SCEA should take down the NicoNico app for Vita. It's been abandoned, and now backend updates have finally broken it.
Glad I grabbed the JP one on my NA account when region switching wasn't as locked down. Sucks they've never updated Toro's Friend Garden either. The Japanese version recently got Toukiden and God Eater 2 events and items.

Finally done with Final Fantasy X HD. Perfect on Vita.

Got the platinum but I have to say I'm a bit disappointed with the TONS of extra stuff to do for the true completionist but that have no trophies. But still, I maxed all celestials, fully reengineered the Sphere Grid, grinded Luck and an insane amount of Fortune spheres (more than 400) for hours to max Luck for all characters, I customized different sets of armor with Ribbon, etc. Had a lot more fun than I expected to with Blitzball. Made me wish for a more polished, standalone BB game from Square.

Will start FFX-2 in a couple of weeks.

Now FFXII. Make it happen SQEX!

Don't you put that evil on me! I'm fine doing a lot of things, but some of the more tedious things that you were able to accomplish such as maxing Luck are not things you should ask the average trophy hunter to do! Not sure they would want to make a game where only 0.001% of people get the platinum!

That said, your file is what my PS2 FFX file looks like, so I can't really say much...

Edit: Also, get all your guys to sphere level 99! My OCD is killing me about that.

I actually did get a bad ending at that point. I came online and learned of how much game is missed if it ends there. I then proceeded to load my save and continue on the good path. Right now I'm about to enter the TV to chase
Adachi.

Yep, I was in the same boat too, but Gaf helped me fix that :D....thank god I had an extra save made :l.
For Adachi's dungeon, go down the in the hole in the ground on the second floor, you can only progress in that room if you beat a sub-boss on a latter floor....its an annoying dungeon X(.
Hope this helps :). The boss isn't that bad though if your party is high leveled and if your playing on Easy (well, that's what my team was during my two playthroughs :)).

So, I decided to download the free Ace Combat game. I did a general search for Ace Combat, and noticed that Ace Combat Joint Assault was still $34.99..

How the hell hasn't this game ever dropped in price?
How is it possible that it cost more than the recent Assault Horizon?

It's about time Sony had a talk with Namco about this craziness.

That's impressive. How long did it take?

Thanks!

It's on the first pic. About 216 hours. :)

I know. It really is a huge grind, but I honestly had an insane amount of fun with it. The grinding and maxing parts felt like playing a completely new game on its own. Except for those f**** birds crashing deliberately against you during the Chocobo race though. I want to hurt someone for that.

You are totally right! Done!

Damn I love that game! Fuck the other Grandia's though.

I never played Grandia
(don't kill me pls)
. But I already bought it and I'm ready to give it a go as soon as I am done with FFX-2. I hear a lot of people saying that it's the only game that provides a similar sense of adventure than Skies of Arcadia
- we will never get a remaster of that one, right? :( -
so I'm looking forward to it.

Hey guys! I'm considering what game to play next and I'd like to hear your opinions on a number of candidates. I'm kinda curious to play a japanese strategy RPG (never played one of those before), so I'm considering any of these four:

Final Fantasy Tactics
Disgaea 3
SMT: Devil Survivor Overclocked
Valkyria Chronicles

I'm kinda leaning towards crossing VC off the list, since I just know I'll play so much more if the game is on a handheld. (I do prefer to play on my Vita over playing on my 3DS, although the right 3DS/DS game makes me forget how much less friendly the 3DS is.) What say you, GAF? Is any of these games preferable for a newcomer to the genre?
I'll also throw in Final Fantasy X HD in the mix (I know it's not a SRPG) just to make things more difficult for all of us. :)

VC is a fantastic game, but man it's hard. Probably not a good pick for a first japanese SRPG.

I gotta pick it back up one of these days, but I stopped at the infamous mission 7... Just thinking about it makes me anxious.

Have you considered Tactics Ogre? It's an amazing SRPG.

