What could ever cause these derangement. Jesus. The thing is, from the outside, I'm as baffled as he was by his lack of "game" (He had it all) so I guess he was very, very, very wrong on the inside. Sadly parents always think you're going through hadrd times and that you could go on by yourself and sometimes needed proffessional aid is denied.

Damn IT! :(

These guys deserved so much more than that.

All three victims were identified as UC Santa Barbara students. According to their Facebook pages, Hong was a 2012 graduate of Lynbrook High School and was studying computer engineering. Chen graduated the same year from Leland High and had been a camp counselor for the YMCA. Wang was briefly a student at American High School in Fremont before he transferred to a private school, according to James Morris, superintendent of the Fremont Unified School District.

According to an unconfirmed report that quoted "family friends," at least one of the murdered men was just days from moving out of the apartment. The sheriff revealed during a news conference Saturday that in January, Rodger accused Hong of stealing $22 worth of candles from him. Rodger took the unusual step of making a citizen's arrest for petty theft and contacted sheriff's deputies, who arrested Hong. He was booked and released, but the two men evidently continued living together.

Those Santa Barbara cops should rot in hell for complying to a "citizen's arrest" and not even watching the videos, which were what led 7 cops into a suicide call and disregarding Rodger because "he was shy and innocent".

This is bothering me a lot...

Unfortunately, his parents tried to assist him in numerous ways, repeatedly, and professional aid had been sought, repeatedly (from age 13 at the very least, possibly earlier), as well as the police, but it was all in vain.

His targeting was birthed from his views on women. His entire thesis is about how humanity as a whole kept him in perpetual virginity. Women were the enemy and men who were with women/have had sex were the enemy. Both were like insults to him and both drew his ire.

It was everyone because of his views of women. He was bitter and jealous towards other men due to women while also viewing women as objects that should desire him are owe him.

And his views on women was birthed from his inferiority complex, just like his views on race. If it wasn't his views on women, he would have used his views on race to target the very same people he targeted now.

Where is your proof that he would have targeted minorities if he didn't hold the toxic view towards women?

There's no doubt he was racist but his basis for acting this way was all because of how he viewed women. Even his racism usually involved why women would date minorities so it was still about his feelings of entitlement towards women.

I dont think MRA groups are radical, but not tying Rodger's misogyny to the crime he committed is intellectually dishonest. He paints these groups in a bad light, however good intentioned they may be or not be. I dont know, I'm not active on those communities.

I was mainly commenting on the narrative that several sites and people are giving that paints the entire MRA movement in a bad light. It's very much the same as conservatives painting a broad brush about Muslims because of the extremists.

This guy's misogynistic views should definitely be a part of the conversation, but it looks like there are deep issues with his mindset that go beyond that.

When a white supremacist murders blacks or Jews, no one doubts that his murders are driven by his hateful, bigoted ideology. When homophobes attack a gay youth, we rightly label this a hate crime.

But when a man filled to overflowing with hatred of women acts upon this hatred and launches a killing spree targeting women, many people find it hard to accept that his violence has anything to do with his misogyny. They’re quick to blame it on practically anything else they can think of – guns, video games, mental illness – though none of these things in themselves would explain why a killer would target women.

This is a quote from the article Mumei posted a few pages ago. It's amazing to me that this guy posted videos, left a trail of forum posts, and a 140 page manifesto revealing in great detail his feelings about women, and yet we are debating how much his misogyny fueled his killing spree. Yes, he was narcissistic and insecure. But where did he focus that negativity? Women, and the men who they fucked. He had racial disdain for others but his venom was always stemming from his views about women.

And yes, he killed men but as was already posted, it was Phase 1. He killed his roommates so that he could have the apartment to himself for when he lured women to his apartment to torture them slowly. He explains this in great detail.

