It's important to note that every single one of the contestants is helpless against final smashes and will freeze up completely if someone accidentally gets one.

No, but an immediate activation could net 3+ kills easily for most characters. That makes a huge difference.

With this ruleset the tournament would be more fun if every contestant just throwed a dice!

I'm fine with items on. Shows more of the game that I want to see anyway. Grand Finals will be competitive style (4 stock, 8 minutes, on Battlefield with no items). It's a pretty safe bet that if the Marth player gets to GF that he'll most likely take the tournament simply because of how favored he is on that map.
Unless of course the platforms have been spaced differently on the y axis so that Marth doesn't get a guaranteed tipper.
I'm curious about Olimar's Final Smash. I thought End of Day represented Pikmin really well, but the new Hocotate Bomb item makes it somewhat redundant.
The only two semi-plausible replacements I can think of are Rock Pikmin and
, but neither of them make much sense. Purple Pikmin are stronger than Rock Pikmin, so why would the weaker of the two be relegated to a Final Smash?

Oh OK, I dunno why I thought it was a 3 day major.
I actually haven't played one online match as yet. I've been going nuts playing locally with my four siblings (one on rotation every race). We burned through Grand Prix unlocking all the courses and a few of the characters. We've also established rivalries (CPU Roy Koopa and Waluigi hate me, my brother's demon is CPU Koopa Troopa, and my sisters have Bowser, Luigi and Pink Gold Peach to deal with).
It's a blast. :lol

I dunno, but his old one would definitely be redundant.
I bet Zero Suit will just have the crystal flash and not transform since it is easier than making up a new one.

It is also impossible to win consistently at games with high variance.

On top of that having a really weak aerial game and having a ton of recovery frames on his moves makes me think he'll be absolutely crushed by anyone who can use a shield.

I want them to exploit anything as they can so they can take a note for balance before the games went gold. I know it's pretty low chance of it happening but I'm going to wish for it.
In Brawl, if you get killed too often, you get a Pity Final Smash.
