I feel like if we are going to get HD GCN games they will take advantage of the gamepad, GCN VC is much more likely in my opinion.
That was enjoyable.
Also just finished watching the Smash Bros documentary and my hype levels are too damn high.

Just woke up and WOW, did I choose a bad time to take a nap.
- Looks like Nintendo actually delivered and gave us a decent cast of competitors for this tourny. I'm suprised.
- ...but LOF'NL at that ruleset. I mean, I understand that they don't have that much time, and that they want to show off as much of the game as possible, but it still seems kinda stupid to invite all these competitve players and have them do 4-player items-on matches. At that point, I'd kinda rather have Egoraptor, Pewdiepie, DSP, etc, 'cause at least then it'd be fun in the way a trainwreck is fun to watch.

- It's funny. If they announced the GCN Adapter a week ago, I would have been beyond hyped, but I just spent the past couple of days relearning Smash with a Classic Controller because I thought I had no other choice, so my reaction was basically "All that work I did for nothing. Fuck you, Nintendo." Still, glad that Nintendo is letting us play the next Smash game with the greatest video game controller EVER!!! and I hope that we get more games that support it.

If they only allow the GamePad, Pro Controller, Classic Controller and GCN... the GamePad, CC, and Pro Controller can just have the extra shoulder buttons be used for lightshielding.
However, if they allow the lone Wiimote and Wiimote + Nunchuk combo again... lightshielding won't be in the game at all.
It's not a completely necessary mechanic but it DID add to the defense game in Melee. It was especially disappointing they even removed powershield reflect for projectiles.

I just don't understand why M2K wasn't invited. Like, if you're going to invite ANY Smash player, it would have to be M2K. It's not a bad list of players or anything, and the tournament is going to be more silly than anything serious because of that godawful ruleset, but...
Still, any issues with the tournament I may have are overshadowed by how great it is that we'll be able to have a wired controller on the Wii U now.

I really like the Pro Controller, best one since the GC. And I was kind of looking forward to a new feeling of playing Smash. But... If the GC is controller is an option, there's no way I'm not using it

He's a PR nightmare. He's socially awkward so he doesn't understand certain social situations that other people would. He's gotten better over the years (especially nowadays) but you never know what can happen. Also, he's extremely brutally honest and blunt in his interviews so if he was ever asked on-stream about Smash 4 (if the players are given a chance to speak after playing or anything) he would likely not hold anything negative he has to say back on the mic. And that would not be good for Nintendo.
Also, he isn't the most... 'clean' looking Smasher. They clearly wanted people who could represent their product (Smash 4) well and M2K isn't exactly... the best for that even if he is dedicated to the franchise competitively.
To be fair, he has improved significantly since then.

My theory is that it's a twitch-related thing. Most of the invitees are streamers themselves. The tournament is being streamed on Twitch's main channel, so I think they might've had some influence on the selection.

These days? Yes, absolutely.
Edit: Well, I dunno. Ken is a fan favorite for being an old champion. But M2K is certainly seen more often on tournament streams and anywhere near finals.

I've never understood the community's obsession with M2K. I've been following the scene for years and he just comes off as a creepy diva. The smash subreddit treats him like a demi-god, doing shit like posting his drawings he made as a kid and treating them like some ancient papyrus relic.

Being in the position of knowing nothing of the competitive Smash community, reading these horror stories about him would make me never want to invite him to any event ever, especially when you're a big name in the industry and doubly especially when you're doing an event at the industry's biggest trade show. It might be unfair but it seems like it could be a disaster in the making.

I wish I could be super good at Smash Bros. I started to get competitive with Brawl but real life just took up more and more time. If I became a Smash sensation I would be adored by all. My rugged good looks and charming demeanor would win over everyones heart. I'd certainly never fling ship at anyone. Well hopefully not.
