I think it looks nice for High, not only that but runs great.

how do you no HUD?

There's also this thing with vram filling up even on a Titan.

Ideally, the more memory, the more it could be used to reduce streaming. So even if you maybe don't need more than 2Gb for the rendering, you can still use a bigger size to cache the extra textures and reduce the loading as you move around. So the game using a lot of memory isn't directly a sign of awful performance.

The problem is that in good game engines the texture streaming happens behind the scenes and is handled so you don't see even a slight FPS hit. In games like Wolfenstein you can notice blurred textures, before the actual normal resolution ones are loaded, but at least you don't get FPS drops.

In Watch Dogs it seems that the wait for texture streaming is HANGING the engine completely. In the sense that it FREEZES until the texture is available. This is laughably bad. So, again, it's not surprising that a Titan doesn't solve the problem.

It is even possible that by the time a Titan needs to load new textures, it built a SO HUGE buffer that suddenly dropping a few GBs of textures can cause some huge performance issues.

So this confirms my theory: high settings on a 2Gb model risks being smoother than a 6Gb model filling up and having to then rebuild all the memory model.

Essentially: the 2Gb would have frequent dips, but lighter. The 6Gb would have rarer dips, but pretty significant in FPS hit.

You know with the way this thing uses Vram im pretty sure they coded the game to just immediately use all available memory and work within that limit.

Once again another game which seems like it will make use of my 4gb video cards. So glad I planned for the future.

I just hope it will play nicely in SLI.

Exactly, why leave VRAM unused if only to stream in later.

Same thing as Windows 7 using more Ram than XP.

Performance wise:
Max 1440p with temp SMAA is playable but has drops into 20s.

Max 1440p with 2xMSAA is barely playable and drops into teens.

Max 1440p with 4xMSAA is unplayable and drops into single digits.

There is no reason why the game would switch out more textures on cards with more VRAM though.

There's also the fact that one of the Pirated copies floating around installs a remote Bitcoin mining program that runs in the background and causes low performance.

:D

Sucks to be a pirate sometimes, lol, but I've no sympathy.

i5 3570k @ 4.2
EVGA 780 SC
16GB Corsair Dominator

Running 1440p, most things on Ultra/High with Vsync.

Got 30-60fps. It would dip close to 30 during car rides. A little surprised given the resolution I'm running, expected worse.

Huh that's pretty much my specs exactly. Turn off vsync for mostly 40+ on the streets 60+ in smaller places.

Turn down textures from ultra to high helps performance too IMO.

I know this is a Watch Dogs thread and take this post with a boatload of salt, but since many people wonder about the Registry Large Page edit, I just played 30 minutes of BF4 with it. It was 64 player on Shanghai and it seems to have reduced the hitches somewhat and no crashes in sight. I'm not saying it's perfectly safe to use based on what I read or even really beneficial but it certainly didn't make things worse for me (so far :p)

Isn't everybody giving first-hand impressions in here admitting piracy? Did GAF-policy change on this??

There are some people that have it legitimately. Retail copies will activate on Uplay, it's not like steam where it locks you out even if you have a disc until the release date.

is there going to be a day 1 patch or driver update for this game. I have been messing with the settings for hours and it is borderline uplayable to me. Terrible screen tearing and frame rate drops. Hoping for a patch that fixes this, here are my specs:

Inter Core i5-3350p CPU @ 3.10GHz
Nividia GeForce GTX 760
8.2 GB RAM
Windows 7 64 bit

Even on low?

To the people asking, I doubt the 2500k is at all dead. Especially if you OC. Don't forget it's competing with netbook cores on consoles.

Even on low? As I posted a couple pages back my friend is using a 550ti with a stock 2500k and it is playable on low/medium albeit with frequent drops into the 20s.

yeah, I have set literally everything to low and it still happens

I have an i7 920 at 3.2gz and a geforce 770 sc edition 4gb. I wonder if it is going to be able to handle watch dogs.

Anyone with a similar system?

That's not spam. His posts are on topic, they're not repetitive and not everybody reads everything thread so crossposting isn't the end of the world.

People weren't complaining about the amount of posts per se. They were pointing out that it's against the rules to so blatantly promote your own external site or channel. While on topic, his posts have basically been giant advertising banners for his youtube channel.

Good to hear. I have the same set up except I'm OC to 4.5 and will only be running at 1080p. Should be butter smooth if I decide to pick it up.
