Bear in mind, it depends on what the teams are doing. Depending on the objective, I prefer the rifle with the longer barrel. But depending on my mood, I prefer the rapid, messy spray of the AR.

I think I'm through here.
 
You can play Head to Head on Two Boxes but it's not very much fun because the boxes are quite far apart and the map has AR starts by default.

I am looking into increasing the prevalence of BR starts by as much as 0.4%

The jumps are the same, I just increased the gravity by default.

I am looking into adding a connecting barrel between the two boxes in future releases, but the barrel has only just entered testing.

I can promise you that I will talk about the possibility of a barrel in a future podcast, date to be announced.

Domino tried but very few people added NGHC, we all should give it another go :)

Really? I created NGHC almost 2 months ago and told everyone here to send it a FR. Then all they'd have to do is submit their clips, films, maps, etc. to the GT and I'd look through all of them and then get Bungie Pro for the GT and upload them there.

I posted about it quite a few times but they went ignored. :/ Ghaleon was supposed to put info about the tag in the OP but I think he forgot.

I suspect that we all want to be important enough to be on bungie Favorites, but we aren't actually creative enough to be worthy. Or maybe I'm just projecting.

Two Boxes doesn't have much variety in its standard form. I had to take the flame grenade out for performance reasons. It was either one box and one flame grenade, or two boxes. And I decided it was unacceptable to limit players to one box. These are the tradeoffs you make at the high end of videogames design. You wouldn't understand.

wow, it's like the entire 1100 pages of this Halo thread are basically summed up in Shake Appeal's posts from the past two pages.

bravo, sir... be sure to take a close look at veto stats for Two Boxes, to make sure you are bowing to the will of the community.
 
I haven't done anything on the AJ forums recently Voc/Coco/whoever, how have they been doing since the shout-out on bnet? Lots of new members? Any troubles?

Veto is anecdotal. I know what the ladies like.

Incidentally, there have been reports that large groups of players are having difficulty finding games on Two Boxes, and that the playlist population is suffering as a result. I can confirm that these groups simply aren't trying hard enough.

If you have any suggestions for future matchmaking changes to Two Boxes, pm them to Shiska with the subject line 'BR starts wtf??'. This will ensure they go right to the top of his workpile.

Yeah, lots of new members. Not too many problems. I expected a ton of trouble but there's only been a few people that we've had difficulties with. IIRC, we've only had to actually ban one person.

The Halo forums have had a lot of activity, and that aspect has been really nice. With the good comes the bad, though, and it's hard to explain to people why some speculation is okay (what will the next Halo game be about?) and why some is not okay (how can we unlock Recon armour in-game, I know it can be done). The guys that don't fit will figure it out over time and we'll be left with a larger, but still Ascendant Justice-y group.

Overall, it's been nice. We really appreciate what Bungie, and more specifically Luke, has done for us.

Oh come on. I'm a Halo fan and all, but the true reason there's no Community/Forge playlist is that you're selling premium DLC maps right now and want people to buy those instead.

At least blame technical hurdles or something rather than implying that all the community made stuff is garbage. I don't see the harm in doing a short-term weekend Double EXP playlist, let the community decide whether it's crappy or not.

I dunno about that, most of the community stuff I've played IS garbage. Even the better remakes suck due to spawns or something equally frustrating. Onslaught is really the only Forge map I've played that I would even consider passable as a "real" map.
 
Well, that's good to hear, Cocop. I would've expected a lot of trouble, considering the bnet crowd.

I haven't looked at very many threads, but in the past when I was on AJ, it seemed like people only posted when they absolutely had something they needed to say (the polar opposite of here), but when I checked the forum today there were new posts on pretty much the entire first page of the halo 3 board. So that's why I was curious. I'm glad the site is doing well, though.

Actually, I can very much buy the community playlist turning out to be no fun, and something not worth wasting time on.

I can't remember the last user-created map that I played where I thought, "Ooh, I want to play that again."

Plucking a decent map out of the thousands of user created variants would be like bobbing for apples. Only instead of a barrel filled with water, you have to fish your prize from a toilet. And instead of apples, you're mouthing turds.

The logic of "Community content competing with the map packs" seems like a Reed Richardsian reach.

Where it's been appropriate, some community variants have found their way into matchmaking (Infection, MLG [who has had to rebuild their maps for us a handful of times for a variety of reasons]).

I've talked ad infinitum here about a playlist including all Community variants, from the technical challenges to UI messaging and confusion that would result from playing custom gametypes whose game-to-game goals can't be messaged to the player in a single, short text string in the UI, to the fact that a hopper was built tested and scrapped.

We've promoted Community Maps in the Humpday, made them available in Bungie Favorites and empowered Community Groups to directly promote their own gametypes, maps and films in Bungie Favorites.

The sour grapes and illogical leaps are a bit surprising.
