Chris G use to play Smash. Would be rad if he showed up and cleaned house somehow.

Really? I'm not that optimistic. I'm sure there will be at least some negative reactions, even if they aren't fully sincere.
Negative reactions will get clicks, so there will inevitably be negative reactions.
Brawls competitiveness IS crippled by all those things and much more. The low hit stun you mentioned means after every hit it's right back to the neutral game couple that with overpowered shields and you have a game that heavily favors camp while making rush-down ultra hard. And it isn't like you couldn't camp in melee if you wanted to as it can favor both but with brawl it's heavily camp-based with ledge invincibility stalling being a legit tactic. It also has tripping as everyone knows but even worse because it's just a "screw you" to competitive players is that the Frame that moves come out and end on is slightly randomized just so you can't count themNah, the people who prefer 64 don't endlessly bash Melee or Brawl. Melee fans have a very particular dislike of Brawl, and this new game seems to play mostly like Brawl. Just wait and see - there will be complains of no wavedash, low hit-stun, Brawl-like air dodge, grabbing the ledge while facing the other side, etc.
Brawl's competitiveness is crippled because of the terrible balance, actually, but Melee players don't seem to care because Melee itself is no Virtua Fighter.
The vent being streamed on Nintendo's Twitch channel, offica, E3 Twitch channel and YouTube makes me wonder: could it be the same for the Digital Event?
I'm not saying it'll happen at this event, but really soon we're going to be reading/hearing those complains I mentioned![]()
It'll be the same, the crowd will probably watch the ND live, except we won't hear people cheering over 'X' game announcement.
If we put this aside, we have awkward presentations feat. Emily Rogers and other people babbling some nonsense and preaching their product live. I largely prefer the Nintendo Directs, they're all straight to the point, efficient and people, except a few, seem to love these.
Correction: YOU don't care. But everyone else who wants a real atmosphere at E3 do care. I don't understand that wasted opportunity, it could be such a great E3 show but instead they are doing a video for their announcements. They HAVE a stage, they HAVE a audience and they WASTE this on ONE game. Zelda U alone could make, when its good, such big emotions it would TOP the E3 2004, because there are 3000 NINTENDO FANS!
Uh I really don't want to participate in a Brawl-Melee war, I was just saying people were going to complain about those things that I don't find inherently wrong (except balance and tripping, obviously). And we know this game has Brawl-like air dodging, the hit-stun doesn't seem to go back to Melee levels, etc.Brawls competitiveness IS crippled by all those things and much more. I won't even start on the balance...
People aren't asking for melee HD but instead asking for it not to be brawl 2.0
Edit: just as a disclaimer I want to say its fine if you or anyone else likes brawl nothing wrong with that and hey more power to you but just don't pretend there isn't plenty of valid reasons for disliking it and that the people that do are just bias
Captain Falcon is most likely gonna be unlockable again, so I wouldn't get your hopes up.I'm going to be seriously disappointed if Falcon isn't a selectable character for the tournament. Knee hype is too strong.
Really, you're stating what's been obvious for the last 6 months and how everyone in the Melee scene has been approaching Smash 4: with caution and lowered expectations..
G&W is almost guaranteed to be unlockable, so sadly, no.
Reading through this thread, I like how every Smash discussion devolves into some preemptive Melee fan bashing.
Like a Melee fan could do literally nothing and somebody will concoct a narrative about how they hate fun or have already pre-judged it (without realizing that they themselves have just committed the same sin).
Hey guys, I'm on GMT / UTC -3 over here and I'm getting really confused with when I should wake up / tune in to watch anything Nintendo related at this E3.
Any lights on this?
I play Brawl competitively and I couldn't care any less if most SSB players don't like Brawl. It's the childish, one-sided, never-ending bashing what is irritating for us. I also play SSFIV but the "4 sucks 3 rocks" attitudes never really got to this point, aided of course by the fact that SSFIV has a much bigger competitive scene.

