GameStop seeing greater interest in Xbox One since price drop announcement

No flipping way.

Edit: I am more interested in one for sure. Just need sunset overdrive and a couple other games to be good and I think I will own one.

I've been watching the sales ranking of this SKU on Amazon.

The highest rank it hit was in the 130's a day or so after the announcement. Since then its dropped close to #300.

Presumably this month's sales will be abysmal. If the demand didn't increase from May it would have been an unbelievable failure.

Actually I'm hearing more about people wanting to see if they drop the bundle to that price. Which I can get behind.

A drop with no games won't move the needle for long, but the one will get games this fall and that'll help it to have momentum as more and more 3rd party games come out to fill the gaps between exclusives

Stronger demand is a pretty loose term. Depending on who you talk to a 1% increase could be seen as stronger demand. Of course there is stronger demand to reserve a cheaper box, because as far as I know people weren't reserving a product already on shelves. So going from 0 preorders to any number could be considered strong demand. Also how did they engage power up members? Was it strictly a poll that asked were they more likely to buy one at $399? What was the sampling size of members? Sales stats are the only thing that matters and those won't be out until July.

Kinectless SKU announced: won't matter since PS4 is better for the same price

Interest shown since price drop: duh, no shit. herp derp

I'm more interested than I was before. That said, the Kinect SKU with Forza download I saw yesterday at Costco for $479 doesn't seem too awful, either. They needed to do something, though. Costco has had a full pallet of the things for months.

Doesn't seem to be reflected on the Amazon charts. The $399 Xbone is #291 currently and it usually hovers in the 200-300 range.

This kinectless bundle wont do much in the long run. MS has an image problem on their hand. They need tons and tons of cool games to turn the tide. Price helps get people willing to take the plunge, but you have to have the games to make the start being interested. I don't see anything at E3 changing that.

It's not a price drop. Don't get why the gaming press is so adamant about saying "price-drop". A price drop would be $399 WITH Kinect. This is just a competitive product placement.
