What kind of frame rates are you getting and did you overclock the 955? I have a 955BE and 7870XT and was wondering if I should get WD.

no over clock but might since i just got a new cooler, thanks for reminding me :p

as for frame rates. really doesn't drop below 40 (i don't actually monitor FPS though so it's a guess but def doesn't feel as low as GTA V does) except when it stutters when i do a 180 in a car.

why does it stutter when i do a 180 in a car like that, my low ram maybe? i've forgotten a lot about pcs over the years, damn consoles.

at least a steady 30 fps close to max settings is what i want.
Pretty sure you'll be fine if you're ok with 30fps

Unless you hit the VRAM limit, a 2GB and a 4GB 770 with the same clockspeed will perform the same if the only difference is higher texture quality.

And while you might not think that the small differences between high and ultra is worth it, plenty of others do.

For me high to ultra might not be a huge difference but what does matter is AA. Right now I'm playing Wolfenstein on the PS4 and even if the settings might be on par with high PC settings the lack of good AA makes some parts of the game just ugly.

What kind of cooling do you have for your CPU?

If you've got a decent cooler I would definitely overclock your processor to at least 3.6 GHz. Your GPU should be more than fine on max settings, but your CPU will probably hinder your performance.

You'll also need at least 6GB of RAM.

It takes up almost all my VRAM on my 4GB 670s...what?=O

So does this mean the 3gb $700 780ti is gonna be bottlenecked by VRAM on next gen games? I'm not saying it's gonna happen but can someone explain?

its a giant aluminum heatsink. some coolermaster thing. I have a fan on it as well.

My 3GB 7970 cries at this. I hope it takes less for 1920x1200.

No. The game makes good use of VRAM. You don't buy VRAM to save it for a rainy day, do you? (well technically you do I guess).
Using all your VRAM effectively = good.

I don't know about bottlenecked, but I think it's fairly obvious that 3GB won't be getting you "Ultra" settings a couple years from now.

I don't like how the frame rate isn't limited. It makes my gpu too hot. In the menus the frame rate goes up to 250+, which is when the temp goes way up.

Ok fellas I have a 2500k @ 4.5 and a 780ti. Getting terrible frame drops usually on cars. Are there any processors with the same socket I could upgrade too that would help?

The game gets quite a lot of drops with i7 4770K as well when driving. So even going to a better socket would help out much. But you have the option for an i7 2600K which you probably could find pretty cheap used now if you really want to upgrade for other games as well.

Not yet. I haven't played much. Just drove around a bit. I read on here somewhere a guy said his was at 99-100%

4 cores on that CPU at 4.5ghz are still pretty good. Big picture advice, think about OC'ing to 4.8-4.9ghz as both my 2500k's got there with no issue as long as you have decent air cooling. The other thing is to consider upgrading to an i7 CPU compatible with you p/z67 board.

VRAM usage you say? It's the GTA IV PC port all over again.

Of course, that did get substantially better with patches.

I have a thermaltake Frio extreme, best I could do was 4.5. But I'm not an expert at ocing

Am I out of luck if I want to run this game on Ultra at 1440p with a EVGA GTX 780 Classified? I'm willing to overclock it and to turn down MSAA if that matters. I've got an i7-4770k and 8 gigs of RAM. The Classified has 3gb of VRAM.

I don't feel the graphics of this game justify how demanding it is to run. The possibility that my R9 290, i5 2500k, and 8GB 2133Mhz RAM may not be able to max this game out in 1440p is pretty bad.

Even compared to the best version of GTA IV, this still is a way better port performance wise. If they could patch/update drivers to fix the random stuttering when driving/turning around and perhaps give us the option to increase draw distance on objects it would be so good.

If the stuttering disappeared and I could drive along the highway without seeing cars materialize 30 meters in front of me then I wouldn't really have any complaints with the game performance or graphics wise.

Depending on the area I get between 50 and 75fps with mostly maxed out settings and temporal SMAA. 680 and i7 4770K.

Yeah, i didn't expect my 750ti to play it very well, but i expected more out of this than its current state.

ac3 looks better and runs better. sleeping dogs is older and looks better more often than watch dogs, though watch dogs rarely looks great, it's usually during night sequences. the lighting is so flat and washed out during the day.

You won't even hit a solid 60 fps on 1080p let alone 1440p. You can run it sure but the framerate won't be to your liking.

Going to buy this if it runs well, thanks for the demo Ubi... ugh :(

i5 2500K CPU
4GB Ram
6950 2GB GPU

trying to run at 1080

What do you reckon? Not fussed with 30fps, not fussed with lower settings.

Like, would I even be able to hit 30fps (with AA off)? How does gaming at 1080p look like on a 1440p monitor? If it came between playing on high at 1440p or ultra at 1080p, what would I be better off doing? Man this game is so intensive. According to benchmarks, I can run Crysis 3 on very high at 45 frames per second with FXAA on a 1440p monitor. Watch_Dogs must be quite the power-hoarder, lol.

It's more a memory issue than anything else. Your average FPS at 1440p with everything maxed would probably be close to 45 if you didn't have to worry about VRAM.

As for which looks better, I have no idea. I would probably go with high textures @ 1440p simply because it's the native res.

Assuming the game has controller support, in tempted to get it for PC.

Gtx760 4gb
8gb ddr2
965be @ 3.6
and can do 3.8 but I'd need to change out my cooler.

My CRT TV does 1840x1035 progressive scan, but 1600x900 is OK with me.

I'd even settle for 720p if I can get 60fps on mostly high settings.

I have a 7970 and I was getting around 2-2.5GB VRAM usage on 1920x1080. The texture settings specify what amount of VRAM you would need for each mode (e.g. high requires 2GBs, ultra requires 3GBs) so you should be fine on high/maybe ultra.

So for those with a 2500k - I have never OC'd my PC before and I'm interested in doing it now, especially for this game. Any tips on how to go about doing this? Thank you! >.<

If you know your motherboard model number, you should just be able to search for that + '2500k over-clocking' to find what you're looking for. The BIOS might be overwhelming at first but you shouldn't need to change much (depending on what sort of over-clock you're looking for, I got my 2500k to 4.2GHz through only changing the ratio). Try and refrain from using software to overclock - that shit can cause instability.

You'll be fine. I've been using my DS4

I have an AMD Phenom II X4 960T (which just meets the minimum CPU requirements), 8GB of RAM and a 2GB GTX 660. I have the game running on High at 1080p. Framerate goes between 45FPS and 30FPS. I talked to one of the people who worked at Ubisoft and developed on the game, his twitter handle is @SebViard. Apparently there "a lot of optimization" taking place in the game because Watch Dogs takes advantage of the 8 core CPU that lies in the PS4 and XBO. So if the PC player wants to get the best experience of the game, an 8 core CPU would take the cake.

I asked him if one of the reasons for the Wii U version was being dropped because of the CPU power and never got a response.

I'd be interested to hear more comments on the "i5 2500k is dead" issue. As a owner of a 2500k this is kind of upsetting. So, more opinions please?

Pretty sure a high OC, like 4.5/4.6GHz would be able to hold up its own assuming you got enough gpu power and vram.
Either way, for the way this game looks at Ultra, it shouldnt require more than a high end quad and mid end gpu. Textures on Ultra are a joke for 3GB vram usage.
