Having just finished it on my way through all of the films i can only say how horribly wrong this is.

It has one or two cool scenes, mostly to do with Oily Eyes Phoenix wrecking shit. And the obviously brilliant Stewart/Bassett-level casting of Kelsey Grammer as Beast. But that's pretty much it.

I liked this shot

Thought it was cool. Didn't really like much else about it.

There was the occasional good scene (though it seems like they really put most of their effort into the scene shown above). It just kept on wrecking characters and the dialogue was awful. The CGI also hasn't held up that well imo. It's an example of how NOT to do an ensemble cast when that's what had been so great about the first 2.

Can I get the low down on confirmed/speculated cameos in this? I heard Kelsey Grammar is back as Beast or something. Hey can you guys spoil this movie for me please?

Also whoever made that first fan poster in the OP is a goddamned genius. It's perfect.

"X men 3 sucks" is a meme that has run its course. X3 is the best of the initial trilogy.

Xmen: Last Stand is so bad, it trumps other Marvel trilogies as having the worse third film (Spiderman 3 and Ironman 3 but narrow escaping Blade 3). This is a movie so bad, someone stood up half way through the film and shot a person sitting in front of them.

Ok, that wasn't the movies fault, but if they said it was the reason I wouldn't be surprised in the least.

I think in one of the posters they have beast cross off as if he is dead. Not too sure tho.

Lawrence is trash compared to the real Mystique, Rebecca Romijn.

There wasn't enough Deathstrike in X2. Hopefully I can catch a screening of DoFP tomorrow.

Crazy is contagious, it seems.

Rewatched X1 and X2 over the last two nights. X1 doesnt hold up all that well, especially in the action scenes. You can really see Singer's limitations at the time as an action director (as well as some budget limitations) but it set up the world nicely.

X2 on the other hand is fucking flawless. It holds up super well and is full of so many great sequences.

First Class will be tonight as I am obviously skipping Last Stand.

I'm going to go watch this in two weeks and I'm pretty excited.

I think the problem with a lot of these superhero movies is that they're mostly generic trash, much like Transformers. As much as some would like to argue otherwise, they're the same shit with a different coat of paint made to appeal to comic book fans instead of a bunch of teenagers. Though that sometimes may be the same thing. Not that this is a bad thing always because occasionally you get the blockbuster movie done right like Avengers, but most of the rest is crap or just forgettable (Thor, Thor 2, Captain America, Iron Man 2/3, Incredible Hulk, Green Lantern, Amazing Spider-Man etc.) It's a long process to finally get to something done somewhat right.

The first X-Men is flawed and pretty bad, but the second is still one of the better superhero movies. That's mostly why I'm excited to see this after the strong initial reception it's receiving. I'm hoping it's not a let down.

Hoping to go to a midnight release of this, so I've been rewatching the older movies except for Origins (fuck that movie) and The Wolverine (which I didn't think was on amazon video but apparently it is, will have to watch that now). X1 was janky but fun, a solid first outing. X2 was as awesome as I remembered. X3 I saw the midnight showing and was so disappointed in it I never watched it again until now, so for a while I had thought maybe it wasn't so bad just initially disappointing. Nope, it's awful, just shitting on all the things that made the first two good. First Class I hadn't seen since the theater, but I really liked it on second viewing, McAvoy and Fassbender were so good.

Really looking forward to Thursday night.

Something that always bothered me about X2 and I've noticed it since I bought it on DVD.

The scene right before Nightcrawler teleports into the room with the kids, you see a shot of the kids looking up in a panic. If you adjust your eyes, you can see Nightcrawler in the back, arms crossed like a vampire, eyes closed. he's waiting for Singer to call for action so he can jump forward as if he just teleported into the scene.

These superhero movies always have minor errors like that (mostly small editing mistakes).

Tiny Juggernaut is lol, if you can't do the character right, don't do it at all, Juggy should be CGI, this is why last stand was pure shit...

Nah, Ratner sucks, but if Singer did Juggernaut, he still would not be all CG. Waste of money and resources, he was fine in X3 even though the movie sucked. I'm pretty sure Colossus is also another one of those dudes that is much bigger in the source material, but will look just fine on screen.. played by a live actor.

On the commentary they discussed how someone mentioned if the balls were reference to the ball bearings Auschwitz prisoners had to make that were used in the production of German artillery. Singer really dug the idea so I wouldn't be surprised if they mention if offhand in this film.

I didn't know that. I just like how the spun around him like electrons. SYMBOLISM!

Not being big enough is the least of Juggernaut's problems. He shouldn't even be there, fighting alongside Magneto in the first place.

lol juggernaut was such dumb fan service

kind of felt bad for ratner, the guy didn't read comics but really didn't want to let anyone down so he had his writers try and put in so much fan service

even the "I'm the juggernaut, bitch" line from the youtube parodies made it into the movie

While he's not a great director I don't blame him for x3, that falls on fox and whoever was in charge at the time.

It took everything in my power to not just walk out of the fucking movie when I heard that line.

X3 is a horrendous piece of shit. There's nothing that's a "meme" about it, it just sucks on so many levels.

Watching First Class right now to get ready for tonight!

Everything with magneto and charles is so good, magneto especially. Bacon does great as well. January Jones is so horrible.

"Go fuck yourself"

So perfect. Wolverine is the best.

I love everything about the kids showing off their powers and the attack, so well done.

Hasn't Bryan Singer said to pretty much ignore some continuity errors?

yeah, there's some little stuff like Xavier saying he met Erik when he was 17 or building Cerebro together, and some random cameos (human Hank in X2, Trask and Moira in X3) that he said to just gloss over.

Death by coin is a horrible way to go.

One thing I liked about First Class, were the deaths were brutal as fuck. When a character like Azazel appears in these kinds of films I always think. Why not instead of hand to hand combat, just take your enemies really high and drop them like rocks? And thats exactly what he did. For like 10 minutes. And then you have that awesome scene of the Baconator walking into the compound and absorbing all the bullets and blowing the fuck out of everyone.
