Why is Worlds so far away ;_;

EU and NA need to get their shit together.

Edit 2: Not unreasonable to imagine LMQ repping NA come November. I wonder how playing in a lowly league will limit them (if at all)?
 
So who was supposed to be SKT's secret OP support champ? Zilean ain't exactly secret in pro matches. I was expecting more like Gragas support which hasn't been used yet.
 
You know, alot of people point to many things NA/EU lack that makes Korea so much stronger but people are ignoring one of the simpler points that makes Korea a dominant region.

In Korea, you cannot have a bad week. You lose two games and your on the verge of dropping out if not gone. In NA/EU, you can be second entire split and it won't matter, or if you have 7 game losing streak. NA/EU just isn't built for to breed talent and competitiveness like Korea is.

I think LMQ are good but I don't see them breaking top 3. I know scrims are scrims, but from what i've heard they've struggled against C9, TSM and CLG.

maybe if TSM suck but who knows.

I think people overrate how much coaches at the elite teams are prepared to kick players for one off split or series. Consider Najin Shield, where the coaches have stuck with a seemingly mediocre team for a long time and they've developed into an elite outfit, or players like Space who've stuck around despite not setting the world on fire. SKT K haven't changed their roster since formation, give or take ManDu's time off, and the Samsung teams opted to swap their mid laners across rather than release one of them. Obviously first team players do get released for not having the necessary mechanical skill, but this has been happening increasingly frequently in NA and EU without the overall level of play noticeably rising, given Fnatic and C9, the dominant teams, haven't made roster changes for a long time (Rekkles was always coming back for Puszu once he was of age, so the only change since the start of S3 for Fnatic was Yellowstar -> nRated).

What does get punished severely though, are poor attitudes towards your teammates or towards practice (I don't think you'd get away with turning up hungover to scrims, as Fnatic players reportedly did recently...), which is what SaintV and Hotshot have recently claimed often go unpunished when players are in charge. League seems to be a game where good attitudes, planning and teamwork are more important when it comes to improving than gathering the absolute best individuals (e.g. SK Gaming coming 2nd this split in EU with a group of largely unheralded players). The population density, culture, and high playerbase definitely does mean the scene is brimming with talent and competition, in a while NA and EU are not and likely can never - I wouldn't deny that at all.

Another big difference is that the Korean e-sports teams pick up promising players and train them as subs for several months before releasing them into the team, instead of relying on them to come fully formed from amateur teams.
 
I think Regi mentioned something about NA not being a great scene relative to Korea because of the attitude and effort LCS players take and show in Solo Q too IIRC?

The top two get automatic spots, and the next four go to a last-man-standing type playoff (A plays the winner of B vs. the winner of C vs. D). They are currently top, but they'll drop to second after the OGN Spring Final if Shield win. If they don't outperform at least one of Samsung Ozone, Samsung Blue or Najin White Shield in Champions Summer, its likely the best they'll be able to do is reach the playoff, where they're likely to go against CJ Blaze, KT B etc. I exaggerated somewhat - it's hard to see them not making the playoff for the last spot, but they definitely can't afford another sloppy group stage if they want an automatic spot in Worlds.

Things looking grim for Gambit after a comprehensive defeat in which they did almost nothing. Roccat not too impressive in victory either. Millenium won twice, but took a long time about it each time and relied on Kerp to do the heavy lifting, especially after they almost lost control against SHC. SHC's mid laner had an... uninspiring performance on TF. CW were simply weird, and it appeared to me that it was more due to Alliance wanting to things slowly after some early over-zealous plays than their unusual composition's strengths that the game extended. Fnatic played strongly for 20 minutes then lost all co-ordination and were punished hard by SK, who come out of day one looking best. Hope things improve, because on the evidence of day one the fears expressed by many that EU would be weaker this split as a result of the roster changes are likely to be proven right.

I had Kerp riding the bench :( I mean, between Turtle and Bjergsen, I'd be dumb to put him in based on past performance but damn. At least I got those sweet fantasy points from Kev1n.

It got to the point where Quickshot spent basically thirty minutes straight just berating the European playstyle and saying, "This, this is why the Koreans eat our lunch!" (Granted, it was in a game dragging on long enough that part of that could just be him trying to fill time, but it seems like the frustration with the Euro scene is real.)

I'm about the furthest from being impressed by NiQ's debut that's humanly possible. I understand maybe you're a little bit nervous, but when you pick Nidalee and go 0/0/0 until nine towers down in your first professional game, that doesn't say good things. If nothing else, it makes me wonder why the fuck you're there and not literally anyone else, because you can grab any Gold player off solo queue and have them phone in that performance.

Hopefully it was just virgin jitters, because if Gambit replaced their ultra-aggressive, dynamic mid-laner with a timid, farm-heavy siege specialist they're going to be in for an enormous world of hurt. The only thing that ever allowed Darien to play full-dipshit five miles forward of river without wards or kept people from just jumping on Gambit's puny bot lane every time they stepped into vision was the constant pressure Alex and Diamond put on the map. They simply can't survive without presence radiating out of mid.

I don't think you can fairly evaluate him based on that game, especially when Diamond gives his opponent free double buffs. Especially on a champion like Nidalee that isn't good when you're entire team collapses before you can even get to the midgame.

yea, he got shutdown pretty hard because of that bad diamond invade and nidalee isn't a champion that allows you to comeback by making plays in the way someone like tf could.

also the global presence of the tf+eve combo is pretty paralyzing once you're set back. not to mention your tp top laner

I don't know, he chose Nidalee with the enemy mid not shown and both Yasuo and Twisted Fate still available. Granted, that may have been a team strategy call from over his head, but when I see someone pick Nidalee mid and go 0/0/0 while a Twisted Fate completely rampages across the map opposite them, my first reaction is generally, "You don't fucking know how to play mid, so you just picked the Ezreal of mid lane and spent the whole game cowering in the corner, didn't you?"

Maybe Gambit's more understanding than I am in solo queue, though. Maybe that's what Alex meant when he said he was leaving them because they've mellowed out and learned to like losing, now.
 
It's borderline disrespectful for SK to try and run a Vayne/Morgana lane without looking for a laneswap. I'm not really sure what they were thinking, there.
