Much like the first season it's not a 1:1 situation. But from what I gathered, it sounds like they're cutting up TLOU2 material to spread it across multiple seasons. I assumed 2, which this would confirm. But I'm not entirely sure either. So Season 2 is not the full TLOU Part 2 game?
How? Bill can only be reared... and he's deadThat just means someone fronted the Bill
So what? Also season 2 is 92% on Rotten Tomatoes so renewing makes sense.PR tactic.
Season 3 will be the 2nd half of TLOU2 game.I just hope the real TLOU3 doesn't take inspiration from the TV series.

Shows get renewed before a season premieres all the time..
they announce the next season to create the narrative that is one is so good.
Reviews are helping too..

reviews and media push. This show will release weekly, right?Reviews are helping too.
didn't know season 2 was already out, and the ratings in the bag. They don't need to "create" anything though.
Critics love it, viewers love it, and it's the most watched show on HBO.
HBO has renewed the Emmy-winning drama series for a third season ahead of its highly anticipated return this weekend. The news comes on the heels of the show's new episodes receiving glowing reviews from critics, with season two currently sitting at a 92 percent positive average on Rotten Tomatoes, and The Hollywood Reporter calling it "thrilling" and "addictive."
"We approached season two [trailer below] with the goal of creating something we could be proud of," said co-creator and showrunner Craig Mazin. "The end results have exceeded even our most ambitious goals, thanks to our continued collaboration with HBO and the impeccable work of our unparalleled cast and crew. We look forward to continuing the story of The Last of Us with season three."

They can't cram the entire Part 2 (which is larger than Part 1) into 7 episodes. So Season 2 is not the full TLOU Part 2 game?
The first season broke all kinds of rating records for HBO as well. Every single metric you can think of, the first season did amazing.People look really sad using critic reviews like some kind of metric. Every piece of shit show gets glazed on RT - especially if panders to woke bs. I've lost count of the amount of shows that have great critic RT scores and horrible user scores. Not saying the show is good or bad - but critic reviews for film and TV mean even less than they do for games, which is already a pretty low bar.
Neogaf about to go into a coma with this one.
Whoever did that review thread for season 2 must be dead since this renewal is because of the stellar reviews for season 2 alone

92% On Rotten Tomatoes (2 point below season 1) and 83 on Metacritic (up 1 from yesterday, and 1 point less than season 1)
They did special showings at cinemas?! Lucky you! Thanks for sharing. Watched the first episode of Season 2 last night in cinema. Was awesome and looking forward to the rest.

Sounds like a great experience! A little bit jealous ahahYeah my partner works at Sky TV New Zealand so they given tickets to an advanced screening at a local cinema and they went all out. Everyone got free Last Of Us baseball caps, complimentary snacks and the cinema seats were super plush, almost didn't want to leave at the end it was so comfy![]()

I mean…imagine the second game in 7 episodes. That would a messExtremely disappointed they are milking the game into 2 seasons. I'm going to wait until they are both out before watching, I'm completely over these multi year breaks between seasons.
I think it's more that the execs got to see the finished Season 2, and feel comfortable enough in it's quality that they predict it to be successful with the audience. No one is going to commit millions into an extra season of TV just to give a false impression that the earlier unreleased season is good. Especially not the cheap asses at WB..

It ain't much in P2 to spread it into many seasons, by the looks of it, they avoided killing this weak ass version of Joel in the season while building the concept of him being the bad guy all along, after that, what? A third season where he gets golfing and this annoying af version of Ellie has to get convinced to avenge him, even tho she already knows by that time he was the bad guy all this time, so why would she want to avenge him?Much like the first season it's not a 1:1 situation. But from what I gathered, it sounds like they're cutting up TLOU2 material to spread it across multiple seasons. I assumed 2, which this would confirm. But I'm not entirely sure either.
Season 2 - start of the game and all the flashback scenes , ends with joel's death
Season 3 - starts after joel's death ends with theathre scene
season 4 - abby's side with lev and end game with ellie on the beach
I think this is how they will break the 2nd game into the show
I just hope the real TLOU3 doesn't take inspiration from the TV series.