Give us names
I don't think anyone can argue that Brawl wasn't meant to be more casual friendly, it's just that we're not oblivious to the fact that Melee wasn't supposed to be EVO's flagship game eitherThat comparison isn't really the same though... it's similar, sure, but SFIV was at least intended by the developers to be played competitively while Brawl was specifically designed against it or with it not in mind at all. All of what Sakurai said pre-Brawl and post-Brawl shows that before 2010 or so.
Yes, you could make the argument SFIV made some things easier, slowed the pace down, the ultra system, etc. but at the end of the day there's no mechanic like tripping in it that specifically interrupts your play and can get you KO'd or lose the match. And while that's an extreme example, the mechanic itself being in the game at all is what shows the design and intent behind the game.
I was as well.Oh, I was referring to the 16 players in the invitational. I suppose at least some of the thousands playing at Best Buy will hate on the game lol
Generalizing is not fair indeed, but so many times I've heard or read on Reddit or other sites stuff like "I just want Melee HD" that, man, it does seem like a considerable chunk of people want nothing but Melee. And once again, that's cool as long as you accept other people are not wrong to prefer other games, even if they're flawed. Because really, Melee is flawed itself yet it gets placed on such a weird pedestal, especially compared to 64 which is a more balanced game which has proven to be the least "campy" game in the series.I was as well.
I prefer Melee but I still love Brawl, and I've always considered the degree of hate that Brawl has gotten to be a bit irrational. I can't claim to know the personalities of the very top players, but I'm sure there are some that will always hate future iterations of Smash simply for the crime of not being Melee.
I'm probably being unfair though.
Huh? It says " Nintendo Digital Event livestream" now, was that always the case? Maybe its live streamed and not a recorded video maybe even with a audience, pls be true...
What if they pull a Oprah and everybody at the Theater has a copy of SSB4 under their seat?

lol, the video reaction footage would be legendary. Then we change the bee's gif to Smash bro's.
It's been a livestream for all of their Directs.
And what does an audience do anyway? The reactions are staged and fake so why does it matter?
This is like people getting upset that a show doesn't use a laughtrack.
It's still a livestream, even if pre-recorded. A normal stream would let us skip to the end of the video. It still offers a lot of the same excitement, having the information doled out to everyone at the same time.I don't think so, these are just streams without being live.
For me, a audience and a big stage adds a lot to the atmosphere. I can't play the games anyway in June so why not having a great atmosphere at E3 for delivering the informations? These also aren't really fake, for the most part. It's a good thing though that Nintendo does this for Smash Bros, but as a non smash fan it don't appeals to me so I state my opinion. For me, Smash is just another boring fighting game.
Watch Nintendo unveil the new Zelda or Metroid right at the end of the event so you get 3000 Nintendo fans going crazy. Will be TP reveal all over again
Bring on the TrinnenI'm really excited about what Nintendo's doing. Tuesday seems like it will be a long day of Nintendo goodness.
It's not just the Digital Event and Smash either. A lot of people are overlooking the live demos from Treehouse in-between which is a big deal too. So, we get the announcements, game demos from those announcements and then the live tournament. Basically, beginning to end Nintendo's got you covered.
Not only are you confusing Emily Roger for Cammie Dunaway but Cammie Dunaway doesn't even work at Nintendo any more.

Thanks for this! Just added to the event calendar on my smart phone.Hey guys, just a pro-tip -> if you go to Nintendo website: http://e3.nintendo.com/#2014/date
You can actually book in your personal calendar (and even Outlook, thank based Nintendo for considering the ones who will be at work) the Nintendo time.
I'm tempted to fly-in to e3.
Supposedly, this guy is in charge of making the list of people to invite and he's part of NoA. He's been in a few of the Directs before (usually when they have to announce some localizations? I think?) Anyway, if you check who he's following you can see he's following tons of Smashers from Mango to Android (Armada's younger brother) to Kounotori (Japanese Falco player) to progducto to TKBreezy to ChuDat to even Shroomed and S2J (there's more he's following obviously, like he IS following Armada).
Now obviously that's not an indication of who will be invited exactly, in the end, but it's a good sign that because he's the one making the list of invitees we may see some of the people he's following on it. And also, him following prog and D1 gives good hope that they might be the commentators. Again, it's at least a sign that someone in NoA seems to follow the Smash competitive community.
I really hope it turns out OK, anyway. I really doubt Nintendo would use some small Japanese tournament to decide who gets invited to this lol.
Although weirdly he's not following PPMD or Mew2King. But like I said, who he's following wouldn't necessarily be a 100% indicator of who's on the list lol.
Go back in time and play Melee competitively at a high level constantly for the last 13 years.
Ah okay. That sounds ridiculously exclusive as shit! Pretty unfair if you ask me.
Now it makes sense.
What if they pull a Oprah and everybody at the Theater has a copy of SSB4 under their seat?

This is going to be great.
What does outlook mean? I have work that day so whatever it is, im going to use it when I get home.Hey guys, just a pro-tip -> if you go to Nintendo website: http://e3.nintendo.com/#2014/date
