Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

First I felt excitement then I felt the fear setting in.

Need to first find out if this is actually a product and not a tournament only deal.

Then we need to see if this is an actual GCN controller or one by that PDP company. I have fear that it's by PDP and licensed to use the smash logo. Unless Nintendo straight up gave them the ability to make GCN controllers like Nintendo did, I'll have doubts on the quality of the product.

And then if it's not by PDP, I wonder how well the supply is going to be coming from Nintendo. PDP can probably make more than enough, I have my doubts Nintendo could though.

The first 2 we can find out pretty easily. Then I just need to take off a ton of days in December and sit in line at stores 24/7 until I have 4 of them.
I may be a little too hyped.
I don't think they would have tweeted this if not for an intention to sell it: https://twitter.com/NintendoAmerica/status/472076848382607361

But I am confused by all the people who no longer have their GC controllers and are really worried they won't be making new ones.

Why was the GC controller so integral to your Smash experience that you were willing to buy a new Smash Bros. game but not willing to keep your controllers

I feel a bit better now. Still worried about the supply.

And we need new ones because all the older ones are pretty broken/worn out- at least all the ones I have. It probably would not have mattered so much had we not been able to use it for Brawl. But that's 10+ years of using it for a series. It's pretty much a staple at this point.

Nothing is wrong with my GCN controllers, but I didn't get the cord extended ones they released for Brawl and I like how the new controller has a Smash logo, it looks really nice.

Exactly. I don't understand you people. Smash Bros is my favourite game of all time and I can't imagine playing it with anything else. I even bought the japanese White GC Controller to have a brand new pad to play Brawl. Really happy I'll play Smash Bros WiiU with it too;

Gamecube adapter? I bought a Pro Controller for nothing. And when the inevitable Smash Bros. Wii U Bundle is released with all its extra goodies and I'm sitting at home salty because I already own a Wii U, I'll have bought a Wii U early for nothing. Moral of the story: Never buy things.

You have NO idea how hype I was to get my white controller for Brawl when my veteran platinum controller (bestest looking controller ever) gave out. The fun part? After recently looking at them internally, I cleaned the white (now a 6 year old veteran) and my platinum one (at 10 years old my God) started working like a charm again .

The profiles a great fun, but whoever worked on them needs to work on consistency. There's useless information like Team affiliation as like only 2 people opted to answer. The quote section is odd since there was no source for Rapture's quote yet they apparently self-quoted for anyone that didn't provide a source.

Personally speaking, I only ever had three Gamecube controllers: The bundled controller, another controller made by Madcatz, and a used Wavebird. I still have the former two, but they're not in good condition.

Perhaps I'd like to replace them, although I'm not even thinking about that yet.

Oh and in other goodlinewiness guess what game has beaten its entrants record number from the same tournament as last year?... (Assuming this wasn't posted already as it was announced earlier today before the Invitational news)

Evo 2014 #smashbros registrations, just passed our 2013 # of regs! There's still time to add your name to the pile. http://evo.shoryuken.com/registration/

Pre-reg numbers for EVO 2013 were 696 for Melee, but it passed over 700 with at-the-door sign-ups (I think 706?) So that means EVO 2014 Melee is tracking for at least 1,000 players...!

Edit: Wait, I thought both PewPewU and Ken love playing with Marth? They are even having a money match at e3 (loser pays dinner) and both will play Marth.
Edit2: Oh you mean outside smash. Alright

Dr.PP's two Nintendo games are the two best nintendo games. No wonder he won Apex 2014.

Yeah all my controllers broke in different, fun ways. Sticky/flimsy buttons, unresponsive control sticks, rubber falling off, etc.
