planetside seems pretty okayish.

Personally, I think Sony will manage to announce 1 first party game @ E3 slated for this year. Rime/Shadow of Beasts/Rapture/Uncharted/Prj.Beast and TLG will not be 2014 I don't think.

A lot of Sony devs/secondary teams have been silent for quite some time like Bend, SSM, MM and GG. Whats going on there?

I'm not saying they will, I'm saying it's a likely assumption based on historical trends. If they buck this year by announcing less games ( or more!), then oh well, back to drawing board.

A lot of Sony devs/secondary teams have been silent for quite some time like Bend, SSM, MM and GG. Whats going on there?

SSM just released GoW last year, and Destigny got cancelled. They'll be silent for at least 12 months, their next game is 2016 in the earlest.

GG would normally be a candidate for silence too, as they released SF last year, but we know their new IP is in the making for 3 years already, so they're a wild card.

Bend, MM and Sony London are the ones who are most likely to be able to talk about something. Bend has been silent since 2012, London has been silent on their non-Wonderbook/Singstar projects, and MM is well... they do whatever they do.

If all they have to show is Uncharted 4 (if it is unveiled, chances are it is going to be the most impressive piece of footage at E3) and Project Beast (which will be glorious) as new, unannounced IPs, then MS is going to mop the floor with them....MS will go games non-stop, so I expect them to uncover at least 4 new IPs between their first and second party (Crackdown3, Forza Horizon, in addition to Sunset Overdrive, KI 2nd Season, Quantum Break, Halo5...and moneyhatted third party stuff....
Good luck to Sony, I guess.

Hmm...you do know that Sony already announced way more than that, right? And cmon, KI DLC? wut ._.
