Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

So are the people on the invite list legit? Are they considered the best of the best? I don't have a clue of the competitive scene so please excuse my ignorance.
Most of the guys on the list are top level. The girls should all be decent enough to hold their own in a new game without much experience.

Da fuq? Having Asperger's myself, this hits a little close to home.

If true, given the vomit story/anecdote above I guess I could understand. Shame though since he's one of the biggest faces of the scene.

Ehhh if that one is not real there are plenty others too..

I wouldn't be surprised if Mew2King is not invited because all of the stuff that happened recently, in particular revealing part of his contract with CT and EMP and how much he is getting paid (you dont do this, period) and all the drama that came with it.

My favorite are the masturbation horror stories.

...I need to grow up. >_>

If real, my question is why not Hungrybox?
Like PP he doesn't have any issues to deal with.

Isn't he missing a tournament soon because of an internship in Arizona? Not sure if it's SKTAR or what, but since E3 is during the week that seems like a totally valid reason to miss.

Plus, we don't know Nintendo's reasoning for their picks anyway.

Overall, I'm satisfied with that rumored selection. It's not ideal, but since it's a whole new game they only need a strong working knowledge anyway, which they all seem to have. I'm pretty hyped to watch (if true).

Well, they would have to deal with all the salt..

But seriously, maybe some of them just cant make it. Also, I wonder how they will deal with the fact some of this guys are sponsored, would they call the name of the sponsors too?

So, with the new Pushmo game coming out (which apparently is super popular in Japan), what are the odds of a character from that showing up in Smash, playable or otherwise? I'm not really familiar with the series, so I don't know if there would even be playable character material there.

Yeah I could easily see M2K not making it in. I knew some of the things regarding him but not everything I just looked up.

I say let him be a Smash king elsewhere.

I would bet on an assist trophy. No way he's playable.

The emp stuff?

Or just him ?

I am not up on everything he has done, I just know some people find him annoying.

Maybe I'm being narrow-minded, but I literally cannot fathom how Mallo could possibly be represented as a fighting character. His skillset is literally only pushing and pulling blocks. I just can't see how they can get anything compelling out of that.

A Pushmo stage would be fucking amazing, though.

I'm not sure what emp means. But maybe I can answer anyway.

I heard about the Japan trip but I just read about him(if my understanding is correct) throwing games and splitting the prize money with the winner and few other similar incidents. I can't stand that kind of thing. If he's not in good riddance to bad rubbish.

I can't imagine

being playable either!

j/k Anna would be cool

Well, there's this:
“well-publicized”
“particularly criticized”
“some observers claimed”

Holy shit. Is it wrong that I find this absolutely hilarious for all the wrong reasons? It’s written like it’s some kind of international incident. Smash Bros. — serious business.

Huh. I guess I learned some things tonight? Still not super sure what to make of all this but I guess we'll see how it play out in the next few weeks.

So I finally tried out Yoshi's Island DS after much curiosity due to the release of the 3DS one. It's been really cool to see where all of his SSB attacks and what not come from.
The game is also really fun. I regret not picking it up sooner.

Ah collusion , well spooky wasn't there to set things right.

As far as EMP goes, from what I a understand its a group of fighting game people some type company or what not, gets sponsers that kind of thing. Who, from what I understand aren't exactly on the up and and up and may have forced M2K into some deals he does not want to be in, a long with weird things involving player payouts.

Mallo would fit in fine, I think. I mean, he won't be in, but he's a sumo wrestler in a sumo game, I doubt it would be hard to give him a moveset.

Nonsense, Mallo would be an easy character to make a unique moveset for, especially since he's based on a sumo wrestler. Such a fighting style would actually make him quite unique as a character, acting as the Japanese foil to the Western boxer, Little Mac.

He is also a cat.

The stuff about M2K throwing matches and splitting winnings isn't really relevant to this invitational, though, since there's no money on the line (right?)

Excellent game. Some of those secret stages are crazy difficult, though.

All Captain Falcon ever did is drive a car. I not saying Mallo will or should get in but Sakurai is a very imaginative individual and probably could come up with a moveset for any character.

And yes a Pushmo stage would be great!

Plus it was so many years ago, and there are more recent stories about him rejecting this to the very same players that "presured" (acording to him) to do it long ago.

I mean it's still pretty terrible. He's kind of a terrible person, if I were Nintendo I wouldn't want him anywhere near my event, even without the futon story.

I think he came out and said that a lot of people like chillin and chu manipulated him into pot splitting so he could stay friends with them.

Edit:I'm pretty sure Ken and maybe 1 or 2 others on that list also pot split before.

That is also Lolo's skill set.

So at what time are you guys planning to go to the Smash Bros thing at Best Buy to secure a coin? And is the coin only being given out on Wednesday or are they going to have another 70 to give out on Saturday?

Spliting is not bad in itself, it can help some players to get some extra money to get to the next tournament, Ken (yes, the one is on the list) said on the documentary that he and his teammate Isai used to split the money all the time to travel to the next tournament.

The problem with splitting comes from boring matches, when the players are spliting they tend to not try and this makes for boring matches that the audience hates, no one wants to see that and the TOs and Sponsors get pissed. If they just played to win, no one would even question if or why are they pot splittng. No one would know.

I'm just glad Nintendo's not really homophobic, and I guess we can't talk about digimon here no more.

I dont even understand how that would come up at all, like no one would find out anyways unless he tells to the stream. It's irrelevant.