I'd go with Disgaea 3 out of these four. It's much more approachable in comparison to the rest. FF:T has some potentially game breaking moments (you have to keep several simultaneous save slots, as the game asks you to save at certain plot points, after which it throws you right into very difficult missions. If you overwrite your sole save slot and your team is not prepared, you can pretty much start from the beginning).

Devil Survivor is generally tough as shit and at times feels more like a puzzle game, than a proper strategy. Not to mention the spell and skill names are entirely different from what you're used to in western games. Agi for fire, bufu for ice, zio for electric, and there's a crapload of these etc. It does make a lot of sense and is deeply rooted in the whole mythological context, but it certainly isn't intuitive for a newcomer. Though the plot is absolutely awesome, I love it. Same goes for FF:T. I personally think it's as close to a proper Game of Thrones vibe in terms of story as games ever got.
I never got around to playing VC, but from what I gather it also isn't the forgiving kind.

So, either Disgaea 3 if you're into sRPGs or FFX if you want the more traditional experience. Also, since you have a 3DS I cannot recommend Fire Emblem: Awakening enough. This one is a real gem, worth absolutely every penny.

Have you considered Tactics Ogre? It's an amazing SRPG.

Also this. Tactics Ogre is widely considered to be the best sRPG evar. I'm not that well versed in the jRPG arcana to make a definitive statement, but it most certainly is one of the very, very best.

Also, Joanne D'Arc comes to mind. Very pretty, very fun and it also has a nice story. If you have a PS3 to transfer it from, that is. Stupid Sony and their stupid, arbitrary policies.

None of the SRPGs you mentioned are very suited for newcomers to the genre. Disgaea 3 is probably be the easiest in difficulty out of the games you mentioned, but there are so many mechanics in the Disgaea games that you might become overwhelmed.

Agreed, FE:A would probably be the best option.

Agreed, FE:A would probably be the best option.

I know this is the PSN thread but I can't agree enough. FE:A was my personal game of the year last year and one of my favorite games of all time. And actually one of the few examples of a japanese game where the voice acting in english was phenomenal and totally non immersion breaking.

Hell, I played fully through the game three times!
Tharja, Anna, and Nowi all needed a chance with MU!
Sorry if you already played this and I am echoing the recommendations for no reason!

I have a little problem. Currently playing the digital version of Tools of Destruction and the game freezes a lot in the Ublik Passage. Never froze in any other part of the game before but in the Ublik Passage I had four freezes now. One time when fighting the first Rogue, two times when fighting the electrified space pirates after the second Rogue and one time during the Captain Slag boss battle.

Anyone know if the disc version was prone to freezes in that particular area too? Is there a way to fix this? Anyone who has the same problems?

Frontier on Vita is exactly how it is on other platforms. They updated the official site today, as the game launches in August.

It looks like Vita users will share servers with those on PC and PS3.

Unless you live in Japan, I really don't know why you'd import it. The other versions used IP checks and blocked anyone outside of Japan.

I want to play the PC version in america with good graphics, not this mobile crap :(

Anyways:

Which Atelier game should I get for the vita?

I just updated the Playstation Store to version 1.09 on my PS3 (EU) and now it refuses to load up, telling me that there was an unspecified error and to restart the application. Doing so yields nothing, same as reinstalling the store application.

Looking at the official PS forums, it seems like some other people have been having the same problem after this recent patch.

Has someone here been affected by this? Or did you have no issues following this update?

Persona 5 releases this year in Japan right? It's almost June and we still know nothing about it. I'm so anxious for some news.

Speaking of Persona 5 I honestly wonder where direction they are going with it; love playing through P4G and I wonder if the core gameplay/design is going to remain the same or drastically change.... I do remember reading somewhere that the producers of the game will have the setting still take place in a high school and that "people will have to carry their chains (representing by the ball-and-chains attached to the chairs in the teaser picture they showed off) though...

That has to be the game I'm the most excited about :D; if the game is a lot like P4G and P3P then I know I will love the game :).

I am thinking though, is this going to be a whole new cast or are they going to use the P3 & P4 cast. Both groups are heavily featured in both the Arena games and Persona Q, so maybe they will continue their story? But I guess that is what the spin-offs are for; expanding the stories of those great characters :).

