Looks fun. I'll enjoy it.
Still think it will bomb, at least domestically. Too sci-fi, too "weird looking aliens" for girls to join their boyfriends into the theaters and no star factor to convince them to watch it whatsoever.

While this is surely anecdotal evidence, I think we shouldn't discount Chris Pratt. Both my girlfriend and sister are dying to see this solely because they're in love with Chris Pratt.

awww yiss

I don't know if it'll be that hard of a sell. When I saw Spider-Man 2, the Guardians trailer got the biggest, most noticeable reaction from the crowd. I think that Marvel Studios logo alone carries a lot more weight than some people realize.

it was ok. Maybe a little too loud on the trailer music, and the quick cutting (blasted kids and your fast twitch eyeballs!), but I liked alot of it. Still think Groot should be bigger, but maybe they'll have that in the movie.

If this movie doesn't make a lot of money I'll officially lose faith in humanity.

Do people outside of america even know about the "Guardians of the Galaxy"? I mean before the first teaser i never heard of those people before.

People said the same with Thor and now his movies are making bank.

his entire Filmography is either small movies, small parts or voice work and the TV show he's on isn't exactly a ratings monster.

What was that giant floating skull in space?

That my friend, was the severed head of a space god.
Wrap your head around that idea and the fact that you will see it on cinema with a gun-toting racoon, a talking tree and a bunch of weird stuff, all with proper marketing and high budget special effects.

We live on the era of the weird. And its glorious.
Like this trailer.

Do people outside of comic fans know about them would be a better assessment. The answer is probably not, but I wouldn't downplay the power of the Marvel label. It's risky, but that's why I'm more excited for something like this than for a Thor 2.

As long as I like the movie to do amazing numbers, i can't see it doing more than 400 million.

Even among core comic book readers they are somewhat of an unknown group. This is the riskier movie Marvel has ever attempted.

Most people in America probably didn't know about GotG before the movie was announced. The only people I knew who cared about them were people that frequently read comics.

Nobody really knew about Thor or Iron Man or Cap either, well at least internationally.

Why? A ww2 adventure romp was not that risky. Also captain America has more name cache than iron man had

Possibly due to the name itself, Captain America. There was a risk it would flop overseas. I honestly think this will be good. August doesn't have many decent films, so it should have some legs. And as soon as Marvel starts really pushing the fact this is the same universe as The Avengers, it'll get even more hype. It'll probably be the least grossing film of Phase 2, but Marvel has probably already anticipated that.