Honestly it seems to say a lot more about incels than MRA, but there is some overlap in the way these groups huddle online and the rhetoric that they reinforce (namely, about women and feminists)

Really fucking lame people are acting like misogyny/racism just organically filters into the mind of the mentally ill. This thread is disgusting.

yea very sad....

His targeting was more or less everyone.

But the fact is that he murdered these women because he clearly wanted to. If he had killed all their boyfriends, we'd be talking about that.

But we're not.

I don't get what you're trying to say here, because his hatred of women had everything to do with this crime.

This is a very extreme case but there is a definite issue with some men feeling invisible in society. I think that may be one factor behind misogynistic attitudes.

So, a guy that hated Asians lived with Asians? Why? Almost makes it seem like it also fit into his plan, like he chose them to live with in order to murder them later.

The documentary someone posted ITT (Shy Guys IRL) really shows how much overlap these communities would have with one another.

It's not unreasoable for someone who feels that they're undesireable to get hung up on being in multiple communities and have other people reinforce your thoughts.

Scummy tabloids have no shame.

Reading this made me remember of my date this saturday. Is there a dating thread here? I would really like ask gaf something
Pretty inappropriate posting this here. You can go to Google to find said thread.

Freaking terrible :(

Reading this guys manifesto and wow , he sure cried a lot.
He was also insane.

The part where he gets into an argument with his roommates, then runs to his room and punches the wall while crying was one of the most cringeworthy things I've ever read.

I wish the roommates were alive. They would've given us the greatest perspective on who this guy really was. They'd be able to tell us if anything in this manifesto was legitimate.

The parents are going to keep hiding behind their lawyers.

... you're joking. You must be.

I hope you keep laughing behind the ban you'll get for your "innocence".

......What?

I'm curious what you want to ask because if this is reminding you of your date, it's probably not a good thing you're going to ask.

Even if it is a good thing, this is such an inappropriate thread to say this in.

While I very much wish the roomates were alive (and, indeed, the other victims, if only he had been stopped in time), (EDIT: To clarify, I don't mean I wish they were alive just for perspective on him, I am trying to say that as far as 'for perspective on Elliot' goes) for perspective on him (and the legitimacy of some of the things in the manifesto, and how much of it was complete delusion), I think James Ellis, and Addison would be able to provide some of the greatest insight (James in particular) given how long they knew him, and how he opened up with them. For their sake though, they really shouldn't comment, lest they be devoured by a media frenzy (as that poor woman in the Daily Mail suggests would happen).

Man, I just can't, I just can't.

He's good looking, he's coming from a well-established family, has loving parents if his manifesto is any indication, well-fed and economically rich, living a good lifestyle with all of his fancy glasses, BMW, or what-have-you...

If only he'd just try it the normal way, the sane way, I am positive he can find someone that he can be with. I mean, gosh Almighty, barring his obvious mental sickness, he is sitting in a position many, many, many people would find they envious of.

I think this is a pretty important point. The fact that he realized he had all of these advantages and still couldn't get girls only enraged him further.

He clearly was unable to grasp that woman are human beings and owed him nothing.

The entitlement was strong in this one.

In his manifesto he never even described one instance where he actually tried to strike up a normal conversation with a girl. He was a gentleman and good guy and therefor girls should flock to him. But they didn't...and in his fucked up mind he was being 'rejected'.

I think there was something about him getting dressed up and just walking around, hoping for some attention.

His previous roommates are still alive. He lived with at least 4-5 other people during his time at Isla Vista, including the two hispanic guys who he picked a fight with on day one (they were the ones that heard him crying in his room).

Also the guy he put on citizen's arrest for stealing three candles.

Yes and that works for almost nobody. This guy failed to grasp the fact that girls are (surprise surprise) human beings, with feelings and flaws like all of us and to have any kind of relationship, friendly or romantic, starts with normal interaction between humans

There are a lot of women who feel invisible as well... I think it's important to remember that when people talk about how much "power" women have over men, they are only ever talking about a small subset of them.