Either way I am excited about this and I wonder if they will have something at E3 about Persona 5 :).

This just hit me.
My PS3 decided to lock me out of my Super Street Street Fighter IV AE content because it preloaded the Ultra data (without my permission or knowledge, mind). So I have to delete my game data and redownload the AE patch.

But then I had to update the PS Store, and now I'm getting this error. I've deleted the app and reinstalled it, and I'm still getting the same error.

I'm NA, BTW.

I JUST WANT TO OIL UP BITCHES, IS THAT SO WRONG

Store isnt working for me either. I had to go through my download list in the account management section of the XMB to download what I wanted to download

At least there's that, thanks, at least I'll be able to get the data I need.

Oh god my download list is ginormous

What don't you like about it so far? Just curious. I'm about 3 hours in and I'm loving the depth of the combat system, but it's a little clunky when you're fighting in real time IMO.

Not enough story, and too many mechanics dumped on me at one time. Combine that with gameplay that I don't enjoy and a lack of exploration and I am just not feeling it. Beautiful game though.

That feeling when you have $30 to spend on PSN and you look at metacritic to get an idea of games available and you own 23 out of the top 25 vita games.
Yes I know metacritic isn't perfect, but it's better than the store for seeing "good" games at a glance
I guess when people talk about vita having a high attach rate they are referring to me...

Yeah. I'm pretty much almost out of Vita games to buy. Getting Delta next week but that's it afterwards until my pre-orders come in. :/

I think I was complaining about this about a month ago. I was hoping for more PSP games in the Vita IGC because I pretty much have most stuff worth owning at this point

LOL. 'cause I still have a life and a family to take care of.

I don't believe you. All the 99s on those other screens suggest otherwise.

I want download only titles, mostly. Things like Ollie Ollie or whatever that I haven't bought.
In this regard, it's why I like that I haven't bought Terarria and it's coming out for the IGC. I also wouldn't mind if I got a bunch of the indies I already have on steam and don't like enough to rebuy (such as Thomas Was Alone).

The real catch is having PS+ titles that haven't been on sale for basement prices 7012938 times before they're in the IGC. In this regard, the US won't get DC, we'll get Muramasa, since it's been <$10 at some point and they'll secretly be able to laugh at all the suckers who just bought it for $7.50 before it went into the IGC. :P

This is my favorite part of PS+ lately. Tons of great indie games that I got either through humble bundles or steam sales for super cheap so I own them already, and can't justify paying full price for just for a portable version. But if they come to PS+ or even PSN sales it is perfect. Games like limbo, thomas was alone and spelunky are absolutely perfect on vita.

Man...I am in the same boat too; outside of Ys, DJ Max, Demon Gaze, Dragnaropa, LBP Vita, and Dragons Crown...I own all the Vita games worth owning at this point...and I got a Vita LAST June! Vita sure has a high attach rate :D.

That's like every niche Japanese Vita game.

Well, Muramasa is a great deal at 7.50, so it coming to PS+ isn't bad at all; its well wroth its sale price :). This happened during that Rayman sale last August (got Origins but it came to plus in September). While I didn't mind considering the Vita version was the best version, I can see how it can annoy people.

Haha I put over 100 hours into my vita between Ys and Demon Gaze, getting the platinum in both so I can certainly recommend those two.

>99k HP for every character
>A life

Pick one

I actually found grinding Luck to be way more tedious and time consuming. To fill 40 HP Sphere nodes you have to defeat a very easy guy (just 500,000 HP, no armor)
(Kottos)
with Overkill only once. On the other hand, to fill 40 Luck spheres you have to defeat a really tough foe (1,300,000 HP, armored against Overdrives)
(Earth Eater)
at least 20 times with Overkill.

It's not that hard to believe. I work freelance so I can get as much free time as I want (at the cost of my productivity :( ). And the game has been out for more than 2 months, so playing a few hours a day consistently does the trick. :)
