If anything, its the telling telltale signs that should had foretold any caring parent what to fucking watch out for in their kid. Granted his stuff sounds surreal and unrealistic, but ultimately, yeah, he took it for serious.
This way should educate some people of dangers (especially women, even more so) of lunatics like him to watch out for.
They dicovered them a week ago, even if they took them seriously (I don't think I would have before he actually killed someone) what were they supposed to do? Wave their magoc parent stick and make him better?
He was 22, there wasn't much they could have done except trying to talk to him and we don't know what they did and didn't do.

I normally agree with this, but in this case I don't think it's true. His plan to become a God or whatever he was going on about by doing this backfired. He'll be forever remembered as that creepy, whiny, virgin who snapped because he couldn't get pussy.

These videos are reminding me of a YT channel I saw a couple years ago that I saw posted on GAF. Guy was a bald neo-con smoking an e-cig and sipping whiskey while going off on weird philosophical tangents. Looked like Terry Goodkind or Kane from Command & Conquer. Does this ring any bells? I've been trying to find those videos again for a good laugh.

A very sad situation for all involved; the child for his loneliness and crippling sense of self-worth, the parents of the child for the guilt they will most likely feel for being unable to stop this, the victims who have had their lives cut short, the parents of the victims for their losses, and the friends and relatives of all involved for the anguish they face. It's easy to use the context of what's happened as a lens for viewing his past behaviour, and recognising how he was a very disturbed individual, but it's a shame few with the means of assisting him recognised it before this happened.
It really encourages one to consider the life that he must have led in order to develop such a spiteful viewpoint but I would certainly imagine that the continuous rejection he felt, even by the most unprovoked things, was a major contribution in fostering his loathing towards society and some of his misogynistic views which seem to enhance his feelings of rejection/failure. A rather sad aspect is that in one of the threads linked he suggests that his parents found the videos, yet clearly failed to act enough so as to prevent such a thing happening. Certainly they misinterpretted the severity of it, and perhaps misinterpretted the sincerity given the over the top nature. In one of his posts he commented that he embraced hatred/evil (I cannot remember exactly what it was and the post has since been deleted) and I cannot help but wonder if he was so coonsumed with the idea of rejection, that he clung to an identity of a boastful, almost stereotypically evil individual (because that video seems far beyond a 'normal' degree of derangement, they feel as if they are taken straight from a cheesy, over-the-top movie villain) as a defense mechanism, to make it easier to feel that he is merely the 'evil' character in the play of life, a good individual being misunderstood and this being the inevitable conclusion, or if, indeed, it is a combination of his privelleged environment factored with a crushing sense of loneliness.
Regardless of what he felt, it really is a shame that this is the inevitable result. Misguided or not, I really wish that he had had somebody to talk to, and work through his misinterpretations of the human condition (viewing wealth as power, unable to consider the feelings of others, blindness to his arrogant sense of superiority; even more problematic as it leads to a further reason as to why he would be rejected) as I have to believe that if he had even one or two extremely close people, who accepted him for who he was (and hopefully improve that person), and a therapist to work with, that perhaps this senseless act could have been avoided; perhaps he may not have been able to integrate as a well-adjusted person if intervention were to occur so late, but hopefully he would have been able to develop enough social skills that he would have been far better able to come with a sense of rejection and isolation. The parents' knowledge of the videos, and their unwillingness to act strongly upon them is definitely the most tragic element of this to me as it makes one think that it could have been stopped, but wasn't, and unfortuantely I would think that the parents are quite guilty as they would likely feel a large sense of responsibility (whether or not they deserve that, I'm not particularly concerned). One thing I'm not fond of is the idea that he was beyond help (" as if [...] timely therapy might have stopped this idiot"), but it's unfortunately too late to know, tragic for all involved.

I think he hated himself and he hated the system he lived in (capitalism). He defined his self-worth through his income/consume/. In his worldview a relationship resembled nothing more than a deal where both partners agreed to trade love for social status and sex. In the end he projected the hate for himself onto others. I could be wrong though.

However I didn't revisit the thread, and the last time I looked at it he was just talking about how he couldn't get a girlfriend so I never saw it progress to the level of him actually talking about murdering someone.

Oh yeah sure the video was the ONLY indication they got. They raised him, they raised him very clearly with the intent of spoiling him. Of course they knew since day 1 he was a incredibly strange. I feel this probably comes close. Again, I think the success of his parents could have magnified these feelings. They were able to attain vast success and he's been able to take advantage of that, but despite being rich by association it's not his success and his inability to have some successes of his own like getting the adulation of women and his peers must have stung. Especially because he thought he possessed all the qualities and resources to easily obtain those.

I certainly agree. His issues ran far deeper than simply a desire for sex and a girlfriend. Were he to achieve them, without some very deep resolution to the issues he faced, there is very little likelihood of a functional relationship. He viewed women and people in a very negative, objectifying manner while displaying a complete lack of understanding in the emotions of others. He certainly needed psychiatric help, and some environment which didn't foster his sense of isolation to assist him in resolving the many major issues he possessed.
Just because you share one thing in common with a creepy person doesn't mean watching their videos will transfer their creepiness onto you. It might actually be beneficial to watch them so that you realise the ridiculousness of being obsessed with getting a partner or getting laid just for the sake of it.
What were they supposed to do in a weeks time? Or what could have they accomplished?

To be fair, I don't think they were saying that lack of sex is an understandable reason to kill, but rather having sex might have curbed some of his more destructive impulses - taken the edge off. Whether or not it would have is another discussion entirely of course (it wouldn't).

Well, this guy made the whole 'friend-zone' 'simping' running gags no longer funny to me. I'm just disturbed. Not saying social media started this kind of thing, but it seems like the kind of thing that would drive a guy like this to these kind of extremes. Seeing these false images of exaggerated happiness that we project on Facebook and Twitter. And the ensuing sense of self-importance might really mess with an anti-social narcissist.

I'm afraid to say it but I'm relating to this guy in nearly every way, we're even the same age. Except I'm not from a rich family.
For me the summer just started and I am feeling extremely lonely. I am having negative spiraling thoughts about the future and constantly worry that I will grow old single and won't be successful. I haven't had any sort of social interaction with people my own age for several months.
This serial killing incident is such a coincidence seeing as I'm at my worst now mentally. I can also finally relate to someone.

Well for one thing, I hope you see the path this guy chose and how it ended for him. This may be evidence that something has to change.
I think one problem our society has is a lot of people get hung up on how others perceive them and use societal standards as a means of evaluating the quality of their own lives. Number of friends, what others think of them, amount of sex you get. If you can relate to the shooter, it seems likely to be the case that you hold the aforementioned items in high regard. What you should be aware of is that a lot of these things don't really matter at all, or at least are incredibly overvalued by modern society.
There's some things that can be worked out logically, for instance, the value of sex. Some people are born with deformed, missing, or "unusable" genitalia. Are these people still capable of living normal, healthy, happy lives? It's not so unreasonable to think so. The thing that gets most people down is that society told them the amount of sex they have is a measure of their manhood and worth so they believe it and end up feeling shitty and worthless when they don't get any. For the most part it's all an illusion.
As for being lonely, generally as you go through life, you are bound to make friends so long as you are actually doing something. Attending classes at school, working at a job, social interaction is inevitable. Even online you can make some friends too. I had a couple of online "cliques" of friends from playing games.
Again though, if you relate to this shooter, just look at how he ended up. You may want to consider researching or looking into how to go about changing your mentality and discarding a lot of messed up societal values that may be in your head.
