Just came back from it absolutely loved it definitely one of the best X men films so far
some fantastic sequences throughout it
Make sure you stay for the credits as there is a scene after the credits

It is a movie with time-traveling, so undoing some fatalities was to be exepected,
but
I still felt bad about some of the initial (and sometimes gruesomes) deaths
and old Magneto's final words gave me tears

The movie hit the right emotional buttons for me

and they had a lot of fun with the powers of a certain character

I'm seeing this Saturday. I thought first class was pretty good so I'm looking forward to it. Hoping for another great performance from Fassbender/McAvoy.

Yup, could do without both of them definitely.

Meh, there are so many positive reviews coming through, that one is in the minority.

I remember leaving the theater after X2 and needing to talk about it in my class the next morning. One of my favorite childhood movie experiences. Hopefully this can be nearly as great and inspire hope in the franchise.

Count me in as one of the minority.
I should've known better than to get hyped for my favourite franchise.
If you've seen all the trailers, the first 5 mins that was shown a few weeks ago, and the Spiderman 2 end credits, most of the good scenes are spoiled

it was allright, the beginning was great and the ending was satisfactory. only the middle part of the movie slows down to a crawl and did not have clever enough dialogue to keep it interesting.

Better than Parts 3 and Wolverine Origins, thats for sure and it kind of wipes the whole franchise clean for a new fresh start.

Oh man. Sculli would not be hyping up a shitty movie. Can't fucking wait

I dunno, mang. I haven't got my FULL dick-swinging confidence behind this. Not with Kinberg attached as the writer. If Singer is allowed to direct the next flick with the X2 writers, I'll be the first to unzip.

But Singer's presence is enough to make me hope for this one.

Just saw it! It is my favorite of the franchise and starts a fresh for the franchise. The scene at the end is
The reveal of Apocalypse and in the background you can see the four horsemen of the apocalypse.

QS doesn't need to look like a badass. Also character assasinated him.

QS just doesn't move fast, he thinks fast and his basic movement is too fast for normal people.

Him being laid back is not who QS is and shows Singer didn't read about him.

He is supposed to be a douche because he is FORCED to move at a slow speed.

The costume does not show who he is.

That is a MASSIVE problem.

And part of QS's core characteristic is what is called Pietro Maximoff Syndrome.

Like I said the Logan/Magneto/Xavier parts will be great, rest of characters except for Mystique are just there for power wallpaper.

Sorry but it sounds like Singer did read about him and you just haven't seen the movie.

That is a MASSIVE problem.

:P

Going to see this in 2 hours. Hyped:) Even though I've seen the spoilers:)

Where is Sculli? Did he die because of the awesomeness or is he so disappointed he just can't bring himself to post impressions?

Anyways I'm hyped, 6 more hours. I think I'm gonna rewatch First Class.

He probably fell asleep waiting for the post-credits scene, because it's after ALL the credits and they're fucking long.

Just got back. Loved it. Probably the best X-Men movie so far.

Singer is still not the greatest action director around, but Quicksilver was surprisingly well done. He had the best scene in the entire movie IMO.

Bring the sequels, I couldn't be more excited for them.

So close, but I don't want to spoil the movie. But I want to spoil the movie. But I don't.

I just don't think I can find time to go. But I may find time to go. So maybe I don't want to spoil the movie....

Just finished my showing here in Bangkok. Holy shit, that was great. Some of the most creative uses of super powers that put most Superhero movies to shame. Sogood.gif

Just got back. This will be spoiler free.

God damn it's good having Singer back. This is just one of those films that feels like the complete popcorn blockbuster experience. It's dark, emotional, funny as shit and has some great action and special effects.

Let's get this out of the way first. Quicksilver is the best thing in this film. He's the new Nightcrawler, only better. And Crimsonspider has no idea what the fuck he's talking about and really ought to wait to see the film before whinging.

Next up - it's damn good having Wolverine back. That may sound silly after 7 goddamn films now with Jackman, but I haven't seen Wolverine since X2. In X3, Jackman was sleepwalking through the film and he was an emotional, tonal mess in every other spinoff since then. Singer directs Hugh back on track. Also, Hugh REALLY needs to lay off the HGH. You can tell which scenes he's just gotten a pump on for. Jesus fucking christ man.

The best player in the whole thing is easily Patrick Stewart. J Law sucks noodles and everybody else is pretty good.

Great having John Ottman back. I immediately felt like I was right back in the Singerverse.

The script was better than I feared, there are some great nods, easter-eggs and references that aren't shoved down your throat, but this script can be very unsubtle and filled with stilted exposition/dialogue.

Remember that scene in X2 that I never shut the fuck up about? Pyro meeting Magneto on the X-Jet? That scene runs maybe half a page and tells you everything you need to know about each of the characters, Erik's charisma and how seductive he can be toward somebody like Pyro. And in that half-page, we know Pyro is being seduced. And that's all we need to see to know where it's going. It's great screenwriting because it doesn't betray any of the characters and moves the story forward in terms of each of their goals. Kinberg's idea of an arc seems to be a character stuck at point A, whilst pounding the same plea for growth throughout the entire film's runtime until they break through to B. It's less of an arc of changing degrees so much as 'This character was here and now they're here.' The script also leaves very little to subtext. Characters can very rarely understand each others motivations if they don't say them out loud to one another (the audience) again and again.

Don't get me wrong, the script has some really strong ideas and some really great plotting - it just doesn't feel nearly as organic as it should be. It also has some moments that it asks you to roll with - logical consistencies notwithstanding. But again, some of the ideas in the film that they come up with are very inventive and fun to see on screen.

Singer directs the shit out of the action scenes in this. There are going to be some very, very satisfying gifs made. The film also carries through his sense of humor from the other films.

The future is scary. That sense of dread is palpable. It's just wanted I wanted. Anybody complaining about the Future Sentinels not being menacing hasn't seen the film.

Overall, it's a really fun film that easily contains the best action of the X-films to date. It's also something that feels really satisfying if you're a fan of Singer's X-films.

X-ranking time.

X2 >> DofP >>>> X1 >> First Class >>>>>>>>> all the other bullshit.

P.S: this film is now up to 95% with 58 reviews.

And the scenes where they work as a team are glorious.

EDIT: And for those of you wondering what the latest positive review says.

For better or worse, X-Men: Days Of Future Past is the first Marvel movie to truly embrace comics-style storytelling.

Thanks Sculli, very informative review. I think I'm gonna see this film after all even though X2 is the only X-Men movie I've liked so far.

Nice.

Can't wait to see it now.
