Aksys Games announces Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN (PS3/PS4) for NA

Just buy a new Pcb, and mod it. Not very hard, and the Ps360+ is solder free for those that are not experience enough.
Fixed sentence.

to clarify I want something that will work on PS3 and PS4. I'm planning to get a PS4 for Xrd, but I want a PS3 stick right now.

I'm not against building my own, hell I built a 4 player panel for a MAME cabinet last year. But the last time I checked (a few months ago) nothing offered compatibility with the old consoles and PS4.

no i am not aware. maybe it will be in an update. i know akishop promised a ps4-capable update to their PS360+ board.

& they say the update is working for them & testers, so hopefully coming soon.

This is easy (unless you're modding a fighting edge) - http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=113882929&postcount=93 (short summary: Akishop has a working update to add PS4 compatibility to the PS360+, we're just waiting on general release).

I don't want to be the guy forcing modding on people but it's really easy with a lot of great resources out there on FocusAttack & SRK. (not directed at you since if you've already built a panel this will be a breeze)

I'm afraid, because Persona 4 Arena was region locked and my PS4 is European =(

Nope P4A was region locked to avoid reverse importing since they left the ability to play the game completely in Japanese. Also it was the only ps3 title to do that. This will almost certainly be region free.

To my knowledge, Persona 4 Arena is the only region-locked Playstation 3 game. No other games -- from Arc System Works or anyone else -- are region-locked. There is no reason to believe that Guilty Gear will be the second exception.

P4U and GGXrd being released so close to each other is going to hurt them a lot.

I was actually hoping for GGXrd to get released in the West in late 2014 or early 2015, so P4U gets its chance at the spotlight.

Let's face it: there's really only room for a single Arc System Works fighting game at a time outside of Japan. Having two games at once will split up the playerbase to a point where they'll probably both die pretty quick.

Eh, normally I'd agree, especially if there was a Blazblue game involved, but there's plenty of Persona fans that bought P4A for the story mode and characters, even in America, so they'll probably be all over the sequel, even if the FGC gravitates towards Guilty Gear. You can't kill the metal, the metal will live on.

Were the BB games region locked?

p4a is region locked because of atlus. No other ASW game is region locked.

Hoping for this as well.

Yeah, hope you are all right! =D

I'd expect any new sticks for PS4 to coincide with Ultra when it makes the jump, but I find it hard to believe that ASW or Capcom would forsake existing players to sell a few more sticks.

Looking forward to a whole new generation of Bridget confusion.

Disagree. P4AU will do well no matter what because of the brand associated with it and its story. A lot of P4AU's success was because of its approachability to newcomers of the genre and casual players, as well as because it's Persona, among other factors.

Guilty Gear Xrd will probably do well despite P4AU because it's a Guilty Gear sequel and a high profile fighting game in the competitive FGC. Plus, it's one of the most gorgeous games out there, it's a new fighting game on current gen. platforms and all that stuff.

What this will impact is their popularity in competitive play (seems like it'll negatively affect P4AU the most), but they will both do well despite the fact they're both releasing this fall because they both have their own dedicated fanbases, with some overlap between them which will be getting both anyways.

Yes!!!! After an entire console generation has gone by without a new entry (Overture & GGAC+R don't count) I get to finally RIDE THE LIGHTNING! again.

Guilty Gear isn't dying quick anywhere.

Just looked at the character list and where the eff are all the characters?

No Baiken
No Johnny
No Dizzy

All the GGX characters should be the minimum.

I guess they're going to DLC us to death where if you buy the original and all the DLC characters it'll cost like 200 bucks. (How much were the BB characters?)

or

you can wait for GG Xrd Sign Slash Advent Core+ and get them all for 19.99.

But honestly, this time it isn't so bad. It'll come, and the systems are region free anyway.

Funny thing is, if you import the game from VideoGamesPlus day of release, it'll probably end up cheaper than it would buying the game anywhere here in the UK. The PS4 version anyway.

Bro, fighting game characters aren't cheap. It's not like all they have to do is copy and paste the sprites from the older games. They have to completely remake all the models to fit in the new 3D engine (or old I guess considering it's running on Unreal 3) along with all the animation and voice work involved in bringing a fighting game character to life. Of course then there's the balancing.

14 is plenty for launch.

The BB characters were something like $8 I believe, not too sure.

By the way, IGN's article says "15 playable characters", but there are 14 in the arcade version.
Hoping for Baiken, expecting Sin Kiske, will laugh if Fanny, will cry if Anji.

Mmmm I would be more compelled to get this sooner if I could use my PS3 fightstick on PS4, but as of now I probably wait until it's cheaper.

Id bet they announce some more characters for the console release and update the arcade version afterwards. Similar to BBCP.

Good point. Wonder if it'll be that Q looking guy in the opening vid?

Also, super happy it's fall this year. Would've guessed spring because of P4A2.

Now Sony needs to stop being dicks and allow PS3 sticks on PS4. I refuse to buy a new stick for PS4. It's all just fucking USB, with no encryption or any other kind of shenanigans. There's literally no technical reason whatsoever to lock them out.

Moneyhats are a technicality, y'know.

From the IGN article,

"Arc System Work's beautiful 2D art and animations will again be a focal point of the game"

No one tell him.

With the way they ArcSys handles game updates/sequels, I'd honestly rather wait until Spring for an initial release with a bigger cast. If it was KI-style, a smaller cast would not bother me as much.

It's probably Sin. He's go a completed character model in the cutscenes, right?

That would be really cool, actually. I can see them holding out one last character reveal. Now get on Baiken, dammit Arc Sys. ...you don't even need to model two arms - make it so!
